There isn’t one best unit for every job. As of the Halloween meta reported on October 26–28, 2026, Cosmic Dog is a strong, accessible wave-clear choice; Lord of Evil, Metal Reaper, and The Dark Cloud are among the top Halloween damage picks; Vampire King is the standout buffer; and Lemon Earl III helps stall lanes with summons. The game has no formally recognized tank class, so “tank” is best understood as a unit that slows, stuns, grabs, holds, or blocks enemies—not one that absorbs damage with a health bar.
This guide uses current in-game names introduced in the October 24 rename. Older videos and rankings may call Cosmic Dog “Alien Jake,” for example. Treat tier lists as role-based recommendations, not a measured, universal damage ranking.

Which unit is best for each job?
Pick for the problem your team needs to solve: clearing groups, bursting a boss, or buying time for your damage units. Recent Halloween rankings give different units the top spot in each of those roles.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Wave clear: Cosmic Dog is the accessible choice. Its black hole also controls a lane by pulling and holding enemies. Lord of Evil, Metal Reaper, The Dark Cloud, Grim Reaper, and Lich Dog are other high-end damage options in the Halloween-era S tier.
- Boss burst: Vampire Beast—called Marceline Beast in older material—is built around a strong single-target skill. It is not a substitute for a unit that clears a full wave. Use it when another part of the team can control the lane.
- Support buff: Vampire King is the clearest pick. Destructoid’s October 28 ranking describes it as the best support buffer, citing its SPA buff and economy benefit.
- Stall and control: Lemon Earl III, Cosmic Dog, and Lord of Evil can all help hold enemies back in different ways. Lemon Earl III uses path-blocking summons, Cosmic Dog pulls and holds, and Lord of Evil pulls enemies while dealing damage.
- Flexible coverage: Game King combines area damage and slows with summons that provide additional coverage. It is useful for support, but the summons are not the same as a dependable lane-blocking stall tool.
That role split explains why tier lists can disagree without either ranking being entirely wrong. TechWiser places Cosmic Dog at SS in a damage-first ladder, while Destructoid favors Lord of Evil as a unit that combines damage, stall, and economy. A ranking that rewards boss burst, team buffs, or crowd control may put a different unit first.
What are the best DPS units?
For a newer or less-developed account, start with Cosmic Dog’s accessible full-area damage and control. For a Halloween endgame build, Lord of Evil, Metal Reaper, and The Dark Cloud are among the strongest reported damage options—but their captured numbers are not a fair, matched comparison.

Cosmic Dog: accessible wave clear
Cosmic Dog is Stretchy Dog’s evolution and a practical first high-value DPS target. Its black-hole skill pulls and holds a wave for about a minute in a pre-Halloween level-50 capture, with a listed 11,000 damage and 43 range for that skill; the associated poison was listed at 4,500. Those figures describe that particular ability and setup, not an all-purpose DPS rating. The important team value is that a held wave stays in range of the rest of your units.
Cosmic Dog is also a strong option for players who want damage without giving up control. TechWiser calls it one of the game’s best units, and the October Halloween-era boards continue to rank it highly. It pairs especially well with Adventure Man: Destructoid notes that the Halloween patch added a pair passive that gives the combination a substantial damage buff.
Lord of Evil: the broadest Halloween toolkit
Lord of Evil, evolved from Demon Lord, is the most rounded Halloween pick in the supplied rankings. Its circle AoE damages groups, its pull helps stall them for allied attacks, and it contributes an economy benefit. That combination makes it a compelling overall unit even if another pick is described as a stronger raw circle-AoE nuker.
A 2kane Halloween Raid capture on October 27 illustrates its potential, but also why panel readings need context. The Lord of Evil card showed level 50, Hero of Ooo, 2,648 damage, 44.9 range, and 2.31-second SPA. In the placed unit’s last upgrade, the reported panel was 33,205 damage and 55.6 range; it dealt 30.35 million damage, or 65% of that team’s total, in a 15-wave raid lasting 8:58 with 10 lives remaining. Those are separate card and match readings—not interchangeable base stats or a controlled comparison against another unit.

Metal Reaper: a strong AoE alternative
Metal Reaper is Grim Reaper’s evolution. Destructoid calls it a better raw circle-AoE nuker than Lord of Evil, with an AoE slow instead of a vortex and more damage ticks without the delay described for “King.” It can be an excellent damage choice, but its targeting behavior matters: two creators in an October 25 recording kept unevolved Grim Reaper because Metal Reaper would not turn to targets behind it. Check the lane layout and target direction before spending rare evolution materials.
A captured Metal Reaper panel at upgrade stage “A SOUL FOR A SOUL II” (5/5) reported 155,213 damage, 70.8 range, 4.45 attack speed, and splash 16 at wave 10. The same source reported this as about 3.6 times the unevolved panel. It was wearing Oh My Glob, a trait that the cited sources list as giving +200% damage, +20% range, and +20% attack speed. This is a trait-on, particular-stage reading, not a general promise for every Metal Reaper.

