If you mean the 2024 movie music, look for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (Music from the Motion Picture), a Tom Holkenborg score album. Paramount Music’s official album page directs listeners to Apple Music, Amazon Music and Qobuz. Apple Music lists a December 20, 2024 release with 33 songs.
If you mean music from the original video game, you are looking for a game release rather than that film-score album. Sega’s 1994 Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is a separate title, and Sonic Origins Plus includes the combined Sonic 3 & Knuckles game. The two products have different formats, platforms and buying considerations.

Which “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” soundtrack are you trying to buy?
The phrase “Sonic the Hedgehog 3 soundtrack” can identify two unrelated things:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- The 2024 film score: Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (Music from the Motion Picture), composed by Tom Holkenborg and released as a 33-song digital album.
- Music from the 1994 game: the soundtrack associated with Sega’s original Sonic the Hedgehog 3, normally obtained by buying and playing a game release that includes the title rather than by purchasing the 2024 movie album.
Check the product title before paying. The film album’s wording includes “Music from the Motion Picture,” while a game listing should identify Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Sonic 3 & Knuckles or a collection that contains it.

Where to buy the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 soundtrack (2024 film score)
Use Paramount Music’s official album page as the starting point
Paramount Music’s album page is the most reliable route identified for the film score. It links to Apple Music, Amazon Music and Qobuz, allowing you to choose a destination that operates in your country and works with your account. Treat those links as official destinations, not as a guarantee that every service offers the same purchase or streaming option in every territory.
Retailer catalogs, licensing and account requirements can change by country. A page that offers the album for streaming in one market may offer a purchase download, a different version or no access at all in another. Open the official Paramount listing first, select your region where prompted, and confirm the album title and track count on the destination service.
What the Apple Music listing establishes
Apple Music identifies the album as released on December 20, 2024 and lists 33 songs. Its metadata credits the release as © 2024 Paramount Pictures, under exclusive license to Milan Records, a label of Sony Music Entertainment. Those details let you distinguish the movie score from older game-music uploads or unofficial playlists.

Check the track list before you buy or save
One useful identifier is “Live And Learn (Junkie XL version),” which appears in the film-score album’s track list. Its presence does not turn the album into a release of the 1994 game soundtrack; it is one track in Holkenborg’s movie-related album. Compare the complete listing, not just the word “Sonic,” because third-party playlists and game-music compilations can use similar artwork and search terms.
Streaming versus a permanent purchase
The official destinations may present different listening rights. A streaming subscription generally gives access while the account and licensing remain active. A store may also offer a purchase download, but the available format and download rights depend on the service and region. The cited listings do not establish a universal file format, lossless option or permanent-download offer, so verify those fields on the checkout screen.
- Open Paramount Music’s official album page.
- Choose one of its linked services that serves your country.
- Search for the full title, including “Music from the Motion Picture.”
- Confirm Tom Holkenborg is credited and that the listing contains 33 songs.
- Check whether the button says stream, buy, download or add to library, and review any regional restrictions.
- After payment or saving, open the album details in your account to confirm that all listed tracks are available.
Is there a CD or vinyl copy of the film score?
No official CD or vinyl edition is established by the album information cited here. Paramount’s page points to digital music services, and Apple Music supplies the release metadata, but neither source confirms a physical pressing. Do not assume that a marketplace listing, a fan-made disc or a generic “soundtrack CD” is an authorized edition.

If a physical format matters to you, check a future announcement from Paramount or Milan Records and inspect the seller’s product details before ordering. A legitimate announcement should identify the label, format, catalog information and territories served. Until those details are published, the supported buying path is the official digital destinations linked by Paramount Music.

How the 2024 film score differs from the 1994 game release

Where to buy a release that includes the classic game
Sonic Origins Plus
Sega’s online manual for Sonic Origins Plus includes Sonic 3 & Knuckles in the collection. That makes the collection a relevant modern route for someone who wants to play the classic content, hear its original in-game music and keep the game alongside other classic Sonic titles.
The manual confirms inclusion; it does not establish which physical editions are currently stocked, which retailer serves your country or whether a particular listing contains a cartridge, disc or download code. Before buying, read the edition name and platform field carefully. A listing for a different Sonic Origins edition may not have the same contents as Sonic Origins Plus.
Rank #4
Original-platform documentation
Sega’s Sonic Channel product information records the original Sonic the Hedgehog 3 release in Japan as May 27, 1994 and lists Mega Drive, Windows PC and Wii as platforms. These are historical product details. They document where Sega released or documented versions of the game; they are not proof that an original cartridge, disc or download is currently sold.
If you are shopping for original hardware software, verify the region, platform compatibility and condition. A Japanese Mega Drive cartridge may not be the same product as a release for another market. Likewise, a used Windows PC or Wii listing can involve hardware, account or operating-system requirements that are not described by the historical page.
Choosing the right purchase for your goal
You want the music from the 2024 movie
- Start with Paramount Music’s official album page.
- Choose Apple Music, Amazon Music or Qobuz according to your country and preferred access model.
- Match the full motion-picture title and the 33-song listing.
- Decide whether streaming access is enough or whether the destination offers a download you specifically want.
You want to play the classic game
- Look for Sonic Origins Plus and confirm that the edition includes Sonic 3 & Knuckles.
- Check the platform, region and edition before checkout.
- For original releases, treat Mega Drive, Windows PC and Wii as historical platform information and verify modern compatibility independently.
You want both
Buy or add the film score through one of Paramount’s linked music services, then obtain a game edition that explicitly includes Sonic 3 & Knuckles. They complement one another but are not interchangeable: the album is a 2024 movie-music product, while the game release supplies the playable 1994-era content and its in-game soundtrack.

Common buying mistakes and how to avoid them
Mistaking a game soundtrack for the movie album
Search results can mix fan uploads, game music, film music and unrelated playlists. The phrase “Music from the Motion Picture,” Tom Holkenborg’s credit and the 33-song Apple Music listing are the practical checks for the official film album.
Assuming every service has the same rights
Paramount’s links identify official destinations, but country licensing and account status determine what you can actually stream or purchase. Confirm the action available on your local page instead of relying on a result from another country.
Assuming an old platform listing means current stock
The Mega Drive, Windows PC and Wii details on Sega’s page describe the product historically. They do not guarantee a retailer has a new copy, a working download or compatible hardware today.

Read the contents list for Sonic Origins Plus and verify the explicit inclusion of Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Do not infer inclusion from a thumbnail, a seller’s shortened title or a listing that only says “Sonic Origins.”
What is and is not confirmed about availability
The available official information confirms the film album’s identity, composer, Apple Music release date, 33-song count and Paramount’s links to three digital music services. It also confirms that Sega’s Sonic Origins Plus manual includes Sonic 3 & Knuckles, and that Sega documents the original game with a Japanese release date of May 27, 1994 and historical Mega Drive, Windows PC and Wii platforms.
It does not confirm a current price, a universal streaming or download right, an official CD or vinyl edition, current physical game inventory or a retailer that serves every country. Those details must be checked on the destination service or store page at the time you buy.
