For PS5, choose Sony INZONE Buds WF-G700N if long sessions and active noise canceling matter most; choose PULSE Explore if you want direct PlayStation Portal support or to mix console audio with phone audio. Both connect to PS5 using their own included wireless adapter, but their phone compatibility, battery ratings and noise-control features differ. Manufacturer specifications do not establish which sounds better or feels more comfortable.
The practical choice depends less on which feature list looks longer than on your setup. Consider whether you play on Portal, want phone audio at the same time as game audio, need active noise canceling, and have a compatible connection available. The rated battery figures below are not a head-to-head test, and a current price comparison needs to be checked at checkout.

| PULSE Explore | PlayStation Portal and simultaneous console-plus-phone audio | Up to 5 hours per charge, plus up to 10 hours from the case | $149 for white or Midnight Black; PlayStation Direct US listing observed Oct. 30, 2026 | PS5, PlayStation Portal, compatible Bluetooth devices | Nov 2026 |
| Sony INZONE Buds WF-G700N | Long PS5 sessions and active noise canceling | Up to 12 hours per charge over the USB transceiver with noise canceling off; up to 24 hours including the case | Current comparable US price not stated; Sony price not verified | PS5; compatible LE Audio devices | Nov 2026 |
These are manufacturer-rated maximum battery figures, not independently measured results. The PULSE Explore figures are from PlayStation product information; the INZONE Buds figures are from Sony’s specifications. PlayStation Direct’s $149 listing was observed Oct. 30, 2026; stock and a comparable INZONE Buds price were not verified.
The headline ratings describe different conditions. PULSE Explore is rated for up to five hours on an earbud charge and up to ten additional hours from its case. INZONE Buds’ PS5-relevant rating is up to twelve hours through its USB transceiver with noise canceling off, or up to 24 hours including the case. “Up to” figures are maximums, not a promise of a particular session length in every use case. They do not come from a matched test, so treat the comparison as published specifications rather than a measured result.

The table also separates documented strengths from unanswered questions. PlayStation documents PULSE Explore’s Portal connection and simultaneous PlayStation Link plus mobile Bluetooth audio. Sony documents active noise canceling, ambient sound, and the INZONE Buds transceiver workflow. Neither set of specifications establishes a winner for sound quality, microphone performance, fit, comfort, or latency.
Do both earbuds work with PS5?
Yes. Both connect wirelessly to PS5 through a dedicated included adapter, not by pairing the earbuds directly to the console as generic Bluetooth headphones. The adapters are different and are not interchangeable. That difference is the first setup detail to check: PULSE Explore uses a PlayStation Link USB Type-A adapter, while INZONE Buds uses its supplied USB-C transceiver.
Free tools Windows power users keep installed
One-click scans. No signup required.
They are not two names for the same wireless accessory. The PlayStation Link adapter belongs to the PULSE Explore connection path; it is not a substitute for the INZONE Buds transceiver. If you are deciding based on the console and other devices you use, check which adapter each product requires and what connection you can use before purchasing.
PULSE Explore: use the PlayStation Link adapter
Plug the included PlayStation Link USB Type-A adapter into the PS5. PlayStation’s accessories support page documents the connection process. The adapter is part of the PULSE Explore setup; a PlayStation Link adapter is not the adapter for INZONE Buds.
PlayStation Link is also central to the PULSE Explore features that may influence a purchase. PlayStation documents the earbuds connecting directly to PlayStation Portal through Link, and the product information lists simultaneous PlayStation Link and Bluetooth audio. For someone who wants one set of earbuds for a PS5 session and phone audio, those are more decision-relevant details than the driver specification alone.
If you also want to use PULSE Explore with a PC or Mac, PlayStation describes an optional additional PlayStation Link USB adapter. That lets you leave one adapter at the console and another at the computer rather than moving a single adapter between devices. One adapter is already included with PULSE Explore. PlayStation says only one PlayStation Link adapter sends audio to the earbuds at a time, so buying an extra adapter is a convenience for switching locations, not a way to receive audio from two Link adapters simultaneously.
