Elite enemies in Octopath Traveler 0 are oversized, fixed encounters on the field, and there is no single map marker that lists them all. The most reliable approach is a systematic sweep of each area, starting with the roads around Wishvale and the major cities, then revisiting older regions as new routes open later in the story. The one elite location that a current unofficial guide names outright is Gigantes on the Path to Waterpool Caves.
How elites appear on the map
Elites are visibly larger and more menacing than ordinary field monsters, and they stay put. They are not random encounters. You start the fight by touching the monster, and you can walk away to prepare or come back later. The OT0 Field Guide, Octopath Traveler 0 Elite Enemies: Locations, Weaknesses, and Rewards (updated September 2026, labeled for game version 1.0.7.0), says elites respawn after an area reset, which most players trigger by fast-traveling away and back.

This is an unofficial fan guide, not a Square Enix publication. Treat its location claims as its own, and check them against your game.
A map sweep that catches hidden elites
Because elites can sit off the main sightline, a quick run along the main path will miss some of them. Use this order in every area:

- Walk the main road from one end to the other.
- Check every fork, dead end, bridge, and side path, including the space behind treasure chests.
- Look at cliffs, staircases, and underpasses, since elevation changes often hide an enemy from the main route.
- Treat each dungeon entrance and exit, and the approach to it, as a separate map. The guide warns that these can each hold their own elite.
- Return to older areas after story chapters, because new routes and shortcuts can open later.
- Keep a region checklist that marks each enemy as unfound, found but not defeated, or defeated. Add the weaknesses you discover, so you do not have to test them again on the next visit.
Where to search, stage by stage
The guide groups its search areas by point in the story. These groups are a search plan, not a complete index of elite positions.

The one named location
The guide’s only directly named elite location is Gigantes, on the Path to Waterpool Caves. It calls this a high-value late-game encounter and notes that Gigantes is also a capture target in the Monster Arena. Beyond this, the guide does not offer verified coordinates for each elite. If you are looking for a specific elite by name, the sweep method above is the practical route.

Why elites are worth hunting
The same guide says the game has 52 or more elite enemies. That figure is its documented minimum, not a confirmed total. It also states that Radiant Cornerstones come only from elites, and that they are used for building upgrades in Wishvale. According to the guide, a level 2 upgrade costs 2 cornerstones, and a level 3 upgrade costs 4 more. These are the guide’s figures, not official numbers from the publisher.
Farming elites on repeat
Because elites respawn, they can be farmed. A separate unofficial guide, Octopath Traveler 0 Radiant Cornerstone Farming: The Elite Enemy Loop, recommends a circuit of five to eight stops your party can defeat quickly, linked by fast travel you have already unlocked. If the first encounters have not reset by the time you return, lengthen the loop. That five-to-eight count is the guide’s advice, not a rule of the game.

The same guide recommends the Scales decoration to raise the drop rate. Confirm that the decoration is available to you and check its effect in your own game before you rely on it.
- Compare each stop by the number of fast-travel jumps it takes, how long the fight lasts, and whether the elite has respawned when you return.
- Drop a stop from the loop if it takes too long or does not reset.
Preparing for an elite fight
Elite weaknesses can fall to any of eight weapon types (Sword, Polearm, Dagger, Axe, Bow, Staff, Tome, and Fan) and six elements (Fire, Ice, Lightning, Wind, Light, and Dark). The guide suggests covering several weapon types across your front row, and carrying elemental coverage in the back row. You find weaknesses by testing attacks, so write down what works and reuse it on later visits.

Judge whether to fight by what your party can do, not by a level number. If you cannot reveal a weakness or break the enemy safely, mark it and come back once your party is stronger. The guide treats elites as optional, so postponing one has no cost beyond the reward you would have collected.