The Dark Cloud: splash plus burn
The Dark Cloud evolves from The Elder Vampire and is another Halloween-era AoE option. A wave-10 capture at “SUCK UP II” (6/6) reported 96,381 damage, range 66.8, splash 16, and a five-second burn. The same match showed 6,505 damage at 2/6 and 43,677 at 4/6. The source clarifies that the printed number is the active skill at that tier, not a sum that can be read as continuous DPS. As with Metal Reaper, the capture wore Oh My Glob.
Other damage picks and the boss exception
Halloween rankings also put Candy Elemental, Grim Reaper, and Lich Dog among the top damage choices. Candy Elemental can resummon defeated enemies, adding utility as well as damage. Grim Reaper brings AoE damage and a slow through its Final Hour passive. Lich Dog combines full-area damage with a stun, but has one placement in the documented card data.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Vampire Beast (the older “Marceline Beast”) belongs in a different slot: boss burst. Its “Drink the Red” skill was recorded at 40,000 damage to one target, while “Claw Dive” was listed at 3,000. Those are skill readings from a pre-Halloween source, not a direct comparison with the Halloween AoE panels. The same source’s level-50 inventory card showed 2,244 damage, 2.34 seconds per attack, and 38 range with Radical. TechWiser rates Vampire Beast S, while Destructoid places it at B and says stronger evolutions exist. The useful conclusion is not that one list must be wrong: it can be a good boss-focused pick without being a top general-purpose wave clearer.
Mad Magician (older Magic Man) is another disputed case. One source reports about 200,000 damage at maximum upgrade, with rarity unconfirmed for that panel; another lists its evolution, King Man, at 243,405 damage at level 50 with Oh My Glob. Yet creators and Destructoid report that the evolution can feel slower or worse after a nerf. Treat those high panels as conditional evidence, not a reason to evolve automatically. Check recent ability behavior and keep the base unit if its attack pattern suits your team better.
Who should fill support?
Vampire King is the strongest documented support buffer in the Halloween-era rankings, while Lemon Earl III is a better fit when the team needs bodies to slow a leak. Game King offers broader coverage and slows; it should not be mistaken for a pure tank.
Vampire King: buff and economy
Vampire King evolves from Rock Vampire. Destructoid ranks it as the best support buffer, citing an SPA buff that raises the team’s damage output and an economy boost. This gives it value even when its personal damage is not the reason you place it. Older pre-Halloween guides said the game had no pure buff or money units; that description is outdated against the later Halloween board.
One level-50 card capture showed Vampire King at stage 1 with 1,220 damage, 2.5-second SPA, and 30.7 range. At stage 6, “In One Sitting II” with ENCORE ×1.25, the reading was 15,593 damage, 4.5-second SPA, and 40.9 range. These card figures do not quantify the full team effect of its buff, so they should not be used to judge its support value on their own.
Lemon Earl III: summon-based lane control
Lemon Earl III, evolved from Lemon Earl, gives the team time by putting summons in the enemies’ path. The evolved summons can stun, while the base Lemon Earl’s Lemon People are described as blocking the path. Destructoid places Lemon Earl III in A tier for support, noting that the summons create both stalling potential and damage windows for the main carries. If your team already has enough damage but leaks enemies, this role may be more useful than adding another attacker.

