When does flying unlock?
Flying becomes available at the beginning of Act 3, following the story sequence at The Monolith and the Paintress. You can use it once the party is back on the Continent’s open-world map. The game does not require a separate optional quest to earn the ability.

Do you need to raise Esquie’s relationship rank?
No. Flight is a main-story progression unlock for Esquie, rather than a reward for raising his relationship rank. Continue the main story through The Monolith sequence; there is no separate flight task to complete.
What does flying let you reach?
Flying expands exploration by opening access to elevated or otherwise gated locations around the Continent. One example is the Flying Manor, which is inaccessible before Esquie can fly. These locations are destinations to explore after the ability unlocks, not alternate ways to obtain it.

What if you have finished The Monolith but cannot fly?
The ability is available after the relevant story events and once you return to the open world. If you are still in a story scene or other enclosed area, continue until the party is back on the map. The available guides place the unlock in this sequence but do not establish a specific dialogue prompt or exact interaction to trigger it.
