Chapter 5, Season 2 had eight shrines, two for each bending element: Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. They were part of Epic Games’ Avatar: The Last Airbender-themed Elements event, which ran from the v29.20 hotfix on April 12, 2024 until 2 AM ET on May 3, 2024. The event is over, and the shrines are not part of the current Fortnite map. The locations below are the historical positions players used during that event.
Shrine locations by element
The shrines were unnamed landmarks, so players navigated by nearby named points of interest and coastlines. The table lists each shrine with the reference points used in location guides from the event period, including Destructoid and CharlieIntel. Where a second guide described the same shrine differently, that description appears in the alternate column.
| Element | Shrine | Primary location description | Alternate description from another guide |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fire | 1 | Northern coast of Rebel’s Roost | Not stated |
| Fire | 2 | Eastern coast of Snooty Steppes | East of Snooty Steps, across the river |
| Water | 1 | Western coast of Classy Courts | Not stated |
| Water | 2 | On a mountain south of Grand Glacier, near the coastal edge | Not stated |
| Earth | 1 | Island east of Restored Reels | Not stated |
| Earth | 2 | North of Reclaimed Villa | Southwest of Pleasant Piazza |
| Air | 1 | North of Research Rock | Not stated |
| Air | 2 | North of Rescue Station | East or northeast of Brawler’s Battleground |
Using the directions in-game
Guides agreed on the count of eight and on most landmarks, but they described the orientation of some shrines differently. Use the landmarks as your primary reference and treat compass wording as secondary.
- Fire 1 and Water 1 sit on coastlines, so follow the shoreline of the named area rather than searching inland.
- Water 2 is on a mountain, not on the shore. Start from Grand Glacier and move south toward the coastal edge.
- Earth 1 is on a separate island east of Restored Reels, so it is reached by water, not by land from the Restored Reels area itself.
- Earth 2 and Air 2 are the locations where guides differ most. If the north-of-landmark reference does not match what you see, check the alternate reference in the table.
What each shrine provided
According to Epic Games’ official announcement, players entered a shrine and opened its Bending Scroll Container to receive the associated technique. The announcement also said bending techniques could be found as ground loot or in chests, so shrines were one route to a technique rather than the only one. Epic’s descriptions below come from the event announcement and describe the techniques as they were presented during the event.

Event dates and what that means today
The Elements event started with the v29.20 hotfix on April 12, 2024 and ended on May 3, 2024 at 2 AM ET. Epic’s announcement stated, “Water, earth, fire, and air shrines have appeared across the Island.” Because the event has ended, that line describes the 2024 event only. Shrine positions are useful for historical reference, such as understanding how the event was structured, but they do not describe where anything appears on the current map.
If you are searching for bending techniques in Fortnite now, check Epic’s current event and patch notes rather than older location guides.
