The June 10, 2026 title update added fixed Portcrystals at all three, so older guides that recommend placing one there are out of date.
What the June 2026 update changed
PC Gamer’s June 11, 2026 report on the June 10 title update reproduces the update’s fast-travel notes, and it is the most current source for this topic. According to those notes, the update changed the fast-travel network in four ways:
- New fixed Portcrystals at Melve, Checkpoint Rest Town, and Volcanic Island Camp.
- A Portcrystal reward for “Monster Culling,” which gives you another portable option.
- The Eternal Ferrystone, awarded after speaking with Brant during the quest “Seat of the Sovran.”
- Map-based Ferrystone use. You can now use a Ferrystone from the map by selecting a Portcrystal destination, rather than only from its location.
A Portcrystal is a destination, and a Ferrystone is what makes travel to it possible. Keep that distinction in mind when you decide where a portable crystal is worth spending, because the crystal itself does not move you anywhere.
The older PowerPyx guide, dated March 25, 2024, remains useful as a baseline. It identifies fixed Portcrystals in Vernworth and Harve Village, and it explains how to acquire the story-awarded portable crystal. It predates the 2026 additions, so do not treat its placement advice as a complete current list.

Where to place your portable Portcrystal
Work through these options in order, and stop at the first one that matches your playthrough. A placement is worth whatever travel it saves over the rest of your game, so the best spot depends on where you actually go.

1. Bakbattahl, if you travel between Vermund and Battahl often
This is the placement the older PowerPyx guide recommends for the story-awarded portable crystal. It only makes sense if you do not already have a convenient fixed destination there and you regularly make the Vermund-to-Battahl trip.
2. The Excavation Site or a remote Battahl location, if quests send you there repeatedly
Game8 and Gamer Guides both suggest these spots in their placement advice. The Game8 summary points to the Excavation Site for its story relevance and lack of oxcart routes. Because the Excavation Site is the more useful of the two, choose it first if you expect to return often. These are situational choices from secondary guides, so they are not must-place locations for every player.

3. Other recurring destinations with no fixed Portcrystal
If neither of the options above fits, place the crystal at a stop you revisit for active quests, vendors, crafting, or farming and that lacks a fixed point. Moving a portable crystal is possible when your priorities change, so an early choice does not have to be permanent.

- The exact number of portable Portcrystals you can hold, and any cap on how many you can place, is not established in current sources. Do not rely on a specific total.
- No complete list of fixed Portcrystal destinations has been confirmed. The PowerPyx guide is a baseline, and the June 2026 update notes cover only the changes they describe.
- Game8 and Gamer Guides suggestions appear in search summaries, so treat them as lower-confidence advice than the update notes.
When in doubt about a destination, check the fast-travel map in your own save before you spend a portable crystal, since older lists may not reflect the latest update.
