The preorder window opened on September 26, 2024, and Sony set the collection’s release for November 21, 2024. In Canada, the best-documented preorder was a Best Buy Canada listing priced at CAD $99.99 in September 2024. Anything you find today is a secondary listing, a refurbished unit, or a marketplace sale, so check the seller, condition and stock before you buy.
What the original preorder was
The controller is officially called the DualSense Wireless Controller – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition. Sony Interactive Entertainment announced it as a standalone item in the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection in a PlayStation.Blog post dated September 19, 2024, titled “Celebrating 30 years of PlayStation with a nostalgic look.” Sony said preorders would begin September 26, 2024, and that the collection would release on November 21, 2024. Sony framed the items as limited editions.
Those dates are historical. A product page that still shows a preorder button does not mean the 2024 preorder is open. Treat any preorder label on a 2026 page as a leftover until the retailer confirms the order and delivery date at checkout.
The Canadian preorder in 2024
Sony’s announcement pointed customers in regions without direct.playstation.com to participating retailers. Canada was not on Sony’s list of direct.playstation.com markets, so Canadian buyers had to use a retailer. MobileSyrup reported on September 26, 2024 that Best Buy Canada had a preorder listing for the controller at CAD $99.99. That figure was the 2024 launch price reported by MobileSyrup and is not a current price.

Where things stand in 2026
Retailer pages that are indexed today do not show a new, orderable controller at a confirmed price. The table below lists what the Canadian sources show as of October 2026. Where a current value could not be confirmed, the table says so.
| Source | What the page shows | Seller and condition | Current price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Best Buy Canada (2024 preorder report) | Preorder listing reported by MobileSyrup on September 26, 2024 | Best Buy Canada; new at the time | CAD $99.99 in 2024 only; not stated for today |
| Best Buy Canada (anniversary page, indexed) | Search result showed a refurbished controller listing marked “Good” and “Available to ship” | Refurbished, “Good” grade | Not stated in the search result |
| Walmart Canada | Product page for the exact controller exists | One listing sold by the marketplace seller Play Canada, not by Walmart | Not stated in the indexed results |
| PlayStation Canada (collection page) | Lists the 30th Anniversary DualSense controller; search snippet shows a preorder button | Official Sony collection page | Not stated on the collection page in the indexed results |
| Amazon.ca | No current listing confirmed | Not confirmed | Not stated |
The only Canadian retailer with a confirmed new-unit price is Best Buy Canada’s 2024 preorder, and that price no longer applies. The refurbished Best Buy Canada result and the Walmart Canada marketplace listing are both used-or-third-party offers, not new stock from the original launch.

How to check a current listing before you buy
- Open the product page directly from the retailer’s own site. Do not rely on a search snippet, which may be out of date.
- Confirm the exact product name: DualSense Wireless Controller – 30th Anniversary Limited Edition. Other PlayStation DualSense colours and bundles are different products.
- Check the condition label. A “Good” or “Refurbished” grade is not new stock.
- Check the seller. On Walmart Canada, a marketplace seller such as Play Canada is a separate business from Walmart, so its returns and warranty terms may differ.
- Check the price at the final checkout step, including shipping, taxes and any pickup fee. Do not use the 2024 CAD $99.99 figure as a benchmark.
- Check fulfilment: whether it ships or is available for in-store pickup, the estimated delivery date, and the return window.
- If the page only offers a preorder for a date that has already passed, do not pay. Ask the seller in writing for the actual ship date.
Practical options if you want the controller
- Buy a refurbished unit from the retailer if the grade and return terms suit you. This is the most direct route on the indexed Best Buy Canada page.
- Buy from a marketplace seller only after reading the seller’s rating, return policy and whether it is new or used.
- Watch PlayStation Canada for any new stock announcement. Its collection page lists the controller, but the indexed results did not confirm that new units are for sale there now.
Sony described the collection as limited, so supply may not return to 2024 levels. Expect higher prices from resellers than the original CAD $99.99 launch price.