INZONE Buds: use its USB-C transceiver
Set the supplied USB-C transceiver to PS5/MOBILE, connect it to the console, and select the earbuds as the PS5 audio output. Sony’s INZONE Buds help guide describes this connection. If the earbuds connect but you hear no sound, check the console’s audio output and choose USB Headset (INZONE Buds).
That output-selection check is useful when the adapter is connected but the expected audio is not coming through the earbuds. The support instructions identify the PS5 output name to select; they do not imply that the PlayStation Link adapter can be used instead. Keep the setup distinction simple: the supplied INZONE transceiver is the PS5 connection, and the supplied PULSE Explore adapter is for PlayStation Link.
Sony’s customization documentation also has a platform boundary. Equalizer and spatial-sound customization through INZONE Hub is described for PC/transceiver operation. Do not expect those specific controls to appear in the PS5 console interface or treat them as PS5 settings based on the product specifications.

Which lasts longer on PS5?
INZONE Buds has the longer published PS5-mode battery rating: up to 12 hours in the earbuds and 24 hours including the case when used over its USB transceiver with noise canceling off. PlayStation rates PULSE Explore at up to 5 hours per earbud charge, with up to 10 additional hours from the case.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteCompare those PS5-relevant figures rather than INZONE Buds’ longer LE Audio phone-mode ratings. “Up to” describes manufacturer-rated maxima, not a guarantee of runtime in every setup. Sony’s stated 12-hour transceiver figure is specifically with noise canceling off; the figures do not provide a matched independent battery test between the products.
In practical terms, the published ratings make INZONE Buds the more compelling starting point if your main concern is fewer charging breaks during long PS5 play. That is a conclusion about the stated maximums, not a guarantee that an individual pair will last through a particular number of hours of gaming. The PULSE Explore rating is still useful for planning: its case is rated to provide up to ten further hours beyond the earbuds’ own charge. The figures should not be converted into a claim that one will last exactly a fixed number of sessions, because the manufacturers present maximum ratings and the two products have not been measured side by side here.
Be careful not to compare a phone-mode number for INZONE Buds against the PS5 transceiver rating. Sony specifies up to twelve hours over the USB transceiver with noise canceling off and up to 24 hours including the case for that connection. The longer LE Audio figures belong to a different mode and do not answer how long the buds last connected to a PS5. If battery life is a deciding factor, compare like with like and keep the stated connection method and noise-canceling condition attached to the number.
Which has noise canceling?
INZONE Buds is the documented choice for active noise canceling: Sony lists both noise canceling and ambient sound modes. PULSE Explore’s AI-enhanced microphone noise rejection is for voice capture; it is not evidence of active noise canceling for the person wearing the earbuds.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
That distinction matters if you want to reduce outside sound while playing. Microphone noise rejection may affect how background noise is handled in your transmitted voice, but it does not perform the same job as active noise canceling. The manufacturers’ specifications do not establish a winner for sound quality, microphone quality or comfort.
In other words, choose INZONE Buds if an explicitly listed active-noise-canceling feature is important to you. Choose PULSE Explore for its documented microphone noise-rejection feature only if your interest is in voice capture, not because you expect that feature to quiet the room for you. These are different functions, so counting both as interchangeable “noise canceling” would give a misleading comparison.
Sony also lists ambient sound for INZONE Buds. The listed feature is a separate option alongside noise canceling; the product documentation establishes its availability, but this comparison does not assess how natural either mode sounds or how well it performs in a particular room. Specs can identify the feature, not replace a listening or comfort test.
Can I hear phone audio while playing PS5?
PULSE Explore supports simultaneous PlayStation Link and mobile Bluetooth audio, making it the clearly documented option for mixing phone audio with a PS5 session. Sony’s INZONE Buds documentation does not establish equivalent simultaneous console-and-phone audio.

INZONE Buds’ direct Bluetooth connection uses LE Audio, not conventional Bluetooth Classic. Check that your specific phone supports LE Audio before buying on the assumption that it will connect directly. Sony’s support article says, “If your device doesn’t support LE Audio, you won’t hear any sound from the headphones when connected via Bluetooth®.” That page displayed a January 2026 modification date; see Sony’s LE Audio compatibility guidance. Sony also identifies a USB-C transceiver as an alternative for compatible devices, but that is a transceiver connection, not direct Bluetooth pairing.
