The current camera in Hasselblad’s X2D line is the X2D II 100C. Hasselblad’s US store listed the body at $7,799 on October 7, 2026; pairing it with a lens brings the listed bundle price to between $9,478 and $13,728, depending on the lens. Before buying, decide whether the body-and-lens cost fits your budget, which XCD lens suits your work, and whether the camera’s still-photo-focused feature set fits your workflow.

Which XCD lens should you consider?

The X2D II belongs to Hasselblad’s X System and uses XCD lenses. The right choice depends on the view you need and how you shoot; Hasselblad’s descriptions below indicate its intended roles rather than independent test conclusions.

Check lens compatibility and firmware

Hasselblad says AF-C works with compatible XCD lenses running current firmware, but is unavailable when the camera uses its electronic shutter. The manufacturer’s FAQ names the 35–100E, 38V, 55V, 25V, 90V, 28P and 75P as AF-C-compatible lenses. If you are considering an older or used lens, verify its firmware and compatibility with the X2D II before buying rather than assuming every XCD lens has the same AF-C support.

Which features matter in everyday use?

Stabilization: a rated result, not a sharpness guarantee

Hasselblad’s 2025 specifications rate the five-axis in-body stabilization at 10 stops at the image center and 8 stops at the edges. The rating was measured with the XCD 3.5/120 Macro lens under CIPA standards. Hasselblad also says stabilization is up to eight times that of the original X2D 100C when capturing distant subjects. Those ratings describe specified test conditions; they cannot promise that every handheld exposure will be sharp.

Storage: built-in space plus an expansion slot

The camera has a 1TB internal SSD and a CFexpress Type B slot for additional storage. The card slot is an expansion option; the built-in SSD means a card is not an automatically required purchase.

HDR depends on the viewing and editing setup

Hasselblad says HDR JPG effects can be displayed in Phocus, Preview on supported MacBook Pro models, and recent Adobe Lightroom and Camera Raw versions. HDR HEIF display support is more limited. If HDR is central to your workflow, check the current software and device requirements for the exact formats you plan to capture and view. Hasselblad’s press release called the X2D II “the first medium format camera to support true end-to-end HDR”; that is the manufacturer’s claim.

Who is the X2D II 100C for?

Hasselblad positions the X2D II for landscape, portrait, street and travel photography. Its combination of a 100-megapixel medium-format sensor, stabilization and XCD lens system makes it a consideration for still photographers who value high-resolution capture and are prepared to budget for the system, not just the body.

It is a weaker match for work that requires a hybrid stills-and-video body. A secondary review listing identifies the camera as having no video capability; that information comes from a search result rather than an inspected full review, so confirm the camera’s current specifications if video is essential. This suitability assessment is based on the documented positioning and specification, not hands-on testing.

What to check before placing an order

  1. Confirm the generation. The current model discussed here is the X2D II 100C; the predecessor is the X2D 100C.
  2. Price the complete kit. Compare the current body price and the exact lens configuration you intend to buy, and account for any local taxes or retailer pricing.
  3. Match the lens to your work. Choose a focal length and lens role based on the subjects and framing you actually need, rather than choosing on bundle price alone.
  4. Verify AF-C support. For a used or older lens, confirm current firmware and compatibility; remember that AF-C is unavailable with the electronic shutter.
  5. Confirm workflow requirements. Check the latest HDR viewing and editing support if HDR matters, and verify video specifications if video is required.
