That was 6:00 a.m. GMT; in places west of UTC, the local date was still January 29. The exact hour comes from a contemporaneous release schedule, while Pokémon’s official announcement confirms the January 30 date.
What time was Space-Time Smackdown released?
The launch time was 06:00 UTC on January 30, 2025. A contemporaneous schedule for the Dialga and Palkia booster packs lists the release at 06:00 GMT, the same time as UTC in January. Pokémon’s announcement confirms that the expansion was available on January 30, but does not give an hour: Pokémon’s announcement said it was then available to collect and play.
Pokémon Support says the game’s date changes at 6:00 a.m. UTC, while cautioning that a date change may not occur exactly at that time. That guidance supports the timing context; it is not, by itself, a guarantee of the expansion’s precise launch moment. See the Pokémon TCG Pocket date-change FAQ.
Why did some players see January 29?
The launch was one instant expressed on different local calendars, not separate January 29 and January 30 regional releases. At 06:00 UTC, the local date was January 29 in time zones west of UTC. For example, that instant was 10 p.m. on January 29 in UTC−8 and 1 a.m. on January 30 in UTC−5. Use your time zone’s offset for the historical date rather than assuming today’s daylight-saving setting.

What was included in Space-Time Smackdown?
Pokémon’s January 23 preview said the expansion would include over 140 cards and two featured booster packs centered on Legendary Pokémon Dialga and Palkia. Its official preview also highlighted Pokémon ex and Trainer cards; the official trailer showed immersive cards. “Over 140” is the announced figure, not an exact total.
Space-Time Smackdown was digital content for the iOS and Android game Pokémon TCG Pocket, rather than a physical booster release. The official announcement described it as available to collect and play in the app.