This is a model-specific compatibility check, not a safe assumption based on the phone having Bluetooth in general. A phone that supports some Bluetooth audio connections is not necessarily compatible with the LE Audio path Sony specifies for these earbuds. Check the phone manufacturer’s documentation for LE Audio support before relying on direct Bluetooth playback. If that support is absent, Sony’s guidance says you will not hear sound through the direct Bluetooth connection.
There are two different questions here: whether the earbuds can connect to a phone, and whether they can mix phone audio with PS5 audio at the same time. PULSE Explore has documentation for both PlayStation Link and mobile Bluetooth audio operating simultaneously. For INZONE Buds, the documented phone route is LE Audio direct connection for supported devices, or the USB-C transceiver as an alternative for compatible devices. The materials do not establish the same simultaneous PS5-plus-phone function for INZONE Buds, so do not buy it expecting that feature without separate confirmation.
If phone compatibility is central, check the exact phone model rather than trying to infer support from its operating system name or Bluetooth version. No specific iPhone or Android model compatibility list is established here. PULSE Explore’s conventional mobile Bluetooth support is the simpler documented route; INZONE Buds requires the additional LE Audio check for direct phone use.
Which is better for PlayStation Portal?
PULSE Explore has the documented direct PlayStation Portal workflow: PlayStation says it connects to Portal through PlayStation Link. That makes it the straightforward choice if Portal is part of your setup. The available Sony documentation does not establish equivalent direct Portal integration for INZONE Buds, so do not assume it offers the same workflow.
This is a meaningful difference if your use includes both a PS5 and a Portal. PULSE Explore has a named connection path for Portal, not just a general claim that it works with PlayStation hardware. Its Link adapter is the PS5 route, while its direct Link connection to Portal is the documented Portal route. If Portal is the device you most want to use, PULSE Explore is the safer recommendation based on the published workflows.
That does not prove INZONE Buds cannot be used with Portal in any possible configuration; it means Sony’s cited material does not establish the same direct Portal integration. Avoid treating an unverified workaround as equivalent to the PULSE Explore workflow. If Portal compatibility is essential and you are considering INZONE Buds, verify the exact connection method with Sony before buying.
What do the features mean for gaming?
The feature lists identify different capabilities, but they do not prove that one model sounds better. PULSE Explore’s advertised features include planar magnetic drivers and PS5 3D Audio in supported games. INZONE Buds lists active noise canceling, ambient sound and IPX4-equivalent protection. None of those specifications alone establishes a comparative listening, microphone, fit or latency result.
PS5 3D Audio support is specifically described for supported games; it should not be read as a claim that every game or source uses the feature. Likewise, the driver type is a product specification, not an objective sound-quality rating. There is no matched independent audio or comfort comparison behind a winner here.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
For a gaming-focused decision, map each feature to the use it actually supports. PULSE Explore’s 3D Audio listing applies to supported PS5 games, and its planar magnetic driver is a design specification. Those points may be relevant to a buyer interested in the stated features, but neither proves that it sounds better than INZONE Buds. Sony’s ANC and ambient sound listings, meanwhile, describe noise-control options rather than a comparative sound signature. IPX4-equivalent protection is a listed protection specification for INZONE Buds; it is not a measure of audio quality or comfort.
There is no controlled listening score, microphone test, latency measurement, fit survey, or comfort ranking to use as a tie-breaker. That is why a product’s feature list should not be turned into an objective verdict such as “better sound” or “lower latency.” If these factors matter more to you than Portal support, phone mixing, battery ratings, or ANC, a personal try-on and return policy may be more useful than choosing based on a driver label alone.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How do I choose between them?
Let your setup decide rather than treating either as the universal winner. These are the decision points to check before placing an order:
- Choose INZONE Buds if its longer published PS5-mode battery rating and active noise canceling are your priorities.
