The Logitech G Pro X3 LIGHTSPEED is worth considering if you play competitive games on PC or PlayStation 5 and prioritize positional detail, a clear boom microphone, long wireless range and hands-on EQ control. It combines 2.4 GHz LIGHTSPEED, Bluetooth and a 3.5 mm wired fallback, and its 50 mm PRO-G graphene drivers produce an expansive, detail-forward presentation that suits locating footsteps and other high-frequency cues.
It is not the obvious choice for every buyer. Independent testing found the earcups can become hot, battery endurance is only average against similarly priced rivals, and the headset omits active noise cancellation (ANC), simultaneous multipoint and chat mixing. At Logitech’s listed price of $249.99 in the United States and £229.99 in the United Kingdom, those omissions matter as much as the excellent imaging and microphone.

What the Logitech G Pro X3 LIGHTSPEED actually offers
The Pro X3 is a premium over-ear gaming headset built around three connection methods. Its USB wireless connection uses Logitech’s LIGHTSPEED 2.4 GHz system, it supports Bluetooth 5.3, and a detachable 3.5 mm cable provides wired operation. Tom’s Guide lists compatibility with PC, macOS and PlayStation 5. The wireless dongle is USB-A, so a newer computer or console may need an adapter or a suitable USB-A port.

Connection and platform checks come first
Use 2.4 GHz for games that depend on timing
LIGHTSPEED is the connection to favor for shooters, rhythm games and any title where delayed sound can affect a decision. A dedicated USB receiver avoids the operating-system routing and latency compromises that can occur when gaming over ordinary Bluetooth. Tom’s Guide measured approximately 98 feet (30 meters) of wireless range in its testing, although walls, USB placement and local radio interference can reduce that distance in a real room.
Bluetooth is an extra connection, not a promise of two-device mixing
Bluetooth 5.3 makes the Pro X3 practical for a phone or laptop without the LIGHTSPEED receiver. It does not mean you can maintain two active Bluetooth devices and switch audio automatically: simultaneous multipoint is one of the features the independent review identified as missing. If you need game audio and a phone call mixed at once, verify that capability before buying rather than assuming Bluetooth 5.3 provides it.
Confirm every device you own
Tom’s Guide lists PC, macOS and PlayStation 5 support. The 3.5 mm input is a useful fallback for equipment that cannot use the receiver, but analog operation depends on the device’s headphone jack and microphone wiring. If you move between a desktop, a Mac and a PS5, plan where the USB-A receiver will be connected and whether you need an adapter. A headset that works on one platform can still be inconvenient if its receiver, cable or controls do not fit your setup.
Sound quality: excellent imaging with a bright default balance
Tom’s Guide described the Pro X3 as sounding “fantastic,” with expansive treble and strong imaging. That is a meaningful advantage in competitive games: distinct left-right and front-back cues can make footsteps, reloads and environmental sounds easier to place. The review found the default treble-forward tuning useful for locating first-person-shooter cues.
The same emphasis can become a liability. High frequencies may turn harsh with bright game mixes, loud effects or poorly mastered music. Treat the default profile as a starting point rather than a universal competitive advantage. The 10-band parametric EQ in Logitech G HUB lets you reduce sharp treble, add weight to the low end or create separate profiles for different games. Parametric control is more useful than a handful of broad presets when you know which frequency is bothering you, but it also requires more experimentation.

Do not confuse virtual surround with physical surround
The Pro X3 can present a wider, processed gaming field, but virtual 7.1 is still software processing through stereo drivers. Tom’s Guide specifically cautioned against assuming that a virtual 7.1 mode equals a true multi-speaker surround system. For competitive play, compare the accuracy of the ordinary stereo mode and any surround option in your own games; a wider effect is not automatically a more precise one.
Microphone performance and voice-chat controls
Logitech specifies a 48 kHz/16-bit omnidirectional boom microphone. The boom is articulated and detachable, and BLUE VO!CE settings in G HUB provide software processing for voice tone, noise handling and broadcast-style effects. “Omnidirectional” describes the pickup pattern, not a guarantee that every room will sound quiet; keyboard noise, fans and a poorly positioned boom can still enter the signal.

Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →T3 reviewer Max Freeman-Mills called the microphone “best-in-class” in its price bracket and potentially “the single best one in its price bracket.” That is a strong, favorable review opinion rather than a standardized measurement, but it supports the Pro X3’s appeal for players who spend much of a session in party chat or team comms. A detachable boom also gives you a clean option for music listening when voice chat is not needed.
Remember that microphone quality and chat controls are separate decisions. The independent review found the Pro X3 lacks chat mix. You can obtain a clear voice signal while still finding it inconvenient to adjust game volume against teammates’ voices quickly during a match.
Battery claims need careful interpretation
Logitech’s current specification claims up to 70 hours of wireless battery life. Tom’s Guide’s specification table lists a 50-hour rated figure. Neither number should be presented as a directly comparable laboratory result: one is the manufacturer’s “up to” claim, while the other is a review specification, and the conditions behind each figure are not identical.

For buying purposes, treat the published numbers as an endurance range rather than a promise that every session will reach 70 hours. Volume, lighting or other active processing, wireless mode and battery-test methodology can all change runtime. The independent review characterized the Pro X3’s battery life as mediocre compared with similarly priced competition, so buyers who regularly forget to charge should weigh that criticism more heavily than the larger headline number.
The wired 3.5 mm connection reduces the practical risk of a flat battery, but it changes the experience: you lose wireless convenience and any device-specific behavior that depends on the USB receiver. Check that your console, controller or computer exposes the microphone correctly over analog before relying on the cable as your emergency plan.
Comfort, heat and long-session fit
The Pro X3 received positive marks for comfort and build quality in Tom’s Guide’s testing. Rotating memory-foam earcups help the headset settle around the head, and the choice of leatherette or velour pads can change the feel substantially. Weight is listed at 12.5 ounces, a moderate figure that still becomes noticeable if the clamp is strong or the headband concentrates pressure.
Heat is the main comfort warning. The independent review found the earcups can become hot, particularly a concern in warm rooms or long sessions. Leatherette generally seals well but can retain more heat than a breathable fabric; velour may feel cooler while allowing more sound leakage. If possible, buy from a retailer with a clear return window and test the clamp, glasses compatibility, seal and ear clearance during a full-length session rather than deciding after a few minutes.
Features the Pro X3 does not include
At this price, omissions can be more important than a specification win. Independent testing identified three notable absences:

- No ANC: there is no active system to counter steady external noise. Passive earcup isolation is the only barrier, so a loud room or nearby appliance may remain audible.
- No simultaneous multipoint: you cannot count on maintaining two active Bluetooth sources for effortless device switching or mixed calls.
- No chat mix: there is no dedicated balancing function for game audio and voice-chat levels.
None of these prevents the headset from working as a gaming headset. They define who should spend the money. A quiet-room PC player may value imaging and the microphone more than ANC; a user who travels, works in a noisy space or constantly moves between devices may reasonably prefer a model with those controls even if its imaging differs.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to evaluate a wireless gaming headset before you buy
1. Match the wireless technology to the games you play
Look for a dedicated 2.4 GHz receiver when low delay and stable game audio are priorities. Check whether the receiver is USB-A or USB-C, whether an adapter is included, and how far your setup places the headset from the console or computer. Bluetooth is valuable for casual listening, but do not assume it is the best mode for competitive play or that it supports multipoint.
2. Verify platform support, not just a “wireless” label
Write down every target device: gaming PC, Mac, PS5, handheld, phone and controller. Confirm that the receiver works on the platforms you use and that wired mode carries both sound and microphone where required. A headset advertised for one console family may have different behavior on another, so platform listings and the return policy deserve a check before checkout.
3. Separate microphone specifications from real voice quality
Sample rate and bit depth describe the digital signal, not how natural you will sound in a busy room. Look for a boom that can be positioned close to the mouth, hardware mute behavior, available processing and whether settings require desktop software. The Pro X3’s 48 kHz/16-bit microphone and BLUE VO!CE controls are useful on paper; the T3 assessment adds favorable listening evidence, while the lack of chat mix remains a control limitation.
4. Ask how the battery number was produced
Compare “up to” claims with rated figures only after checking the test conditions. Note whether the number applies to LIGHTSPEED, Bluetooth, lighting, volume and active processing. A detachable cable is valuable insurance, but only if your devices support the required analog microphone path. For the Pro X3, keep Logitech’s 70-hour claim and Tom’s Guide’s 50-hour listing separate and account for the review’s warning about average endurance.

