What you must do to finish Ghost Hunt
Enter the event area
Travel to the 2026 Haunted Floating Festival and enter its haunted house. Ghost Hunt is tied to this event location; photographing unrelated ghosts elsewhere in your Valley does not satisfy the puzzle requirement described for the mansion.
Use the in-game camera
Equip Disney Dreamlight Valley’s normal camera tool and frame each ghost. The puzzle counts successful in-game photographs, not screenshots taken with your console, computer, or phone. If a picture does not register, reposition the camera and take another in-game shot before moving on.
Reach 10 successful photographs
Continue until the game has accepted photographs of all 10 ghosts. The important number is 10, specified for the 2026 event. Seeing a ghost or taking a picture that fails to register does not replace a counted photograph, so use the puzzle’s response—the ghost disappearing after completion—as your confirmation that the final shot worked.
Let the completion trigger run

How the pouch delivers the furniture
The Haunted Floating Festival Pouch functions as a container for the Ghost furniture item. It is not a choice screen and does not ask you to select among several Ghost Hunt prizes. Open the pouch from your inventory using the game’s normal item-opening action. Once opened, the item is added to the furniture collection and can be selected through furniture-placement mode.
There is no researched indication that Ghost Hunt also grants Dreamlight, Star Coins, friendship points, clothing, or an alternative reward. If you are playing after October 31, 2026, the event’s status is the first thing to verify. The published schedule supports availability during the 2026 festival window, not an ongoing return or an always-open haunted house.
Where to look if the reward seems missing
Some players have reported that the Haunted Floating Festival Pouch appears in the main Dreamlight Valley instead of inside the mansion. This is a reported placement issue, not an official placement guarantee. If the ghosts vanished after your tenth photograph but you cannot see a pouch on the event island, search your Valley before concluding that the puzzle failed.
Check the event area first
Leave and re-enter the haunted house or event area after the completion animation has finished. Look around the location and verify that the game has had time to update. Avoid treating the absence of a visible pouch immediately after the final photograph as proof that no reward was awarded.
Search your Valley’s biomes
Inspect the main Valley, including its different biomes, for the pouch. The reported issue concerns placement in the Valley rather than the mansion, so a location outside the event island is possible for some players.

Check inventory and unopened containers
Review your inventory for a Haunted Floating Festival Pouch. If it is present, open it there; the furniture item is added only after the pouch is opened. Also check whether you may have opened it already and are looking for a second copy of the furniture item.

That means you do not need to save before taking a picture, choose a preferred ghost, or compare reward tiers. Focus on registering every required photograph and then locating and opening the pouch.
How Ghost Hunt differs from other Haunted Floating Festival puzzles
The festival contains several puzzle formats, but Ghost Hunt is specifically the photography puzzle associated with Puzzle 9. Other festival activities may use book placement, combination solving, or exploration objectives. Those task types should not be used as instructions for Ghost Hunt: this puzzle’s required action is camera photography in the haunted house.
