Before buying a cozy RPG on PlayStation, check what you’ll actually do in the game, which PS4 or PS5 version you’re selecting, what the edition includes, and whether its accessibility options suit you. “Cozy” is a broad label, not a guarantee of a particular gameplay loop or difficulty.
What kind of play do you want?
Start with the activities you want to spend time on: farming, crafting, exploration, quests, story, relationships, community building, or a mix. A game’s routine matters more than its cozy presentation: a gentle art style does not by itself mean the gameplay is low-pressure or free of challenge.

Which PlayStation version are you buying?
Read the individual Store listing and confirm whether the product is for PS4, PS5, or both. Don’t assume a PS4 listing and a native PS5 version have identical features. For example, Disney Dreamlight Valley’s PlayStation Store page lists both platforms and notes that some features available on PS4 may be absent when the game is played on PS5.

What does the selected edition include?
Compare the contents of the exact editions or bundles shown on the Store page, especially if you are considering a higher-priced option for expansion content. Disney Dreamlight Valley has multiple editions listed, but bundle contents are specific to that title and listing; don’t assume another game packages content the same way.
Will its accessibility and comfort options work for you?
On supported PS5 Store game hubs, press Triangle to view accessibility tags. PlayStation says the tags can cover options such as difficulty settings, skippable puzzles, simplified quick-time events, and game speed. Availability depends on the game, so check its tags and product page rather than treating any feature as standard.

Check the features that are deal-breakers for you
Use your own priorities to compare games: farming and crafting versus exploration and story, relationship or community systems, challenge and time pressure, platform version, included content, and accessibility options. If multiplayer or another specific feature matters, confirm it on that game’s page; the cozy label does not establish that it is included.

Buying a PS4 copy for use on PS5
If you’re counting on a PS4 purchase working on PS5 or upgrading to a PS5 version, check the game’s specific terms before buying. PlayStation’s PS4 and PS5 compatibility guidance explains that upgrade requirements depend on the game. In the disc-based PS4 upgrade situation described by PlayStation, you need a PS5 with a disc drive.
