Activision described the map as about 95% rebuilt from its 2020 version, while tuning movement and restoring classic-style gameplay elements. The train, Ranked Battle Royale and several limited-time modes arrived later in the season—not on launch day.
When did Verdansk return to Warzone?
Warzone’s Verdansk relaunch went live Thursday, April 3, 2025, at 9 a.m. PT. Black Ops 6 Season 03 began Wednesday, April 2, at 9 a.m. PT, creating a 24-hour gap between the two launches. The official Verdansk tour and launch timeline described the return as the first time players had been back on the map since December 2021.
The gap included a free trial of Black Ops 6 Multiplayer and Zombies, which also gave players a chance to unlock or level weapons. That trial was separate from access to Warzone: Xbox Wire described the battle royale as free-to-play and said Game Pass Core was not required to play it. Those details describe the 2025 launch context, not current platform requirements.
How different was the rebuilt Verdansk?
Activision characterized the relaunch map as “95%” rebuilt from the 2020 Verdansk. That is the publisher’s estimate, not the result of an independent map audit. Activision said most structures, roads and scenery were duplicated one-to-one, with the remaining changes focused on lighter adjustments and quality-of-life improvements.

The goal was to make the familiar layout recognizable while refreshing its presentation and access. The publisher cited enhanced details and improved access in some areas, and incorporated a few elements from later Modern Warfare (2019) seasons, including Metro Station entrances. The announced changes therefore were not a wholly new map, nor a claim that every location was untouched.
What changed in gameplay at launch?
Season 03 adjusted movement without removing the newer Omnimovement system. Activision said it reduced some speed increases and changed omni-sprint scaling and slide friction, aiming for movement closer to early Warzone while keeping the newer foundation. The return was a blend of old and new, rather than a full reversion to the original game’s movement rules.

The launch plan also brought back or adjusted familiar battle royale elements. Activision announced 150-player Battle Royale, classic-style contracts, in-match events, field upgrades, killstreaks and returning vehicles. Circle-collapse and loadout timing were also intended to evoke the original experience. Exterior Ascenders and access to additional areas and points of interest were planned to arrive as the season progressed, so they should not all be treated as day-one features.
What arrived later in Season 03 Reloaded?
The midseason update, Season 03 Reloaded, added a separate set of activities and features. Its announcement included a loot-filled train with access points, High Value Loot Zones, Big Game Bounty and Train Recon contracts, and the Triumph TF 250-X vehicle. Ranked Battle Royale also came to Verdansk during Reloaded—not at the April 3 launch.

Reloaded additionally introduced High Trip Resurgence and Massive Resurgence as limited-time modes. These were part of the season’s later rollout, rather than the initial set of launch-day offerings. Activision’s Season 03 Reloaded announcement distinguishes those midseason additions.

The season also included a Return to Verdansk event and weapons such as the Kilo 141, CR-56 AMAX and HDR. Event rewards and unlock conditions were tied to the 2025 season; their mention here does not mean they are currently obtainable.

The relaunch is a historical event: later official patch-note records show that the game continued to receive updates through August 2026. Those records do not establish whether Verdansk is in a live playlist on October 8, 2026. Playlist availability can change, so the 2025 launch announcement should not be used as proof that the map is playable now.
