Is VALORANT-Win64-Shipping.exe safe or a virus?

- Add the current files from the actual installation directories, then save the rule.
- Try the launch again from Riot Client.
Do not turn off all antivirus or firewall protection as a first step. If you perform a brief, controlled test with a security feature paused, disconnect from untrusted networks, re-enable protection immediately afterward, and investigate any detection instead of adding a blanket exclusion. A security exception should identify the current signed file, not every executable in a broad temporary folder.
3. Update the graphics driver
Install the current Windows driver supplied by your graphics-card manufacturer. Use the manufacturer’s installer for your GPU model and Windows edition, restart when it requests one, and then launch through Riot Client. Avoid downloading a driver from a file-sharing site. The driver package should come from the GPU maker or your computer manufacturer, and the installation should complete before you test other changes.
4. Use a Windows clean boot to find background conflicts
A clean boot starts Windows with non-Microsoft services and startup programs suppressed, helping isolate overlays and utilities without permanently removing them.
- Press
Win, typemsconfig, and open System Configuration. - On the Services tab, select Hide all Microsoft services, then choose Disable all.
- Open the Startup tab and select Open Task Manager. Disable enabled startup items.
- Apply the changes and restart Windows.

6. Repair Vanguard
Vanguard is Riot’s custom game-security software. If its service or driver cannot start, VALORANT may show a block message or close before the game window appears.

- If the problem continues, remove and reinstall Vanguard using Riot’s current support procedure, then restart when prompted.
- Launch a Vanguard-dependent Riot game from Riot Client so the required Vanguard installation is restored, and restart again if requested.
If Vanguard will not uninstall normally, open an elevated Command Prompt and run:
sc delete vgcsc delete vgk
Restart Windows after those commands. They remove the named Vanguard service and driver entries; typing a different service name can damage another program. Reinstall Vanguard by launching a game that requires it, rather than downloading a replacement driver from an unofficial source.
7. Clean-reinstall VALORANT only when files remain damaged
A clean reinstall is more disruptive and can remove local settings, so preserve anything you need first. Riot’s clean-uninstall procedure removes the VALORANT and Riot Client folders, clears the Riot Games and VALORANT folders under %LOCALAPPDATA%, restarts Windows, and then reinstalls from Riot Games.
- Close Riot Client, VALORANT, and Vanguard-related processes.
- Back up settings, screenshots, replays, or other local files you want to keep.
- Uninstall VALORANT and Riot Client through Windows settings when available.
- Remove the remaining VALORANT and Riot Client installation folders identified by Riot’s procedure.

Do not delete unrelated folders merely because they contain the word “Riot.” If you are unsure whether a folder contains personal data, copy it elsewhere and verify the clean-uninstall instructions before removing it.