Rankings of base Lemon Earl are mixed: some list it A or B, while another shared board puts it in C. The evolution is the more relevant comparison for a late-game support slot; do not assume the base and evolved unit deserve the same rating.
Game King: slows and extra coverage
Game King (called King BMO in older footage) evolves from Game Buddy. Its area damage and slows can support a team, and the documented card has two placements. It can summon Candy Princess, Vampire Queen, Adventure Boy, and Stretchy Dog, giving it coverage across lanes or roles. These summoned units add flexibility, but this is not the same as a summon designed to block the path like Lemon Earl’s lemons.
Useful secondary support
- Candy Elemental: Its ability to transform or resummon defeated enemies offers damage and utility. Of Zen describes the transformation as buying the team time, but says the unit is less impressive against one tanky target.
- Candy Princess / Gumball Guardian: A recorded 2,081 damage and 15.1-second cooldown refers to the Gumball Guardian summon panel, not Candy Princess’s own continuous damage.
- Rock Vampire: A decent early support option before evolving it into Vampire King, according to Destructoid.
- Belly Demon: Its grab stun can help with control, but its Halloween-era damage ranking is low while unevolved.
- Adventure Man: Consider it beside Cosmic Dog for the Halloween-patch pair passive. It is not a replacement for a dedicated buffer like Vampire King.
Is there a tank unit in Candy Kingdom Defense?
No reviewed tier list, wiki, or official game description identifies a Tank class. Since the lives belong to the base rather than to hero health bars, the closest equivalent is a stall or control unit that slows enemies, holds them in place, stuns or grabs them, or places bodies in their path.
- Cosmic Dog: Its black hole pulls and holds a wave for about a minute in the documented level-50 capture. This is the closest thing to a front line that can keep a group pinned while the team attacks.
- Grim Reaper: Final Hour slows enemies in range by 15%, according to the official patch notes summarized by Candy Kingdom Defense Guide.
- Lemon Earl and Lemon Earl III: Their summons occupy the path; the evolved lemons can stun as well. This is the clearest documented path-blocking option.
- Lord of Evil: Its pull adds stall while the unit deals circle-AoE damage.
- Lich Dog and Belly Demon: Their stuns and grab stun, respectively, interrupt enemy movement. Mad Magician is another stun-capable hybrid noted in the rankings.
Do not put Adventure Boy or Stretchy Dog in a “tank” slot just because they are starter units. Stretchy Dog is useful early because it is cheap, can be placed up to four times, and gains full AoE at its fifth upgrade, Stretchy Tornado. That makes it a budget DPS-and-control option—not a hero that absorbs damage.
What team should you build?
Use a six-unit roster to cover different jobs rather than filling every slot with the same damage dealer. Placement caps also limit how much a team can rely on copies: Secrets have one placement, many Mythics and evolutions have two, Epics have three, and base Adventure Boy and Stretchy Dog can have up to four.
A flexible all-purpose template
- Wave clear: Cosmic Dog, or a stronger Halloween AoE option if you have one.
- Boss burst: Vampire Beast, when bosses are the problem and another unit can hold the lane.
- Control: Lich Dog or Lemon Earl III for stun or summon stall.
- Flexible damage: Candy Elemental or Game King, depending on whether you want transformation utility or broader coverage and slows.
- Second flex slot: Lemon Earl III, Mad Magician, or another unit that addresses your team’s specific leaks.
- Early/filler slot: Adventure Boy or base Stretchy Dog while you build toward evolutions.
This template adapts the older role-based recommendation to current names. For a Halloween damage-heavy lineup, players on the October 28 questions channel commonly proposed Lord of Evil, The Dark Cloud, Metal Reaper, and Vampire King as four fixed picks, with two flex slots. That is player consensus, not a measured best team. You may still need Cosmic Dog or Lemon Earl III if your lanes are leaking; more nominal DPS will not help if enemies reach the base before the damage lands.
Check targeting and placement limits before committing to a roster. In particular, a Metal Reaper that does not turn toward enemies behind it may underperform on a layout with split approaches. And because a Secret can only be placed once, a six-unit lineup needs complementary coverage rather than six copies of one favorite.
Which unit should you evolve first?
For most accounts, evolve Stretchy Dog into Cosmic Dog first: it solves wave clear and lane control, the early bottleneck for many teams. Prioritize a boss specialist such as Vampire Beast later, once the rest of the roster can keep enemies from leaking while it attacks its target.

For standard evolutions, the documented recipe is 10 personal items, 5 Enchiridion Pages, and 1,000 gems at the Enchiridion Shrine. Each world’s Act 5 can drop one relevant material per win; Ice Kingdom Act 5 provides Sandwich for Cosmic Dog. That makes an evolution roughly 10 Act 5 wins if the needed material drops each time. Dungeon Train is the source for Enchiridion Pages. Lich Dog is a special case: it needs 5 Lich Ooze and 10 Pages, with no gem cost listed.
Halloween evolutions use a different recipe: 8 items and 5,000 Halloween Candy. Documented examples include Soul Jar for Lord of Evil, Thunder String for Vampire King, and Ferryman’s Coin for Demon Queen. Halo Lily is crafted at the Crafting Table for 250 Candy and is used for Metal Reaper; Vampire Essence costs 1,000 Candy in the shop for The Dark Cloud. Dog Suit is the Adventure Man plus Stretchy Dog evolution path.