5. Test heat, clamp and pad material
Comfort is a fit problem, not a marketing adjective. Check ear opening size, glasses pressure, headband force, swivel range and whether the pads are leatherette or velour. A headset that feels light for 20 minutes may become uncomfortable after several hours. Warm-room players should give the Pro X3’s hot-earcup criticism particular weight.
6. Listen for imaging and fatigue, not just bass
Use a familiar game with repeatable left-right and distance cues. Test stereo before enabling any virtual surround mode, then compare whether processing improves or blurs placement. A treble-forward signature can reveal detail while becoming tiring; the Pro X3’s parametric EQ gives you a way to correct that, but you should be willing to spend time making a profile.
7. Count the convenience features you will actually use
ANC, multipoint and chat mixing are not interchangeable. Identify whether you need noise reduction, two-device switching or independent game/chat balance. Also check physical controls, microphone mute behavior, receiver storage and whether the software is required for EQ changes. The Pro X3’s strong core audio does not replace any of those missing functions.

8. Include weight, wired fallback, returns and street price
Compare the complete package rather than a single driver specification. The Pro X3 is listed at $249.99 in Logitech’s US store and £229.99 in the UK store; retailer pricing can differ, so check the current price and stock in your region. A generous return period is especially valuable for evaluating heat and clamp, and a 3.5 mm cable can matter more than a small battery advantage if you play near a controller or audio interface.
How the Pro X3 compares with the alternatives mentioned by reviewers
T3 recommended considering the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Omni when a buyer wants more features, particularly ANC and broad device compatibility, and the Glorious GHS Wireless InfinitePlay when a lower price matters more than premium construction and microphone quality. Those are different priorities rather than proof that one headset is universally better.
| Buyer priority | Pro X3 LIGHTSPEED | SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Omni | Glorious GHS Wireless InfinitePlay |
|---|---|---|---|
| Competitive imaging and detailed EQ | Strong imaging, treble-forward default and 10-band parametric EQ | Consider when additional features are more important | Consider when reducing price is more important |
| Microphone | 48 kHz/16-bit detachable boom with BLUE VO!CE; praised by T3 | Not established in the cited review evidence | T3 positioned it as a cheaper option, not the premium microphone choice |
| ANC and device flexibility | No ANC; no simultaneous multipoint | Recommended by T3 when ANC and omni-compatibility matter | Not established in the cited review evidence |
| Price positioning | $249.99 US / £229.99 UK Logitech listing | Positioned as the more feature-focused alternative | Positioned as the lower-price alternative |
The table is a decision aid, not a complete specification comparison: the cited reviews do not establish matching battery, weight or range figures for those alternatives. Obtain current regional prices and detailed specifications before making a final choice.
Who should buy the Logitech Pro X3?
It fits these buyers
- PC or PS5 players who value clear positional imaging for competitive games.
- Players who want a detachable boom and strong voice-chat potential.
- Users who will make use of a 10-band parametric EQ instead of relying on fixed presets.
- People who need LIGHTSPEED, Bluetooth and a 3.5 mm fallback in one headset.
- Buyers who play in a reasonably quiet room and can tolerate average rather than class-leading battery endurance.
Look elsewhere if these are priorities
- ANC for commuting, shared rooms or persistent background noise.
- Simultaneous multipoint for two-device Bluetooth use.
- Dedicated chat mixing during competitive matches.
- The coolest possible earcups for hot rooms or marathon sessions.
- The longest battery runtime available around this price.
- A significantly lower purchase price than Logitech’s listed $249.99 US or £229.99 UK figures.
Bottom-line buying decision
The Pro X3 is a focused premium gaming headset: its strongest case is the combination of LIGHTSPEED responsiveness, wide-range wireless performance, accurate imaging, a capable detachable microphone and unusually flexible EQ. Its weaknesses are practical rather than cosmetic. Heat, average comparative battery life and the absence of ANC, multipoint and chat mixing reduce its value for buyers who need an all-purpose headset.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Choose it when competitive PC or PS5 play and voice clarity are your first priorities. Choose a more feature-rich model when ANC or multi-device operation is essential, or a cheaper model when price outweighs premium construction and microphone performance.
