What was scheduled for September 29?
At Tokyo Game Show 2024, PlayStation Presents “DEATH STRANDING 2” Special Stage! was scheduled for Sunday, September 29, from 10:00 to 11:30 JST at the Exhibition Hall 1 Event Stage. The featured game was DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH for PlayStation 5. Kojima Productions announced the stage on August 23, 2024.
The announced guests were Hideo Kojima, Daichi Miura, Kenjiro Tsuda, Nana Mizuki, Tomokazu Sugita, Shion Wakayama, and Nicolas Winding Refn. Kojima Productions described the session as a panel discussion and said attendees would get “a front row seat to the latest update in the development” of the game.
Was a release date promised?
No. The official pre-event announcement promised a development update, but did not say that a release date would be revealed. It establishes what the organizers planned to present, not what the stage ultimately showed. The announcement alone cannot confirm the actual reveals or answer whether a release date was discussed.

What was the other September 29 announcement?
Also on September 29, 2024, Kojima Productions announced a separate fifth-anniversary exhibition and popup inspired by the Distribution Center in the original Death Stranding. The company said the exhibition would include rare archive material, including production materials not previously exhibited publicly. The popup was to feature special products, including a BRAIN DEAD collaboration and new Kojima Productions merchandise. The anniversary announcement listed free admission and these past event dates:
- Shibuya PARCO: exhibition November 8–18, 2024; store November 8–25.
- Nagoya PARCO: January 17–February 3, 2025.
- Shinsaibashi PARCO: February 7–17, 2025.
Those dates have passed; the announcement does not establish whether any of the popup merchandise is currently available.
