The most dependable lead for finding bears in No Rest for the Wicked is a pair near a small waterfall at the northern end of Marin Woods. The second lead is Hunter’s Vale, where players report bears appearing after the area is destroyed and The Lost Huntress is defeated. Both come from player accounts rather than an official location guide, so treat them as reported locations, not confirmed coordinates.
Where is the bear in Marin Woods?
The northern waterfall pair
Players describe two bears near the bottom of a waterfall at the northwest end of Marin Woods. Accounts differ on the exact approach, but one route report walks through it in this order:

- Start at the Marin Woods Whisper and cross the bridge heading north.
- Turn left at the hut.
- Continue west along the path.
- Descend by the mushrooms and vines toward the small waterfall and its shallow water.
A second account reaches the same general area by a tree ladder, follows the route north, and descends by vines to the shallow water. The shared landmarks are the north side of Marin Woods, the waterfall, and the descent from the upper route. If one description doesn’t match what you see, check the others against those landmarks.
Players say these bears respawn. One report gives a wait of roughly 30 minutes, but that is a single player’s estimate, not a documented respawn timer.

Where do bears appear in Hunter’s Vale?
A community thread says bears begin appearing in Hunter’s Vale once the area is destroyed and The Lost Huntress is defeated. Replies mention two bears that replace a corrupted bear encounter, plus additional bears reported near the Lumberyard, the windmill, the approach to Marin Village, and Lowland Meadows. The thread does not show that every player will see the same number of bears or the same spawn state, so use the named areas as a search starting point rather than a fixed checklist.
Why does one Marin Woods bear not come back?
A March 2026 report says a bear in a secret area of Marin Woods does not respawn after it is collected, and the area’s special loot does not respawn either. A forum reply agreed that this matches how map loot generally works. That makes this bear a one-time encounter, unlike the waterfall pair. Don’t assume every Marin Woods bear behaves the same way; check each spot separately.

How the bear locations compare
The reports don’t support ranking these spots by spawn rate or drop yield, so the table compares what is reported about each one.
| Location | Progression needed | Route clarity | Reported respawn | Purpose | Source basis |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Northern Marin Woods waterfall pair | Not stated | Moderate; accounts differ on the approach | Yes, per player reports; the roughly 30-minute figure is one player’s estimate | Encounter | Community route reports |
| Hunter’s Vale bears | Area destroyed and The Lost Huntress defeated | Low; named areas only | Not stated | Encounter | Community thread and replies |
| Secret Marin Woods bear | Not stated | Not stated | No, per a March 2026 report | Encounter with one-time loot | Single community report with forum agreement |
Where do you get bear paws?
Players report that bear paws can drop from bears, but outcomes vary and no reliable drop rate has been established. Two other leads come up in discussion:

- Hardcover
- A Marin Village NPC is reported to exchange bear hearts for bear paws. Daily caps and unlock requirements are not verified.
- A 2024 thread describes finding bear paws in random chests. That advice may predate later game updates, so confirm it in the current version before planning a run around it.
What the game itself confirms
The community wiki lists Torn Bear as an enemy type. It does not provide an authoritative list of bear locations. No official developer guide to bear coordinates or respawn rules is available to cite, so the details above rest on player reports. Game updates can change any of them.
