- Open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad and search for DefaultSMS.
- Open the listing and confirm the developer is Vincent Neo before downloading.
- Download and open the app.
- In iOS Settings, set DefaultSMS as your default messaging app. The listing gives this step without a detailed menu path, and the exact labels can differ between iOS versions, so follow the on-screen options in Settings.
- Open DefaultSMS and select Signal as your preferred messaging app.
- Test it by tapping a phone number or message link. Signal should open with the request.

The listing says that processing happens on the device and that phone numbers or other data are not logged by the app. Treat this as the developer’s own statement. It has not been independently audited, and nothing here confirms it beyond the listing text.
Do not confuse it with a serial-port redirector
The word “redirector” also appears in unrelated technical software. Tactical Software’s Tactical Software Help Center describes Serial/IP, which connects an application that opens a COM port to a remote device over an IP endpoint. That software has nothing to do with sending message requests to Signal. If your search turned up COM-port tools, they are not what this title refers to.

- Check the developer name and the “not affiliated with Signal” disclaimer on the listing.
- Check the price in your own App Store region.
- Make sure Signal is installed, since DefaultSMS hands requests to apps you already have.
