On Windows and Mac, The Sims 4 saves are in the saves folder inside Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4. Console players use the game’s Load Game menu to recover saves; EA’s guidance does not provide a user-browsable Xbox or PlayStation file path.
Where The Sims 4 saves are stored on Windows and Mac
Windows
Open Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > saves. The folder path is DocumentsElectronic ArtsThe Sims 4saves. The files in saves are your local game saves. See EA’s backup and reset guide.
Mac
In Finder, open Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 > saves. EA’s The Sims 4 FAQ describes this location and the process for moving saves between PC and Mac.
If you can’t find Documents
Check that you are looking in Documents for the computer profile you use to play. Documents may be redirected or synced differently on a particular setup; EA’s cited guidance does not specify a universal OneDrive or iCloud path, so check your own folder settings rather than assuming a different fixed location.

Back up your saves before changing files
For a safe backup, copy the entire The Sims 4 folder—not only saves—to another location and give the copy a recognizable name. It contains other user data, and EA’s backup guide describes copying and restoring this folder. Keep the backup before resetting the game or troubleshooting files.
If you are diagnosing a possibly corrupted save, EA recommends copying individual save files back from the backup one at a time and testing after each. This can help isolate a problematic file without replacing all the backed-up user data at once.

Move saves from PC to Mac
- On the PC, copy the complete
savesfolder fromDocumentsElectronic ArtsThe Sims 4to a flash drive. - On the Mac, open
Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4in Finder. - Copy the transferred
savesfolder into that location. If asavesfolder is already there, rename it first to preserve it, or remove it if you no longer need its contents.
EA documents this PC-to-Mac copy method in its FAQ. A flash drive is for this transfer; it is not needed for routine access to local saves or for in-game recovery.
Recover an earlier save in the game
- Open Load Game.
- Select the game you want to recover.
- Choose Recover Save, shown with a floppy-disk icon.
- Pick the save point you want, then select Play.
These steps apply to EA’s recovery guidance for supported desktop and console platforms. On Xbox or PlayStation, use the game menu rather than looking for the Windows or Mac folder; EA’s sources describe recovery through Load Game but do not give a browsable console filesystem path. Manual saves and Autosave are different
EA says you can make manual saves from the Options Menu in the Main Menu, Live Mode, or Build Mode, or use a Save Reminder. The game has one Autosave slot: each time Autosave runs, it replaces the previous Autosave, and EA says older Autosaves cannot be recovered. Manual saves are the option when you want multiple recovery points.

No. EA says The Sims 4 does not support EA app cloud storage for save files. Do not count on the app to sync or restore these saves; keep a separate copy of the The Sims 4 folder if you need a backup. EA explains the limitation in its official FAQ.
