Ghostly Steps comes from the final reward chest in the Cloudwalk Spire Divinecraft Dungeon, which sits east of Ghostlight Market. It is a combat-dodging support skill that grants the Mirage effect. It is not a flight or long-distance travel skill, so it will not unlock flying or help with a flight requirement.
Where to get Ghostly Steps
Two focused guides agree that the reward sits in the last chest of the Cloudwalk Spire dungeon. The route to it is the part that varies most between sources, so treat the steps below as a route to check against your own game rather than a fixed map. The most detailed route comes from the Where Winds Meet Handbook guide on Ghostly Steps and the Cloudwalk Spire unlock, updated 1 October 2026.
- Enter Ghostlight Market through the coffin shop in Kaifeng’s Forsaken Quarter.
- Find the mechanism on the upper-left route that opens the mountaintop cave system.
- Follow the traversal sequence through the collapsing-cave section and complete the escape.
- Loot the final chest after the escape. The skill is tied to that chest, so reaching the end of the dungeon without opening it will not grant the skill.
A second walkthrough, a Nerd’s Chalk Where Winds Meet Ghostly Steps guide listed with a 6 March 2026 date, describes seven chests in the dungeon and suggests using Wind Sense to highlight chest locations. It names the final treasure as the Mystic Skill Scroll. If your chest contents or prompts differ, the client you are playing is the authority, because dungeon layouts and reward handling can change between updates.
What Mirage does
Ghostly Steps grants Mirage, a combat support effect that helps you get out of enemy attacks. The effect values below come from the Nerd’s Chalk guide, published in 2026. They are secondary-source figures and were not confirmed against official patch documentation at the time of writing.
- Duration: 20 seconds.
- Ground-dodge Endurance cost: reduced by 40%.
- Untargetable window: slightly longer than the base dodge.
The Handbook says later tiers add further benefits. It also recommends checking the effect text on your own copy before assuming you have the fully upgraded version, since the balance version it describes is not verified.
How to use it in combat
Mirage rewards deliberate dodging rather than replacing it. Activate it before a dangerous attack sequence you already know, then dodge on purpose while you watch your remaining Endurance. The 40% reduction stretches your dodges further, but it does not evade attacks automatically, and a mistimed dodge is still a mistimed dodge. Keep an eye on the Endurance bar, because the reduction only helps while you have stamina left to spend.

What Ghostly Steps is not
Ghostly Steps is separate from the Lightness skills that handle longer movement and flight. Upgrading Ghostly Steps will not satisfy a flight permission, and it will not remove a missing flight-related item requirement. If your problem is getting airborne or crossing large distances, look at the flight skills and their own unlock conditions instead.
