Do not use a single unchanged overall number as proof that all XP failed to save. Check the class-level results from the match that you just completed, because those are the clearest available diagnostic signal.

1. Check both class and overall results
After a match, note the overall Wardog level and every class track that should have received experience. Compare those values with a screenshot or written note from before the match. A class level increase is evidence that at least part of the progression pipeline recorded the result, even if the headline overall number did not change.

Use the player explanation about overall levels only as a testable hypothesis: if the overall value is expected to rise when a class levels, look for the class-level transition rather than assuming the account is corrupt. The discussion does not establish the exact thresholds, timing or order in which the game applies those changes.
2. Confirm that WARDOGS and Steam are current
WARDOGS is an Early Access game, and its store description says that progression and other systems continue to evolve. Open Steam and allow any queued WARDOGS download to finish. If an update was released while Steam was open, restart the Steam client and then launch the game again. An earlier official update process warned that players might need to restart to receive a client update; that instruction does not constitute a known fix for the stuck-level reports.
Check the date and title of the latest official WARDOGS announcement before testing again. BULKHEAD’s WARDOGS | Update 0.1.2 (Minor Patch) announcement was posted on September 29, 2026. It addressed XP and cash exploits and other gameplay issues, but it did not say that the reported overall/class progression stall had been fixed.
3. Restart once after an update or maintenance period
Close WARDOGS completely, let Steam finish synchronizing and updating the game, and launch it again. Then play a normal match and check both the class and overall values. This is a sensible state-refresh check for a live Early Access client, not an officially documented remedy for this particular symptom. If the same class remains stuck, do not repeat matches indefinitely without recording the results.

4. Test the relevant server context without changing other variables
Some players said their class XP continued while the overall level looked stuck, including after playing on Official servers. Others reported that the issue remained after verifying files. These accounts show that server selection and file verification have not produced a proven universal answer.
If you normally use an Official server, record that fact in your report. If you test another supported server context, change only that variable and write down the result. Do not present a single successful or unsuccessful test as proof of the root cause.
5. Record the symptom before contacting support
A precise report is more useful than “my XP disappeared.” Keep a short log containing:

- The match date and approximate time, plus whether the client had just updated.
- The server context, including whether the test used an Official server.

This information is practical reporting guidance, not a published mandatory form. Keep the original files and avoid editing screenshots in a way that removes the level or class labels.

6. Report a persistent class-level stall
Use the WARDOGS Steam Community’s Report a Problem discussion area for a persistent progression failure. Include the log above and describe the distinction between class XP and the overall level. Team17 Support replied to the cited discussion on September 20 and September 26, 2026, and said the reports had been passed to the team for investigation. Its public wording was: “I can mention that there is already a team checking this.” That is an acknowledgment of investigation, not confirmation that a fix is available.
Keep the report focused on one account and one reproducible symptom. If the issue changes after a patch, add the new client version and date to the same discussion where possible rather than opening multiple near-identical reports.
What the current evidence does—and does not—show
Player reports establish symptoms, not a prevalence rate
The cited Steam discussion contains reports of players stuck around levels 53 or 54, with class categories continuing to gain experience while the overall Wardog level appeared unchanged. One player said file verification did not correct the problem, and reports also mention Official-server testing. Those observations are useful for diagnosis, but they are anecdotal. No named study or independent statistic establishes how common progression-save failures are.

Team17 Support’s replies indicate that the reports reached the development team. The cited thread material does not provide a resolution, rollback, account repair, or release date for a fix. Do not infer that an investigation acknowledgment means your account has already been corrected.

Update 0.1.2 is not a confirmed progression-stall fix
The September 29, 2026 Update 0.1.2 notes focus in part on anti-exploit measures and several gameplay changes. They do not announce a fix for the specific report in which class XP continues while the overall level appears stuck. If you are reading after the planned Season 02 release on October 15, 2026, check the newest official notes because Early Access behavior and support guidance can change.
Do not try exploit-based XP workarounds
Repeating an unintended XP or cash method is a bad way to test whether progression works. The Update 0.1.2 announcement states: “We have zero tolerance for economy abuse and players now risk being permanently banned without warning if caught abusing repeatable unintended exploits.” The same announcement says caught players may have cash and progression reset.
That warning applies even if your legitimate progression appears stuck. Do not recommend or use a repeatable exploit, automation, modified client or third-party tool to force a level increase. A workaround that changes the number on screen can create a separate account penalty and make the original support case harder to interpret.
Actions that are not established fixes
- Steam file verification: a player reported that verification did not correct the stuck level. It is therefore not a documented solution for this symptom.
- Deleting local files: the cited official sources do not document this as a repair and provide no safe procedure for preserving progression data.
- Resetting the account: no official source reviewed here instructs players to reset an account to recover XP.
- Third-party recovery or editing tools: these are not supported fixes and can introduce security, integrity or ban risks.
- Assuming every unchanged overall number is lost XP: class-level changes may explain the display, according to one player’s unverified account of the mechanics.
If you have already tried one of these actions, include that fact in your support report, including the time and result. Do not repeat destructive steps hoping for a different outcome.

How to read future patch notes
Look for language that names progression persistence, class XP, overall Wardog levels, account restoration or a specific known issue. General statements about balancing, exploit prevention or server stability are not proof that a stuck-level report has been resolved. A credible fix notice should identify the affected behavior and, ideally, explain whether previously missed progression is restored automatically or whether players must complete another action.
Season 02 was announced for October 15, 2026. Because that date follows the latest evidence available for this article, verify the post-Season 02 notes and any pinned support replies before relying on older instructions. The Early Access label means the rules can continue to change; preserve the date and client version whenever you compare results across patches.
When you can stop troubleshooting
Stop treating the issue as an active save failure when the affected class begins gaining XP and the overall value updates in a later match, provided no exploit or unsupported tool was involved. Keep your notes until the change is consistent. If a class remains unable to advance across repeated normal matches after a current-client restart, submit the documented report rather than grinding indefinitely or attempting risky workarounds.
The practical decision is therefore straightforward: verify which track is stuck, confirm the client is current, document the exact symptom, and escalate persistent class-level failures through the official support discussion. The available evidence supports that process, but it does not yet support a guaranteed self-service repair or a confirmed root cause.