The Halloween sources list Demon Lord at a 3% chance per Halloween Raid win; roughly 23 wins gives a 50% chance and 76 gives a 90% chance, so a successful raid is not a guarantee. Grim Reaper has a 0.10% Halloween Banner chance and is guaranteed within 1,150 summons according to the developer patch notes summarized by Candy Kingdom Defense Guide. The Lich route is another longer project: Infinite mode has a 30% chance to open a Lich Portal every 10 waves. Open the portal in Tree Fort to reach Lich’s Lair, where a win has a 5% chance to award Lich and gives 1 Lich Ooze. The guide estimates about 14 wins for a 50% chance of obtaining Lich.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How should you read tier lists and damage numbers?
Use tier lists to identify candidates for a role, not to treat every rank as a measured head-to-head result. Available footage does not hold level, trait, upgrade stage, and wave constant, so its damage panels cannot establish a universal DPS order.
For example, an October 25 capture lists Grim Reaper at 42,599 damage, range 62.6, and 4.75 attack speed at “DEATH METAL II” (6/6), wave 7, with Oh My Glob. The Metal Reaper and Dark Cloud readings above were taken at wave 10 and different upgrade stages. Comparing those numbers as if they were generated under identical conditions would be misleading.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Traits make a large difference. TechWiser and Candy Kingdom Defense Guide report that Oh My Glob gives +200% damage, +20% range, and +20% attack speed, with a listed Rainbow rarity and 0.2% chance. Hero of Ooo is listed at +30% damage, +15% range, and +10% attack speed (Legendary, 0.8%). Algebraic gives +8% damage and +22% attack speed (Epic, 2%); Destructoid calls it a strong Epic alternative because SPA reduction benefits damage and support roles. Radical gives +10% damage and +10% range (Epic, 5%). These are reported trait values and odds, not guarantees for a particular summon.
Stat grades add another variable: Candy Kingdom Defense Guide lists Z at 0.2% with +35%, S at 1.3% with about +30–33%, and B and C at 41% each with about +13–22%. A showcase panel with a top trait and a high upgrade stage should therefore not be read as the unit’s ordinary output. The 200,000 figure sometimes quoted for Magic Man, for instance, comes from a max-upgrade panel with rarity unconfirmed; it is not a matched benchmark against other carries.
Ranking disagreements are useful when they identify what the ranking values. TechWiser places Cosmic Dog at SS, while Destructoid highlights Lord of Evil’s mix of damage, stall, and economy. Vampire Beast ranges from S to B depending on the list. Prism Unicorn also varies substantially, so avoid building around it solely because one board ranks it S. Billy is similarly disputed; the supplied sources range from A to D, so it is not a reliable core recommendation. “King Jake” appears in some older rankings, but current Halloween-era material does not confirm it as a separate current unit with a roster card; do not confuse it with Cosmic Dog.

What should beginners and Halloween farmers prioritize?
New accounts should focus on reliable lane coverage before chasing an endgame damage ceiling. Start with Stretchy Dog, work toward Cosmic Dog, and add control or a boss-focused unit only when the roster’s actual leak pattern calls for it.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteFor Halloween raids, the reported reward system gives 25 Halloween Candy per wave and +20% Halloween Candy for each Halloween hero fielded. Skins add +10% each, with that bonus capped at +100%. A full 15-wave clear without bonuses yields 375 Candy; the Elder Vampire’s 15,000-Candy price therefore takes about 40 such full clears. A 2x Drops pass is reported to double Candy, boss drops, and Bug Milk, but it is a paid Roblox gamepass rather than a requirement for playing.
Bug Milk comes from Nightosphere Infinite and, since the October 24 patch, is guaranteed every 10 waves. The Halloween event was reported to end on November 7, 2026, at 12:20 UTC. Because event windows and shop stock can change, use the in-game event timer and shop as the final authority before farming a specific recipe.
The game is a free Roblox tower defense title playable on PC, mobile, and tablet, solo or with up to three friends. The current official Roblox description lists seven worlds and 35 stages (seven worlds of five acts), while older pages may still say five worlds and 25 stages. Teams contain six heroes, and each hero can reach level 50; the October 24 account-level change removed the cap past 100 for the account, not the individual hero-card level cap.
How we picked
These recommendations synthesize the Halloween-era role rankings and captured ability panels reported from October 25–28, 2026, while prioritizing current renamed units and distinguishing damage, support, economy, and stall. The article does not present a lab-tested DPS order: the available footage does not control for level, trait, upgrade stage, and wave, and no official numbered DPS spreadsheet was provided. Where sources disagree, the disagreement is kept visible and tied to the role or conditions each source describes.
For current reference, see the supplied coverage at Candy Kingdom Defense, Candy Kingdom Defense FYI, and Candy Kingdom Defense Wiki. Destructoid, TechWiser, Of Zen, and Candy Kingdom Defense Guide are named in the discussion above where their dated rankings or reported figures are relevant.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I play Candy Kingdom Defense by myself?
Yes. The game supports solo play as well as co-op with up to three friends. A solo team still has six hero slots, so role coverage matters more than assembling a roster around one carry.
How many summons does it take to guarantee a Legendary unit?
The standard summon information in the supplied guide says Legendary or better is guaranteed within 50 summons. A summon costs 50 gems, while a 10-pull costs 450 gems; limited-event banner odds and guarantees can differ.
Does a higher account level raise a hero above level 50?
No. The October 24 account-level change removed the account cap beyond level 100, but the documented maximum level for an individual hero remains 50.
