GSC Game World’s May 5, 2025 Q2 roadmap previewed new weapons and quality-of-life work for S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl. The plans became concrete in Patch 1.5, which went live on June 25, 2025: it added the Three-Line Rifle, Kora handgun, mutant-part looting and a range of A-Life, inventory and repair changes. The roadmap was a plan, though; the later patch notes—not the roadmap alone—confirm what shipped. GSC’s Q2 roadmap said updates would be planned quarterly, with patch notes confirming when changes were live.

What did the Q2 2025 roadmap promise?

GSC published its “Roadmap for Q2 2025” on May 5, 2025. It presented the studio’s plans for the quarter and marked a move to quarterly roadmaps. The roadmap’s accompanying infographic is not available as readable text in the cited article, so its individual planned items should not be assigned specific delivery dates based on that graphic here.

The clearest way to check what happened is to compare the plan with the dated implementation announcement. On June 25, GSC published the Patch 1.5 notes, confirming that a number of the weapons, looting and quality-of-life features discussed for the update were live.

What arrived in Patch 1.5?

Two new weapons and mutant-part looting

GSC titled the June 25 release “Patch 1.5 Guns & Looting.” It added the Three-Line Rifle and Kora handgun, alongside mutant-part looting—a new way to collect parts from mutants. The patch also introduced the Water Electric Tornado anomaly. GSC’s Patch 1.5 announcement is the confirmation that these additions were live.

A-Life and character behavior

The patch notes describe changes to A-Life simulation: characters can be active beyond the player’s immediate view, continue pursuing goals, and potentially be encountered again. GSC also said characters would no longer respawn directly in front of the player and that their visualization range had increased. These are the behaviors the notes describe; they do not establish a guarantee that every NPC encounter will persist or recur in every playthrough.

Inventory, repairs and other quality-of-life changes

Patch 1.5 included several practical interface and maintenance improvements:

  • A larger player stash window.
  • An indication of available artifact slots for armor in the Upgrade tab.
  • An unlockable “Fix all” option at technicians.
  • Reload renewal for all weapons.
  • Improved sorting and scrolling in loot windows.
  • Clearer descriptions for weapon attachments.
  • An “Auto Detect” button for graphics settings.
  • Support for 21:9 and 32:9 aspect ratios.

The same announcement also lists bug and performance fixes, without those items being the focus of the roadmap’s new-feature summary.

How the roadmap timeline unfolded

  • May 5, 2025: GSC published its Q2 roadmap and said updates would be organized quarterly, with patch notes serving as confirmation of live changes.
  • June 25, 2025: Patch 1.5 went live with the weapons, mutant-part looting, A-Life changes and quality-of-life features described above.
  • August 13, 2025: GSC’s next roadmap identified an Unreal Engine 5.5.4 upgrade as its main near-term mission and warned that it could affect the timing of other updates. See the Q3 and Q4 roadmap.

The August schedule note is useful context, not a change to the Patch 1.5 record: it concerns the timing of later work. Roadmap dates and plans can shift, so a feature should be treated as shipped only when an implementation announcement or patch notes confirm it.

What this says about later S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 plans

In a March 26, 2026 Xbox Wire announcement, GSC Brand Manager Mykyta Horodyvskyi described Cost of Hope as the first major expansion and announced it for summer 2026. The announcement listed Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Xbox Cloud, PC storefronts and PS5 among its platforms. That is announcement and platform context; it does not establish whether the expansion subsequently launched. Read the Xbox Wire announcement.
