Oboro Village has ten listed collectibles across four categories: five Oboro Relics, two Secret Chests, two Elite Squad encounters, and one Ankou Rift. The ten are category counts, not ten identical objects. Several finds need abilities you may not have on a first visit, so a complete sweep usually means returning to the village from the world map once you have unlocked them.

What you are collecting

Both walkthrough sources agree on the counts. The table lists each category, the ability the guides tie to it, and the checkpoint that anchors the route.

Collectible Count Ability the guides name Reward or result Nearest shrine
Oboro Relic 5 Sword Dive, which Into Indie Games says is needed to obtain all five Not stated in either guide Village Ruins, Antechamber, Attic, Collapsed Bridge, and the outside area after Relic 4
Secret Chest 1 1 Ninja Claws Kunai Burst Ninpo Attic Shrine
Secret Chest 2 1 Sword Dive Max Kunai Boost Attic Shrine
Elite Squad encounter 1 1 Cannon Punch, per Into Indie Games; Selphie1999Gaming does not name an ability gate Kunai Killer Amulet, granted once both Elite Squad encounters are completed Antechamber Shrine
Elite Squad encounter 2 1 Ninja Hook and Ninja Claws, per Into Indie Games Kunai Killer Amulet, granted once both Elite Squad encounters are completed Collapsed Bridge Shrine
Ankou Rift 1 Sword Dive, to break the flaming barrier, per Into Indie Games Not stated in either guide Attic Shrine, via the lower section

The independent cross-check, Selphie1999Gaming by Reda Line dated September 4, 2025, matches the five relics, two secrets, two Elite Squads, and one Rift. The Into Indie Games guide by Muhit Rahman was accessed October 8, 2026, and its page does not show a publication date.

Abilities to check before you start

Some collectibles are locked behind Ningi abilities. Into Indie Games lists the following gates, and the other guide agrees on the ones it names.

  • Sword Dive: needed for all five Oboro Relics, Secret Chest 2, the flaming barrier that guards the Ankou Rift, and the Yokai Barrier on the floor near Village Ruins Shrine.
  • Ninja Claws: needed for Secret Chest 1 and part of the Elite Squad 2 route.
  • Ninja Hook: needed for the Elite Squad 2 route.
  • Cannon Punch: needed for the Yokai Barrier on the left ledge above Antechamber Shrine, according to Into Indie Games.

Muhit Rahman’s guide puts the core rule plainly: “Some collectibles require Ningi abilities that you’ll unlock later on. You can return to these locations from the world map once you have them.”

Neither guide gives an ability gate for Oboro Relics 2, 4, or 5. If you do not have the ability for a route in front of you, come back to the checkpoint once you have it.

Route by shrine

Each checkpoint below groups the collectibles you reach from it. Where the two guides describe the same spot differently, both descriptions are given. Use the visible barrier, plank, chest, or enemy marker in the game to confirm you are in the right place.

Village Ruins Shrine: Oboro Relic 1

Backtrack from Village Ruins Shrine to the earlier section and find a small wooden tower with a Yokai Barrier on the floor. Use Sword Dive to break through and open the chest that holds the relic.

SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance (PC)
  • The iconic SHINOBI returns in an all-new 2D action platformer with a unique hand-drawn look created by the team behind the hit brawler Streets of Rage 4.

Selphie1999Gaming describes the same area as the Village Ruins checkpoint and says to break a plank at the wooden structure. The guides differ on whether the obstacle is a barrier or a plank, so treat the floor obstacle and the chest as your confirmation.

Antechamber Shrine: Elite Squad 1 and Oboro Relic 2

For the first Elite Squad encounter, climb from Antechamber Shrine to the upper platform and reach the left ledge. Into Indie Games says the Yokai Barrier there requires Cannon Punch, and the encounter marker sits inside it. Selphie1999Gaming places the encounter on the upper-left platform and does not name the ability.

For Oboro Relic 2, start at Antechamber Shrine and head right through the enemy rooms. Continue through the narrow passage to the chest. Selphie1999Gaming describes pushing an obstacle and descending through the passages to reach it.

Attic Shrine: Secret Chests, Ankou Rift, and Oboro Relic 3

Attic Shrine is the hub for four of the collectibles, so work through it in the order below.

  • Secret Chest 1 (Ninja Claws): from Attic Shrine, go left through the parkour section. The chest holds Kunai Burst Ninpo.
  • Secret Chest 2 (Sword Dive): from the shrine, go right to the Yokai Barrier on the floor and break through with Sword Dive. The chest holds a Max Kunai Boost.
  • Ankou Rift: descend from Attic Shrine to the lower section. Into Indie Games says to break the barrier in the flames with Sword Dive. Selphie1999Gaming describes dropping down, taking a chain, and breaking a plank to reach the Rift. The two guides agree on the area but differ on the first step.
  • Oboro Relic 3: Into Indie Games places it beyond the burning-floor barrier below Attic Shrine. Run up the wall past the Grim Reaper and open the middle chest of three. Selphie1999Gaming says to go left and climb from the Rift entrance to a platform with three chests. Check all three chests if the middle one is empty.

Collapsed Bridge Shrine: Elite Squad 2 and Oboro Relic 4

  • Elite Squad 2: head left from Collapsed Bridge Shrine and follow the parkour passage. Into Indie Games says this route requires Ninja Hook and Ninja Claws. Selphie1999Gaming describes a hook-and-wall traversal route to the Elite Squad marker.
  • Oboro Relic 4: Into Indie Games places the chest in the large chamber with a burning cauldron. Reach the upper level, move to the far left, and drop to the small ledge below. Selphie1999Gaming describes using the upper platforms and dropping near the wall.

Outside after Relic 4: Oboro Relic 5

Continue forward from Oboro Relic 4 to the outside area and open the ground chest. Into Indie Games calls this relic practically unmissable. Selphie1999Gaming says it sits just before the shopkeeper, which gives you a second confirmation point.

Tracking your completion

SEGA’s online manual says stage completion percentage rises as you explore, clear challenges, and obtain secrets. The stage map shows the places you have reached and marks locations such as treasure chests and shops. Unlocked checkpoints allow fast travel from the start of a stage or from the game menu, which makes revisiting gated areas practical once you have the abilities above.

The manual also explains chest tiers. Ordinary chests can hold currency, health orbs, and shuriken. Medium and large chests can hold special items such as Amulets, Ninpo, and Oboro Relics. The manual does not list which tier each Oboro Village chest belongs to, so check the map icon before you assume a chest is empty of relics.
