Recent player reports say it was moved from the main portal room.
How to find the Boralus portal in Stormwind
- Go to Stormwind’s Mage District and enter the portal room in the Mage Tower, also called the Wizard’s Sanctum.
- In the main portal area, find the stairs beside the fountain and go up.
- Follow the upper hallway to the end.
- Turn right. The Boralus portal is reported to be the first portal on the left in this second room.
This location comes from player reports on Blizzard’s official forum in January and February 2026, rather than a current official patch note: Blizzard forum discussion.
Why the map or quest marker may point elsewhere
Some players report that map or quest directions continued to show the portal’s former location after it moved. Follow the upper-room route and look for the portal itself rather than relying on an older marker.
What to check if the portal is missing
Player reports suggest that character progression through the Battle for Azeroth introduction may affect whether the portal appears, and one commenter says access may vary by character. Check that character’s quest log and Kul Tiras introduction progress. Blizzard’s 2020 catch-up guide said Alliance characters needed the introductory “A Nation Divided” quest series for the progression it covered; that historical guidance does not establish the current unlock requirement for every character: Blizzard’s 2020 catch-up guide.

Where Boralus is, and how to return to Stormwind
Boralus is the capital of Kul Tiras, in Tiragarde Sound. Blizzard’s visitor guide says the Tradewinds Market has portals to Stormwind, Ironforge, and Exodar, as well as a ship to Stormwind. The guide provides city-return context, not directions to the relocated Stormwind portal: Blizzard’s Tiragarde Sound guide.
