Luigi’s Mansion 3 has 102 gems, six on each of its 17 floors. Use the floor table below to see which rooms hold them, then check the tool and return-trip notes before you head back to a floor you have already cleared. The room-by-room solutions and maps come from Nintendo Life’s Luigi’s Mansion 3 gem guide (2022), which this article follows for floor and room names.
Floor order and gem colors
The hotel’s floors do not run in a single numbered sequence. The guide covers them in this order:
- Basement B1, then 1F through 9F
- Basement B2
- 10F through 15F
Every floor uses the same six gem colors: white, red, blue, green, violet, and gold. When you look up a gem, the color tells you which of the six you are hunting for on that floor.
Gems by floor
The table lists each floor’s name in the guide and the rooms where its six gems are found. Floors where the guide does not give a specific room list are described by their themed areas, and the full guide gives the exact placement for each color.

Tools that unlock gems
Three tools account for most of the gems that are not simply sitting in plain view. Each one is needed on specific floors, so the floor’s entry in the guide tells you which to bring.
Poltergust G-00
The Poltergust is the main way to find gems. Nintendo’s Play Nintendo tips page describes using it to suck up an object and fire it at other items to uncover treasure, including gems. The same tips page notes that Suction Shot or Burst can destroy furniture, which is sometimes how a hidden gem is revealed.
Dark-Light attachment
Dark-Light reveals invisible objects such as furniture and ghost footprints, and it can pull items out of paintings, according to Nintendo’s tips page. You obtain it on your first visit to 2F. On B1, Dark-Light is needed for some gems; the violet gem there is a painting that only shows up under Dark-Light.

- Luigi can call upon and control Gooigi, his all-green doppelganger, who can do what Luigi can’t; Gooigi can slip through tight spaces, walk on spikes, and help Luigi overcome obstacles
- Change between Luigi and Gooigi in single player, or let a friend play as Gooigi for 2-player co-op
- Up to 8 players can work together to ascend the Scarescaper via local wireless or online; It’s Team Luigi vs. Team Gooigi in a mini-game battle to see which is the ultimate team of ghost hunters
Gooigi
Gooigi joins Luigi on your first visit to 5F, and the guide uses it for several routes and gems afterward. Some 5F doors and routes need a two-character plunger interaction, and the green gem on 13F requires Gooigi to be sent through the shower room’s central drain. Gooigi is also needed for some gems on B1 and 1F.

Several gems cannot be taken on the first pass through a floor. Nintendo says revisiting completed floors is a normal way to search for more treasure, so plan these as expected follow-ups rather than missed collectibles.
- B1: Gems that need Dark-Light (available from 2F) or Gooigi (available from 5F) require coming back down after those tools are unlocked.
- 1F: Dark-Light and Gooigi are both needed for some of the six gems here.
- 2F: At least one gem requires a return after you gain access to the east wing following 5F.
- B2: The old reservoir is inaccessible until after your first arrival on 12F.
