Travel east from the Lesser Zone to reach Cordon, then head north from the bunker. Search the center of the anomaly cluster with a Detector, and bring bandages and radiation medicine: the field is hazardous, and the artifact itself causes heavy radiation buildup.
How to reach the Compass in Cordon
- Go east from the Lesser Zone into Cordon. A route described by Gameranx’s November 23, 2024 guide follows the train tracks in the southern Lesser Zone.
- Travel north from Sidorovich’s bunker. The destination is the Nuclear Waste Burial area, directly north of Rookie Village.
- Search the anomaly cluster with a Detector. Gameranx directs players to scan the center of the anomalies for the Compass.
Cordon is accessible early and is optional to the main plot, so the game does not necessarily send you there as part of the story. Make the trip independently if you want to pursue this artifact.

What to bring and how to use the Compass
Prepare for the anomaly field
The Cordon location is described as containing gravitational and bleed anomalies. Carry bandages and move carefully rather than rushing through the field.
Plan for the artifact’s radiation
The Compass provides maximum physical protection but also causes maximum radiation buildup, according to Gameranx and AllThingsHow’s guide, updated August 28, 2026. Keep vodka or anti-radiation medicine available. AllThingsHow also suggests using a lead-lined artifact slot or Radio Protection artifacts, or equipping the Compass only when you need its protection.

Can you find the Compass somewhere else?
Other guides describe possible Compass finds in gravitational anomaly fields, but they do not establish a guaranteed spawn at those locations. AllThingsHow recommends Deaf Meadow or the Ribs in the Lesser Zone, followed by Izumrudne or Claw in Zaton; it notes that legendary artifacts are rare and results depend on luck. Gamepressure’s guide, last updated December 3, 2024, reports finding one in a large gravity anomaly field at Buryakivka, an abandoned village in northeastern Rostok.
These are alternatives for searching anomaly fields, not a more certain route than the specific Cordon location reported by Gameranx. The guides do not give an exact Compass drop rate.
Artifact respawns and save reloading
AllThingsHow says artifacts refill after an Emission, usually after roughly three in-game days, though the interval can be longer. Its guide also says that in version 2.03, reloading a save no longer seemed to reroll the artifact. Treat that as version-specific guide information, not a confirmed guarantee about current behavior.
