Open the Gunsmith, choose Weapon Upgrades, and select the eligible weapon. If every requirement is satisfied but the menu is still absent, restart the game once, check the latest official patch notes, and report the exact screen and message if the problem remains. Embark’s October 9, 2026 Hotfix 2.0.2 does not list a Weapon Amplification availability fix, and the reported launch-time problem concerned the separate Field Repair skill.
First, identify which feature is actually unavailable
Several progression screens can look similar, but they do not share the same requirements. “Amplification is missing” can mean that the Amplified Research screen is locked, that no weapon appears in the Gunsmith, that the upgrade button is disabled, or that a player is actually trying to use Field Repair. Those are different systems.

Weapon Amplification
Weapon Amplification is the late-game weapon progression introduced with the Frozen Trail 2.0 update. Embark describes it as a fifth quality level for a range of guns, accessed through a fully upgraded Research Workstation in the Outpost. At launch, 15 weapons were included, with more planned. Amplification changes how a weapon behaves through branching upgrades instead of applying one universal statistical bonus.
Field Repair
Field Repair is a separate skill. Arc Raiders Hub reported that Field Repair could remain unavailable after it had been unlocked at launch and that restarting the game resolved that issue for some players. That report is not evidence that Weapon Amplification currently has a system-wide outage. Keep the two symptoms separate when troubleshooting or submitting a report.

Weapon Amplification unlock requirements
Check the requirements in this order. The progression sequence and item-source details below come from the current Arc Raiders Hub guide updated October 11, 2026, so confirm them against later in-game tooltips or patch notes if your build has changed.

When all five conditions are met, use the Gunsmith’s Weapon Upgrades tab. If the weapon is still absent, recheck its tier and the Module’s rarity rather than relying on its name or appearance. A Module for a different rarity will not substitute for the required one.
Step-by-step troubleshooting
- Record the exact symptom. Note whether Amplified Research is locked, the Gunsmith tab is missing, the weapon is greyed out, the Module is rejected, or an error appears after selection. Also verify that you are not looking for Field Repair.
- Verify the Outpost level. Open the Outpost management or progression view and confirm level 4. If the Outpost is below IV, complete its upgrades before testing the Gunsmith again.
- Verify both station levels. Inspect the Gunsmith and Research Station individually. Each must show level 4; upgrading only one does not satisfy the progression chain.
- Inspect the weapon. Open the weapon details and confirm tier IV. Do not treat rarity alone as proof of the required tier.
- Check the Module. Confirm that an Amplification Module is present and that its rarity matches the selected weapon. Because the guide reports that the Module is consumed, do not spend it on a branch until you have compared the available choices.
- Use the correct menu. At the Gunsmith, open Weapon Upgrades, then select the eligible tier-IV weapon. Looking in a general crafting or repair screen will not reveal the amplification controls.
- Restart once if the menu is stale. A full game restart is a sensible cache or session check. However, the documented launch-time restart fix applies to Field Repair, not to a confirmed Weapon Amplification defect, so treat it as a troubleshooting step rather than a guaranteed solution.
- Check the build and official notes. Confirm your game version and compare it with current Frozen Trail 2.0 and later hotfix notes. Hotfix 2.0.2, announced October 9, 2026, lists several fixes, including weapon-visual and inventory-model issues, but does not list an amplification-availability fix.
- Capture the remaining failure accurately. If the option is still missing, record the platform, game version, Outpost level, Gunsmith and Research Station levels, weapon name, tier, rarity, Module rarity, exact station tab, and the result of clicking the weapon. Submit that information through the game’s current official support or reporting route.
Where the Amplification Module is reported to come from
The current independent guide identifies two late-game sources: loot on the Frigate and loot inside the fallen Emperor on Pendola Pass. These are guide-reported locations, not a published guarantee of a drop on every run. No verified drop percentage or success rate has been established, so plan around the possibility of repeated encounters rather than a promised first-run reward.

Frigate
The Frigate is presented as a high-risk, high-reward encounter. Bring a loadout that can handle both the encounter’s combat demands and an extraction attempt after obtaining valuable loot. A Module does not help if the run ends before extraction, and the available information does not establish a safe route or guaranteed spawn.
Fallen Emperor on Pendola Pass
The guide also reports Modules inside the fallen Emperor area on Pendola Pass. Treat the location as another late-game objective: enter with enough ammunition, healing and inventory capacity to make the trip worthwhile, and decide your extraction route before committing. Because locations and loot tables can change with patches, verify the current build’s descriptions when an expected item is absent.
What amplification changes—and why the choice matters
Amplification is not a simple “add damage” button. Embark’s Frozen Trail overview describes it as a fifth quality level that changes weapon behavior. The available paths branch, and the Arc Raiders Hub guide reports that selected changes can be permanent, with some choices excluding alternatives.

Compare the intended role first
Before spending the Module, decide what the weapon must do in your normal runs. A path that improves performance against ARC machines may be less useful for Raider fights. Other branches may favor range, mobility or handling. Without current weapon-specific testing, there is no universally best branch; the correct choice depends on your loadout, map routes and preferred engagements.
Check permanence and exclusions
Read every branch description before confirming. If one option locks out another, screenshot or write down the alternatives so you can compare them outside the confirmation screen. Do not assume that a later respec is available; the guide describes the selected amplification as permanent.
Budget upkeep as well as the Module
Amplification adds a long-term commitment. The guide calls out durability and repair considerations, so include expected maintenance in your decision. Tooltip values and research costs were still being filled in by the guide, and no authoritative cost table is established here. Use the values displayed in your current game rather than relying on an older screenshot or an unverified list.

Why a restart may help one problem but not prove another
At launch, Arc Raiders Hub reported that Field Repair could remain unavailable after unlock and that restarting restored access. That is useful evidence that a session-state problem can occur, but it does not establish the same bug for Weapon Amplification. If amplification is missing after a restart and all gates are satisfied, describe it as an unresolved UI or progression symptom, not as a confirmed outage.
Similarly, the October 9 Hotfix 2.0.2 announcement should not be read as a blanket statement that every progression issue was fixed. Its listed changes include weapon-visual and inventory-model fixes; Weapon Amplification availability is not among the announced fixes. Later patches may alter this status.

How to report an unresolved amplification problem
A precise report gives support a way to distinguish a locked feature from a missing item or a display error. Include:

- Platform and region, if the game displays region-specific services.
- Game version and whether the client updated after the latest hotfix.
- Outpost level, Gunsmith level and Research Station level.
- Weapon name, rarity and tier, plus a screenshot of its details panel.
- Amplification Module name and rarity, and whether it is present before opening the Gunsmith.
- The exact path used, such as Gunsmith → Weapon Upgrades, and the screen where the option disappears.
- Any error text, disabled button, missing tab or unexpected material requirement.
- Whether a complete restart changed the behavior.
Do not report “amplification is broken” without those details. A support team needs to know whether the account is missing a progression gate, the selected gun is ineligible, the Module does not match, or the client is failing to render an otherwise unlocked option.
Version and evidence limits
This guidance reflects the Frozen Trail 2.0 feature overview published by Embark Studios on October 8, 2026, the official Hotfix 2.0.2 announcement dated October 9, and the Arc Raiders Hub guide updated October 11. Embark’s overview establishes the feature’s purpose, fifth-quality-level design and 15-weapon launch scope. The guide supplies the current unlock sequence, reported Module locations and Field Repair symptom, but those operational details can change without notice. Check newer official notes and your in-game tooltips before spending a rare Module.
