ttm-s.exe cannot be declared safe or malicious from its filename alone. No authoritative Microsoft, AMD or other vendor record identifies that exact executable, so the correct first move is to capture its full path, check its digital signature and find the program, service or startup entry that launches it. How do I investigate ttm-s.exe without making the problem worse?

Do not run the executable merely to see what happens. If you need to inspect it further, use the recorded metadata and a trusted security scan rather than opening it manually.
How do I fix “Windows cannot find ttm-s.exe” after an uninstall?
This message commonly means that a startup shortcut, scheduled task, service or Registry entry still points to a file that was removed. Remove or repair the launcher only after confirming which application created it.

Remove a confirmed stale startup entry
- In Task Manager > Startup apps, select the entry associated with the missing file or its known parent application. Disable it, restart Windows and confirm whether the message disappears.
- If the entry is a scheduled task, open Task Scheduler, select the task, and read the Actions and Triggers tabs. Disable or delete it only when its name, path and history clearly belong to the uninstalled program.
- For a service, open
services.msc, inspect Path to executable, and stop and remove the service through the owning program’s documented uninstaller when possible. Avoid changing a service you cannot identify. - Inspect Registry
Runentries only if the other launch points do not explain the message. Export the relevant key first, then remove the value that exactly references the missing path. A mistaken Registry edit can prevent software from starting.
Reinstall instead of deleting the reference
If you still use the application that created the entry, reinstall it from the publisher’s official installer, reboot, and then apply its current update. Reinstallation restores the expected executable and dependencies; deleting a launcher without restoring the owner may simply trade the error for a broken application.

- Return to Virus & threat protection, choose Scan options, select Full scan, and start it. A full scan can take substantially longer than a quick scan.

DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealthand wait for it to finish. Do not close the window if progress appears to pause temporarily. - When DISM completes, run
sfc /scannow. SFC scans protected Windows files and replaces corrupted copies with cached versions when possible. - Read the final messages. If SFC reports that it repaired files, restart and test the original error. If it could not repair everything, keep the CBS log path shown in the result and repeat the scan only after addressing any servicing error reported by DISM.
These commands repair Windows components; they do not identify the owner of an arbitrary third-party executable. If both commands complete successfully but the same startup message remains, return to the launcher investigation rather than repeatedly running SFC.
When should I use the AMD graphics-driver fix?
Use the AMD branch only when the local evidence connects the file to an AMD graphics installation: the path is inside an AMD package, the signature and installed hardware match AMD, and the error began with a Radeon driver or software change. No AMD documentation identifies ttm-s.exe by name, so an AMD graphics card alone is not enough.

Do not use a graphics-driver cleanup merely because the filename looks unfamiliar. If the signer, path or hardware points elsewhere, follow that software vendor’s repair process instead.

What should I avoid when fixing ttm-s.exe?

A recurring message means that a launch mechanism is still present or is being recreated. Recheck all four locations—Startup apps, Services, Task Scheduler and Registry Run entries—after each reboot, and inspect the parent application’s uninstaller or update utility. If the entry returns with a new path or name, run a full scan and review Protection history before removing it.
If Windows starts normally in a clean-boot configuration but the error disappears, a non-Microsoft service or startup item is conflicting with the system. Disable non-Microsoft items in groups, reboot between changes, and re-enable them one group at a time to identify the owner. Restore the working configuration after testing rather than leaving unrelated services disabled.

When should I seek specialist help?
Get help from the software publisher or a qualified Windows technician when the file is unsigned and unrecognized, Defender repeatedly detects it, the launcher reappears after removal, or Windows becomes unstable after cleanup. Provide the complete path, signature result, file properties, detection name, launch entry and DISM/SFC results. Should I allow ttm-s.exe through Windows Firewall?
Only create a firewall rule after you have identified the owning application and confirmed that it needs network access. A firewall prompt does not verify the file’s publisher; keep the request blocked while you investigate an unknown or unsigned executable.
Can Event Viewer identify what launched ttm-s.exe?
Sometimes. Open Event Viewer and inspect Windows Logs, especially Application and System, around the exact time of the error; the event may name a service, task or parent program even when the dialog does not. Treat the event as a lead and verify it against the file path and signature.
What if Defender quarantines the file but the pop-up keeps appearing?
