Pokémon rewards you keep
Pumpkaboo remains after you befriend it
Pumpkaboo is the event’s initiating Pokémon. Once you complete the required interaction and successfully befriend it, it is not removed when the seasonal event ends. It remains available in your town as a normal befriended Pokémon rather than as a temporary event visitor.
That distinction matters: merely seeing Pumpkaboo, triggering the event, or collecting candy does not establish the permanent reward. The lasting unlock is the Pokémon after the befriending step has succeeded. If Pumpkaboo is your only goal, make sure that interaction is complete before you spend time on optional furniture purchases.
Gourgeist also remains, but needs a habitat
Gourgeist is the second permanent Pokémon reward. It is attracted by constructing the event’s required Halloween habitat from the seasonal furnishings. After Gourgeist appears and you befriend it, Gourgeist remains in the town after the limited-time window closes.
In other words, Gourgeist has an extra prerequisite that Pumpkaboo does not: you must assemble the habitat first. Buying isolated furniture without completing the habitat may leave you with decorations but not the Gourgeist unlock. Prioritize the pieces needed for the habitat if your main objective is to keep both event Pokémon.

Halloween furniture and habitats are permanent town objects
Event furnishings purchased with Pumpkin Candy do not function like temporary buffs. Once an item is bought and placed, it is an owned in-game object that you can continue to use after the event. The same applies to habitats you build from those pieces.
Named event furnishings

These objects serve two purposes. They are collectible Halloween decorations, and some are the construction materials for the event habitats that attract Gourgeist. Buying and placing an item makes it part of your town rather than something that disappears with the seasonal menu.
Why the item count is uncertain
Published guides disagree about the size of the event inventory: one describes the set as nine items, while another refers to ten new items. Because the named lists do not establish a single verified official catalog, do not assume that “all items” means a specific number beyond the items shown in your in-game exchange menu.

Use the exchange screen as your final checklist. The nine names above are useful guide-level evidence, but the discrepancy means an additional item, regional presentation difference, or counting convention may be involved. The persistence of purchased furnishings is clear; the exact total needed for completion should be confirmed against the menu in your own game.
The Trick or Treat camera frame is a completion reward
The Trick or Treat camera frame is awarded when you buy every listed event item. It is separate from the Pokémon unlocks and from the ordinary value of individual decorations, so purchasing one or two favorite pieces will not satisfy the completion condition.
To secure the frame, work through the entire event exchange inventory and purchase each listed item while Pumpkin Candy can still be spent. The guides describe this as a completion cosmetic, not as a temporary effect tied to the event window. Once unlocked, it belongs with your other camera cosmetics rather than expiring when the Halloween activity ends.

Pumpkin Candy is the part you should treat as temporary
How you earn it
The event loop awards Pumpkin Candy when you use the Camouflage move to disguise yourself as an object and surprise nearby Pokémon. Camouflage is therefore not just a general movement option during this event; it is the activity that feeds the seasonal exchange economy.
After collecting candy, take it to a Pokémon Center and exchange it for the Halloween furnishings. Guides identify a rebuilt Pokémon Center as a requirement for accessing the event, so players who cannot find the exchange should check that the center has been rebuilt and that the event is active in the current window. Unused-candy carryover is not confirmed
The available documentation does not state what happens to an unused Pumpkin Candy balance after the event closes. It does not confirm automatic conversion, permanent storage, deletion, or any other post-event treatment.

That uncertainty changes the sensible priority order. Do not farm a large reserve expecting it to become a general currency. Exchange the candy for the furnishings you want, complete the habitat for Gourgeist, and finish the item list needed for the Trick or Treat frame before the deadline. This is a precaution based on the missing carryover rule, not a claim that unused candy is definitely deleted.

Event timing and requirements
The published event window runs from October 17, 2026 at 5:00 a.m. through November 1, 2026 at 4:59 a.m. local time. The end time is local to the player’s region, so do not wait until the final morning if you still need several exchanges or a habitat build.
Before starting, make sure you have:
- A rebuilt Pokémon Center, which guides identify as an event requirement.
- Access to the Camouflage move for the candy-earning activity.
- Enough time to earn and spend candy before the exchange window ends.
- Space and the necessary furnishing pieces to construct the Halloween habitat if you want Gourgeist.

A priority order for finishing before the deadline
If your play time is limited, use this order. It protects the rewards that require the most specific setup before you spend candy on optional decoration.
- Rebuild the Pokémon Center. Without it, you may not be able to access the event exchange loop.
- Befriend Pumpkaboo. This is the direct Pokémon objective and does not depend on completing the Gourgeist habitat.
- Buy the habitat pieces. Use Pumpkin Candy on the furnishings needed to construct the Halloween habitat.
- Build the habitat and befriend Gourgeist. Confirm that Gourgeist has joined your town rather than stopping after construction.
- Purchase the remaining event furnishings. Continue until the exchange menu shows that every listed item has been bought.
- Check for the Trick or Treat frame. Verify the cosmetic appears in your camera options after the final purchase.
- Spend any remaining Pumpkin Candy. Its post-event behavior is undocumented, so do not leave a balance that you intended to convert into a specific item.
This order separates guaranteed permanent unlocks from completion cosmetics and avoids spending all your candy on decorations before you have the habitat materials required for Gourgeist.
How to verify that you actually claimed each lasting reward
For Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist
- Look for each Pokémon in your town after the befriending interaction completes.
- For Gourgeist, verify both the habitat construction and the successful befriending step; the habitat alone is not the Pokémon reward.
For furnishings and habitats
- Check the town furnishing or placement interface for each purchased object.
- Confirm the habitat is built rather than merely having its components in storage.
- Keep a record of any item that appears in the exchange menu but not in an online guide, because published item totals conflict.
For the camera frame
- Review the camera-frame selection after buying the final listed event item.
- If the frame is absent, compare your purchases with the complete in-game exchange list rather than relying on a nine-item web list.
What “finishing” the event really means
There are several reasonable definitions of completion, and they produce different stopping points:

The durable rewards are straightforward: befriended Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist stay in your town, purchased Halloween furniture and completed habitats remain available, and the Trick or Treat camera frame is a lasting cosmetic once earned. The only reward element you should not assume will carry over is an unspent Pumpkin Candy balance. Claim the Pokémon, finish the habitat, buy the items shown in your exchange menu, and spend leftover candy before the local November 1, 2026 deadline.
