Warzone Battle Royale Casual is a Battle Royale playlist that mixes human players with AI-controlled bots. Activision introduced it as a lower-pressure way to warm up or build confidence—not as a separate game or a bot-only match. Its original Verdansk version had 28 human players and up to 120 bots, but playlist availability and details can change by season.
How Warzone Casual works
Casual uses the Battle Royale ruleset; the main difference is the opponent mix. You share the match with other human players while most opponents are bots. It is not a solo practice range, and the original format did not guarantee a match without human opponents.
When Activision introduced Battle Royale Casual on Verdansk in March 2025, it described a 148-player lobby: 28 human players in total—including you—and up to 120 bots. That is the announced format for that launch, not a promise that every later Casual playlist uses the same lobby size or bot count. Activision’s March 2025 Verdansk announcement framed the playlist as an option for warming up or easing into Battle Royale.
The lower-pressure description is the publisher’s positioning, not a guarantee that every match will be easy or that bots will have a particular skill level.

How Casual differs from standard Battle Royale

Do Casual matches count toward stats or progression?
In Activision’s original announcement, Casual match results did not count toward or against stats, and playing it did not count toward Battle Royale Ranked eligibility. Progression was described as limited—not necessarily nonexistent. The announcement does not establish which specific XP, challenges, unlocks, or Battle Pass progress, if any, apply, so do not assume those details from the word “limited.” See Activision’s mode announcement.
Can you play Warzone Casual right now?
Availability depends on the current playlist rotation. Activision’s January 2026 Season 02 overview listed Casual Quads for Battle Royale on Verdansk, plus Resurgence Casual on Haven’s Hollow and Rebirth Island. That is a dated seasonal lineup, not evidence that those playlists remain available now. Activision’s Season 02 overview directed players to Raven Software communications for playlist updates.

Raven Software’s Season 06 patch notes, dated October 7, 2026, do not mention Casual. That omission does not confirm that Casual has been removed or that it is currently active. Check the in-game Warzone playlist selection or current Raven Software playlist communications for the live status.
A note on Casual Solos test figures
Activision also published figures from separate Casual Solos playlist tests in 2025. In its July 29, 2025 Season 05 report, the publisher said Casual Solos had three times as many daily users as Core Solos during the second test. It also reported that returning Core Solos players—described as a group that had heavily favored Core Solos in Season 03—spent 25% of their total playtime in Core Solos after it returned in a side-by-side test. These are publisher-reported results from specific tests, not independent measurements or current player counts, and they do not establish the current population of Battle Royale Casual. Why might Casual appear in a restricted playlist list?
Activision’s June 4, 2026 RICOCHET Anti-Cheat update said that players who fail Microsoft Azure Attestation checks are limited to selected playlists, including Battle Royale Casual. This is an access restriction described for accounts that fail those checks; it does not mean Casual is generally reserved for restricted players. Read the RICOCHET update.
