These differences do not establish a single cause such as compression, patch policy or launcher overhead. They are distribution-specific requirements. Check the listing shown by the storefront you will use, then leave additional free space for updates rather than treating the number as a permanent install size.
The separate laptop minimum
The developer also publishes a laptop minimum based on a Ryzen 7 5800HS-equivalent processor, an MX450-equivalent GPU, 8 GB RAM and 60 GB available storage. It describes an installation threshold; it is not evidence that every laptop at that level will hold a comfortable frame rate. Laptop power limits, cooling and memory configuration can materially change performance.

For a new installation, 32 GB RAM and an SSD are the sensible targets. That combination matches every recommended tier in the published tables and leaves more room for the game, Windows and background applications than the minimum rows.
Memory
Eight gigabytes appears only in the developer launcher and Epic minimum tiers; Steam’s minimum is higher. The common recommended tier is 32 GB. If your PC has 16 GB, it meets Steam’s minimum listing but falls below the shared recommendation, so close memory-heavy applications before judging in-game behavior. A compatible 32 GB kit is a reasonable upgrade category, but verify your motherboard or laptop’s supported capacity and memory type.
Storage and installation packages
The developer’s launcher guide says to reserve over 60 GB for its quick package or over 100 GB for its standard package. Steam separately lists 130 GB available for minimum and 200 GB available for recommended. Epic lists 100 GB for both of its shown tiers. Do not silently substitute one route’s number for another.

Both the developer and Steam recommend an SSD; the developer’s wording is, “For the best experience, we recommend installing the game on an SSD.” An internal SSD for gaming PC use is the relevant upgrade category. Before buying one, check the interface your system supports, available motherboard or laptop slots, power and physical-clearance limits, and the free capacity after formatting.

CPU and GPU interpretation
The recommended processor pair—Core i7-10700 or Ryzen 7 3700X—and the recommended graphics pair—RTX 2070 SUPER, RX 6700 XT or Arc A750—are repeated by the developer, Steam and Epic. The developer’s high tier raises the CPU and GPU class again but does not state an official FPS target. A GPU that sits above a named tier is not automatically guaranteed to deliver a particular frame rate, because resolution, scene complexity, drivers and later patches still matter.
What are the best graphics settings for Where Winds Meet?
There is no verified, game-wide preset that is best for every graphics card. Use a repeatable tuning sequence instead of copying a supposed 1080p, 1440p or 4K “perfect” profile.
- Confirm the correct requirements row. Match your launcher, operating system, CPU, GPU, RAM and free space to the table above. Install on an SSD when possible.

- Try supported upscaling. If the current build exposes DLSS Super Resolution on your GPU, compare its quality modes at the same output resolution. Upscaling is a rendering trade-off; it is not a replacement for fixing a persistently low base frame rate.
- Evaluate frame generation last. Only consider interpolation after the game is delivering stable, responsive real frames. Generated frames can make motion appear smoother while input response still follows the underlying render rate.
This method is a proposed workflow, not a published benchmark. No credible current-build source establishes a per-setting FPS ranking or a universal best preset for this game.
How do DLSS, Multi Frame Generation and FSR fit in?
NVIDIA confirms DLSS Super Resolution and Multi Frame Generation support for Where Winds Meet, but the controls shown depend on the game build and your hardware. Ordinary Super Resolution, Frame Generation and Multi Frame Generation are separate features; do not assume that a card supporting one exposes all three.

DLSS Super Resolution
DLSS Super Resolution renders internally below the output resolution and reconstructs the image. Use it as a quality-versus-performance option after establishing a stable baseline. NVIDIA’s confirmation is game-specific, but it does not mean every GPU, driver or storefront build will display the same menu choices.
Multi Frame Generation
NVIDIA identifies RTX 50-series GPUs for Multi Frame Generation support. That makes a newer card an optional feature path, not a requirement to launch the game or meet the published recommended tier. NVIDIA previously demonstrated up to 3.9× at 4K with maximum settings in a vendor presentation; that was a pre-global-launch demonstration, not an independent benchmark or a result every GPU achieves.
FSR 3 interpolation
If a compatible build exposes AMD FSR 3, AMD’s general integration guidance says interpolation looks best with at least 60 real frames per second, warns that going below 60 is not recommended, and says to avoid fewer than 30 pre-interpolation frames. Those are technology-level guidelines, not measured Where Winds Meet results. Use them to decide whether frame generation is appropriate, not as a promise of a particular setting or FPS figure.
DLSS 5 timing
NVIDIA’s October 13, 2026 announcement placed a DLSS 5 game upgrade in late November 2026. As of October 29, 2026, that was future-tense. Recheck the game and NVIDIA announcements after that window instead of treating DLSS 5 as present in the current build.
Where is DLSS and frame generation on Steam?
Steam players have reported questions such as “where is dlss & frame generation” and “No DLSS support ?” The reports are anecdotal and do not establish a universal fault, but they point to two checks.
