Wizard101 has no functional “jewel crafting station” for socketing. Jewel socketing is taught by Katherine Rockhammer in her shop in the Wizard City Shopping District, and that is the place to go. A decorative jewel crafting table is a separate furniture item that does not do socketing.
Where to learn jewel socketing
Wizard101’s official Jewel Socketing guide says that Wizards level 15 and above who have completed “The Razor’s Edge” should visit Eloise Merryweather in the Wizard City Commons to take the quest “Digging Into a New Challenge.” The guide then names Katherine Rockhammer’s shop as where you learn the process. Its exact wording is: “Katherine Rockhammer, in her shop in the Wizard City Shopping District, will then teach you the ways of Jewel Socketing.” The guide is the official player guide and does not attribute that sentence to a named author.
The quest path, step by step
- Reach level 15 and complete “The Razor’s Edge.”
- Travel to Eloise Merryweather in the Wizard City Commons and accept “Digging Into a New Challenge.”
- Go to Katherine Rockhammer in her shop in the Wizard City Shopping District to be taught jewel socketing.
How socketing works once you have it
- Open the gear interface and select eligible gear.
- Use “Add Jewels” and affix a jewel that matches the shape of an available socket.
- Jewels carry minimum level requirements, so check the level before you buy or craft one.
- Choosing “Shatter” on an affixed jewel destroys it. The official guide warns about this, so avoid it unless you intend to lose the jewel.
The jewel crafting table is decorative
If you searched for a “jewel crafting table,” you are probably thinking of a furniture piece. Wizard101 forum discussions describe that table as decorative rather than a functional station. Placing it in a house will not unlock socketing, and it will not replace Katherine Rockhammer as the place to learn it. Forum posts dated to the community threads reviewed do not give a patch or version for this description, so treat it as the current player consensus rather than a developer statement. The relevant forum thread is Wizard101 forum: give it up.
Crafting stations for other recipes
If your question is about crafting an item rather than socketing, the station you need depends on the recipe. Each recipe names the Crafting Station type it requires, and the stations are not interchangeable across all recipes. To check, open the Crafting window and hover over the station icon to see the type of Crafting Table the recipe needs. The official Crafting guide also states that the first Crafting Station is obtained through Eudora Tangletree’s quests in Wizard City Olde Town. The guide is at Wizard101 Crafting.

If you cannot find Eloise’s quest or Katherine’s shop
The quest path above is the documented route, but players sometimes report that the quest is not offered. In that case, check these points in order:
- Confirm that your character is level 15 or higher.
- Confirm that “The Razor’s Edge” is complete in your quest log history, not only in progress.
- Look for Eloise Merryweather in the Wizard City Commons.
- If the quest still does not appear, an administrator response on the Wizard101 forum suggests visiting Katherine Rockhammer in the Jewel shop in the Shopping District. The thread is Wizard101 forum: Jewel crafting quest.