- Choose PULSE Explore if you use PlayStation Portal, want simultaneous PS5 and phone audio, or prefer its documented conventional mobile Bluetooth connection.
- Check your phone first if you are considering INZONE Buds for direct wireless phone listening: the direct Bluetooth path requires LE Audio.
- Check your console’s available connection before setup: PULSE Explore’s included adapter is USB Type-A, while INZONE Buds uses a USB-C transceiver.
- Compare live checkout prices before making a value judgment. The PlayStation Direct US listing observed Oct. 30, 2026 showed PULSE Explore at $149 in white and Midnight Black, but a current comparable INZONE Buds price and merchant stock were not verified.
The price information is time-sensitive. PlayStation Direct listed both the white and Midnight Black PULSE Explore at $149 in the United States when checked Oct. 30, 2026. That listing does not establish current stock or guarantee that the same price will appear when you buy. A comparable current US INZONE Buds price and retailer availability were not verified, so there is no evidence here for a price winner or a value-for-money verdict. Check the exact model and color, shipping, and checkout total for both products before comparing them.
Firmware is another detail for buyers who want the latest listed software support. Sony’s indexed support release lists INZONE Buds firmware 03.000.004, released August 27, 2026, adding Gaming Audio Profile support. Sony says the update uses INZONE Hub on Windows. This release does not show that INZONE Buds gained Bluetooth Classic support or simultaneous PS5-and-phone audio, and the indexed release page should be checked again if that version is central to a purchase decision.
For a straightforward recommendation, use the feature you cannot do without. Portal support or documented simultaneous phone audio points to PULSE Explore. Longer stated PS5 transceiver endurance and listed active noise canceling point to INZONE Buds. If your top concern is sound quality, comfort, microphone quality, or latency, the published specs do not resolve the comparison, so do not treat either as a proven winner on those points.
Verdict: INZONE Buds is the stronger documented fit for long PS5 play with active noise canceling. PULSE Explore is the stronger documented fit for Portal and mixed PS5/phone audio. Neither has a proven sound-quality or comfort advantage on the specifications available.

What is the latest listed INZONE Buds firmware?
Sony’s indexed support release lists firmware 03.000.004, released August 27, 2026. Sony says to update through INZONE Hub on Windows; the release listing adds Gaming Audio Profile support. That release does not establish Bluetooth Classic support or simultaneous PS5-and-phone audio.
Do I need a USB dongle or adapter to use either pair with PS5?
Yes. PULSE Explore uses its included PlayStation Link USB Type-A adapter. INZONE Buds uses its supplied USB-C transceiver, set to PS5/MOBILE. The adapters serve different connection systems and are not interchangeable.

Sony also lists the USB-C transceiver as an alternative for compatible devices.
Can I hear my phone while playing PS5 with either pair?
PULSE Explore is documented to support simultaneous PlayStation Link and mobile Bluetooth audio. The available INZONE Buds documentation does not establish equivalent simultaneous PS5-and-phone audio, so do not assume it offers the same feature.
Can I use INZONE Buds directly with PlayStation Portal?
PlayStation documents direct Portal connectivity through PlayStation Link for PULSE Explore. The cited Sony documentation does not establish an equivalent direct Portal workflow for INZONE Buds.
Which one is cheaper?
PlayStation Direct displayed PULSE Explore in white and Midnight Black for $149 in the US when checked Oct. 30, 2026. A comparable current US INZONE Buds price and merchant stock were not verified, so check current checkout prices before deciding which costs less.
Do these specifications prove which earbuds sound better or have lower latency?
No. The published features and ratings do not establish a matched listening, latency, microphone, or comfort result. Planar magnetic drivers, 3D Audio support in compatible games, ANC, and ambient sound are specifications, not a comparative test.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Choose Sony INZONE Buds WF-G700N for the stronger published PS5-mode battery rating and listed active noise canceling. Choose PULSE Explore for PlayStation Portal’s documented direct PlayStation Link workflow and simultaneous PS5-plus-phone audio. Both need their own included adapter on PS5; compare current prices and verify phone compatibility before buying. Neither has an established sound-quality or comfort win.
