In its July 2025 recap, the studio said it had collected “thousands of pieces of feedback” and described both complaints and features players praised. That is the developer’s summary, not a representative poll or a count of dissatisfied players.
What was wrong with the Chrono Odyssey beta?
The first closed beta ended in June 2025. In a July 1 recap, the studio highlighted requests for better performance stability and optimization, clearer combat feedback and animation polish, clearer quest objectives and map guidance, a more intuitive UI, and improved PC controller support. The recap also noted reports of frame drops and visual stuttering. These are themes selected by the studio from feedback it gathered, not independently measured complaint rates. Performance and stability
Performance and stability were the most prominent technical concerns in the studio’s later account. In a September 21, 2026 update, the Chrono Odyssey Development Team said frame drops and crashes had been among the most common concerns during the beta, including reports from players using higher-end PCs. The team said it was testing on a broader range of hardware with Quasar Zone. The update did not provide benchmark results or establish that the problems had been resolved. Developer’s Notes #6
Combat feedback, animation and controls
Players also criticized how combat felt and responded. The July recap called for better combat feedback and animation polish, while the 2026 update said work on movement, animations, input response and controls was continuing. The recap separately listed a need for better PC controller support.

Navigation and interface
Other complaints concerned the experience of finding and understanding things in the game: clearer quest objectives, better map guidance and a more intuitive interface. The July 29 developer note listed UI/UX and player guidance among the areas the team said it was addressing. That announcement describes development priorities, not confirmation that every planned change shipped. Developer’s Notes #3
Why did combat feel unresponsive?
In a July 4, 2025 note, the developers acknowledged that actions could feel sluggish or disconnected, with attacks, dodges and blocks sometimes failing to register as expected. The Chrono Odyssey Development Team said it believed client-server packet desynchronization contributed to the issue. It outlined plans to revise packet timing and structure and to separate motion and combat packet systems. That is the team’s diagnosis and proposed response; the post does not independently verify the cause or demonstrate that the changes fixed the problem. Did the developers respond to the beta feedback?
Yes. In a July 29, 2025 follow-up, the team described work across combat systems, open-world content, progression and gameplay flexibility, technical stability, art and animation, UI/UX, balance, social features, guidance, sound and narrative. A September 2026 update later said hardware testing and work on movement, animations, input response, controls and UI/UX were ongoing. Together, the posts show that the studio publicly identified feedback areas and described work in progress. They do not establish that every announced change was released or that the original problems were solved.
What did players like?
The July 1 recap was not solely negative. The studio said players praised Setera’s immersive, explorable world, the Chronotector system, character customization and the core gameplay’s potential. These are positive themes the studio chose to highlight, not proof of universal agreement. The recap also said the team had collected “thousands of pieces of feedback across Discord, X, surveys, and more”; that figure refers to feedback items, not distinct players or negative responses. The available official posts do not provide issue-by-issue counts, survey methodology or sentiment percentages.

How to read the “torn apart” reaction
The headline captures the force of the complaints, but it should not be mistaken for a measured verdict from all beta participants. The strongest supported account is narrower: the studio reported substantial feedback, named recurring concerns around performance and combat alongside usability and polish issues, and also reported positive reactions. Its September 2026 update indicates that PC optimization remained active work; it does not supply independent testing that would show how well the game ran or whether the beta’s problems had been fixed.
