For the Epic Games Launcher version of Fortnite on Windows, the usual executable path is:

Find Fortnite.exe through Epic Games Launcher
The most reliable method works even when Fortnite is not installed in the default directory:

- Open Library.
- Find Fortnite and click its three-dot menu.
- Select Manage.
- Choose Open Install Location or click the folder icon.
- Open
FortniteGame, thenBinaries, thenWin64.

The correct Fortnite executable name
The main game executable is generally:
FortniteClient-Win64-Shipping.exe“Fortnite.exe” is informal shorthand; a file literally named Fortnite.exe may not exist. The relevant folder is:
[Fortnite install folder]FortniteGameBinariesWin64Epic identifies the standard installation directory as C:Program FilesEpic Games, but the launcher’s Open Install Location command is authoritative for your installation. Epic’s installation-location guidance explains the default location.

If Windows hides “.exe”
File Explorer may hide extensions for known file types. You might therefore see:

FortniteClient-Win64-ShippingCheck that its type is Application. To show extensions in current Windows versions, open File Explorer and use View → Show → File name extensions.

Use Task Manager as a fallback
If you are unsure which installation is running:
- Launch Fortnite.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open Task Manager.
- Find the Fortnite process.
- Right-click it and choose Open file location.
This method is especially useful when multiple installations or moved game folders exist. Process names can vary, so treat it as a fallback rather than the primary method.
Search for the executable manually
In File Explorer, search for:
FortniteClient-Win64-Shipping.exeIf extensions are hidden, search for FortniteClient-Win64-Shipping. You can also search from Command Prompt:

where /r C: FortniteClient-Win64-Shipping.exeReplace C: with D:, E:, or the drive where Fortnite may be installed. Searching an entire drive can take time and will not find the file on drives you did not search.
Which file should you add to Windows Graphics settings?
To add Fortnite under Settings → System → Display → Graphics, select:

FortniteClient-Win64-Shipping.exeDo not select only EpicGamesLauncher.exe if you want the graphics preference to apply to the game itself. The launcher and the Fortnite client are separate programs.
Other files in the Win64 folder
You may see launcher-related or anti-cheat files in the same directory, including variants associated with Easy Anti-Cheat. Epic also documents an EasyAntiCheat folder beneath the Win64 directory. These files are not interchangeable with the main game client. For Windows Graphics settings, the clearest target is FortniteClient-Win64-Shipping.exe; firewall or anti-cheat troubleshooting may require different files depending on the specific error.
What to do if the file is missing
- Confirm you opened the Fortnite installation through Epic Games Launcher → Library → Fortnite → Manage → Open Install Location.
- Check
FortniteGameBinariesWin64, including the possibility that Windows is hiding.exe. - Search the actual installation drive for
FortniteClient-Win64-Shipping. - Use Epic Games Launcher’s file-verification option. Epic recommends verifying Fortnite files as an early PC troubleshooting step. Open Epic’s verification guidance.
- Check Windows Security or your antivirus quarantine for a blocked or quarantined file.
Do not download a replacement executable from a third-party website. If verification cannot restore the file, repair or reinstall Fortnite through Epic Games Launcher. Adding an antivirus exclusion should be a narrowly targeted last resort after confirming that the folder is the genuine Fortnite installation, because exclusions reduce protection.

You can locate the executable, but launching it directly is not always equivalent to starting Fortnite through Epic Games Launcher. The game may depend on the launcher and anti-cheat components, so use the normal Epic Games Launcher shortcut unless you have a specific troubleshooting reason to run the file path.
Other platforms
This article applies to Fortnite installed through Epic Games Launcher on Windows. PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch do not expose a Windows executable. Android and iOS use mobile application packages, while cloud gaming runs Fortnite on a remote server rather than in a local Windows game folder.
