Not publicly. There is no announced standalone project carrying a title, and no company has been identified as its developer or publisher. No official store page, trailer, production statement or platform specification exists for a new Spawn game.

Until Image Comics, McFarlane, a publisher, a developer or an official platform holder makes a formal announcement, claims that a Spawn game is “coming” should be treated as speculation. In practical terms, there is currently no product that can be pre-ordered, wish-listed or assigned a launch year.

What Todd McFarlane has proposed
McFarlane has said a future Spawn game should be at least “five percent different” from other superhero games. The deliberately modest phrase is a challenge to avoid making another familiar comic-book action game, but it is not a specification for mechanics, scope or budget.
His most concrete idea is a journey through multiple periods and genres. The examples he has floated are:
- The Wild West: a setting associated with Gunslinger Spawn.
- A futuristic science-fiction era: a space-age or technologically advanced portion of the adventure.
- Medieval times: a historical-fantasy environment that would give Spawn a different visual and combat context.
That structure could allow different weapons, enemies and art directions in each chapter, but none of those details has been announced. There is no confirmed map design, mission list, playable character roster or explanation of how the eras would connect. Gunslinger Spawn’s mention does not establish that he would be playable, a co-op partner or even a character in the final game.
The comments also do not establish whether the proposed title would be an open-world game, a linear campaign, an action role-playing game, a character-action game or something else. “Five percent different” is a creative ambition, not a genre label.

When could the next Spawn game come out?
No release date or release window has been announced. The only timing discussion comes from a September 2023 interview in which McFarlane said he was waiting to see what happened with the Spawn movie before moving ahead with a standalone game.
In that interview, he described a conditional scenario: development might begin as the movie arrived, and a game could potentially follow about a year after a successful movie or television show. The wording was hypothetical. It was not a commitment to start production, and it did not promise a game one year after any specific film date.
A movie-related schedule would also depend on licensing, script and production decisions, a contracted studio, financing, platform certification and the time required for testing. None of those milestones has been publicly attached to a new Spawn game. Therefore, a year-after-the-movie estimate should not be converted into a 2027 or later release prediction.
What would count as real timing news?
A credible release update would identify at least a developer or publisher and provide an official announcement, teaser, store listing or financial statement. A vague social-media post, a casting rumor or a reference to a crossover season would not establish a standalone release date.
Will a new Spawn game be on PS5, Xbox or PC?
No platform has been confirmed. That includes PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, Nintendo Switch and any successor hardware. There is also no information about a possible simultaneous launch, console exclusivity or cloud version.

The PlayStation 2, Xbox and GameCube references sometimes attached to current Spawn stories are historical. They describe Spawn: Armageddon, the 2003 standalone game published by Namco, not an upcoming project.

Hardware expectations can be discussed only after a project exists. A modern game built around several large eras might target current consoles and PC, but that is an inference rather than a confirmed plan.
What was the last standalone Spawn game?
Spawn: Armageddon, released in 2003, remains the latest standalone Spawn title identified in current coverage. Namco published it for PlayStation 2, Xbox and GameCube. Its age explains why a new game would represent a major return rather than a routine sequel.
Spawn has remained visible in games through guest appearances. Earlier coverage notes appearances in SoulCalibur and Mortal Kombat 11. In 2023, Spawn was added to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone as part of Season 6, with use in Modern Warfare 3 through the carry-forward program. A 2026 report also discusses an upcoming appearance in Diablo Immortal.
These are licensed crossovers. They show that Spawn can be adapted to different game systems, but they do not indicate that a separate Spawn campaign is in development. A skin, operator, event character or guest fighter is not evidence of a new standalone game.

What would you do in a new Spawn game?
At present, nobody can answer that from confirmed design information. McFarlane has not announced combat systems, camera perspective, progression, mission structure, multiplayer modes or playable characters.
The proposed eras suggest several possibilities, but they should be read as questions for a future announcement rather than promises:

A sensible way to evaluate any future reveal is to separate confirmed features from interpretation. If a trailer shows Spawn using chains, that confirms an on-screen action; it does not automatically confirm a skill tree, a particular control scheme or a permanent upgrade system. If a developer describes three eras, look for whether they are full campaigns, levels within one story or cosmetic themes.

When a new Spawn project is finally revealed, these are the details that will answer the questions readers care about most:
- Identify the company. Confirm the named developer and publisher through an official announcement, not an unattributed rumor.
- Check the product type. Determine whether it is a full standalone release, downloadable expansion, mobile title, fighting-game guest appearance or another crossover.
- Verify platforms. Look for the exact consoles, PC storefronts and generation listed by the publisher. Do not infer a platform from a trailer logo or a previous license.
- Look for a real date. Distinguish a specific launch date, a year, a release window and a vague “in development” statement.
- Separate settings from gameplay. Establish whether the Wild West, science-fiction and medieval concepts are playable areas, story references or unused ideas.
- Check the campaign model. Find out whether the game is single-player, co-operative, competitive or a mixture, and whether an internet connection is required.
- Assess the movie connection. A film tie-in can influence characters and timing, but a game should still have its own developer, scope and launch information.
This checklist prevents the most common mistake in Spawn coverage: treating a creator’s wish list or a crossover promotion as proof of an announced game.

What can fans do while waiting?
There is no standalone release to pre-order or install. Fans can revisit Spawn: Armageddon on its original platforms, or see how the character has been adapted in crossover games. Those options provide playable Spawn appearances, but they should not be described as substitutes for a new mainline game.
Physical merchandise is another current way to engage with the character. The official McFarlane Toys Call of Duty Spawn 7-inch figure is based on the crossover appearance, not on an unannounced standalone title. Stock, pricing and retailer availability can change, so any purchase listing should be checked at the time it is published.
The current bottom line
Spawn does not have a confirmed new standalone game. As of October 19, 2026, there is no announced developer, publisher, release date or platform list. Todd McFarlane has expressed a desire for a game that is meaningfully different from other superhero titles and has suggested a journey through Wild West, futuristic and medieval settings. Those ideas are the most concrete creative clues available, but they remain unannounced concepts.
