If PlayStation Store says a game is unavailable in your region, the most likely explanation is that the country/region assigned to your PlayStation account has a different catalog. Store listings, releases and services are managed by region, and changing your console’s physical location does not change that account setting.
First identify what is unavailable: the main digital game, downloadable content for a disc, or a voucher code. Those messages look similar but require different checks. Sony says an account’s country/region cannot be changed after the account is created, so a foreign voucher, VPN or console-location change is not a dependable solution.

Three different problems can appear as “unavailable”
The wording alone does not tell you which regional rule is involved. Use the item that produced the message to choose the correct path.

A missing season-pass item or downloadable expansion is an add-on availability question, not proof that the base game itself is blocked. Country-specific release timing can also make an expansion appear later than the main game.

Why PlayStation Store catalogs differ by country
Sony’s support guidance states that “Content and services available on PlayStation Store vary by country/region.” The account country selected during account creation determines which Store catalog, prices, payment options and redemption rules apply. Licensing arrangements, local release schedules, ratings, language support and legal requirements can all differ between markets, so a title offered in one country may be absent in another.
The message does not establish the exact reason for a particular game. Unless the publisher has announced a regional restriction or release date, you should treat the listing as a catalog-availability issue rather than assume a ban, hardware fault or network failure.
Check the country/region on your account
Verify the account setting before changing downloads, rebuilding databases or buying anything. Sony’s account page and the PlayStation App expose the same country information.

- On the web: Sign in to Account Management, select Your Information, then choose Edit your Residential Address. The country/region shown there is the Store region tied to the account.
- In the PlayStation App: Open your account information, select Residential Address and read the country/region field.
- Record the result: Compare that country with the Store page you are viewing and with the country printed on any disc or voucher. A console set to another language, a different physical location or a different network address does not rewrite this account value.
PlayStation says the country/region cannot be changed after account creation. If the account was created with the wrong country, the practical choices are to use that account’s Store for supported purchases or create a separate account that is genuinely associated with the correct country, subject to Sony’s account terms and your local payment and residency requirements. Existing purchases, wallet funds and licenses remain associated with the original account.
If the main digital game is unavailable
Confirm you are looking at the account’s own Store
Sign in with the account that will own the game and open its Store listing. Search results from a web browser, a friend’s console or a different account can show a title that your account cannot buy. Check the country/region field first, then search again while signed in.
Check the publisher’s release information
Some games launch on different dates, or skip particular countries entirely. Look for a country-specific announcement, release calendar or support article from the game’s publisher. For season passes and other add-ons, PlayStation specifically advises checking the Store listing and the publisher’s information for availability and release timing.

Separate a catalog decision from a technical failure
If the title has no listing, no price and no purchase button in the correct Store, reinstalling the console application will not create a listing that the account is not entitled to see. If the title is listed but purchase or download fails, note the exact error code, test the account’s payment method and check PlayStation service status before contacting support. Those are transaction or service problems rather than evidence that the game is region-blocked.

If a disc game’s add-on or currency does not work
Understand the disc-license rule
For add-ons and in-game currency tied to a physical game, the disc’s country/region license must match the country/region on the PlayStation account. A disc purchased abroad can therefore run while its Store expansion, season pass or currency fails to appear or reports incompatibility. This is an add-on compatibility problem; it does not prove that the main digital game is unavailable in your country.

Find the disc’s region
- Check the game case, disc label or the publisher’s packaging information for a country or region code.
- Compare that code or market designation with the country shown under your account’s Residential Address.
- If they differ, do not buy another add-on at random. Ask the retailer or publisher which edition and downloadable content are intended to work together.
When the regions match, make sure the add-on is installed for the same game edition and that the disc is inserted when the game requires it. A regional mismatch cannot be repaired by changing the console’s location or signing into a VPN.
If a voucher code is rejected
PlayStation Store vouchers can be redeemed only in the Store region for which they were issued. A code bought for another country is not a workaround for a missing game or an incorrect account setting; it will normally be rejected as a region mismatch.
- Read the country or Store region printed on the voucher or receipt.
- Check the account country under Your Information and Edit your Residential Address, or in the PlayStation App under Account Information and Residential Address.
- Make sure the code has not expired, already been redeemed or been damaged during activation.
- If the regions match and the code still fails, retain the receipt and contact PlayStation Support or the retailer. If they do not match, request an exchange or refund from the seller instead of repeatedly entering the code.
Sony’s voucher guidance also confirms that an account’s country/region cannot be changed after setup, so support cannot simply move the existing wallet to the voucher’s market.

When an add-on was purchased but is missing
A regional match is necessary but not the only cause of a missing expansion. Use this order so you do not repurchase content.
- Open your transaction history and verify that the purchase completed on the correct account.
- Check the game’s page in your library and confirm that the add-on is downloaded and installed. Some expansions are separate downloads.
- Start the game and look in the location specified by the publisher: an in-game menu, quest giver, inventory tab or other content area. An installed add-on may not create a new icon on the home screen.
- Restart the console and launch the game again.
- Use the console option to restore licenses, then check the add-on’s download status once more.
- If the content remains absent, reinstall the game and its add-on only after confirming the save data is backed up and the purchase is visible in transaction history.
For a third-party game that still does not recognize a correctly purchased, correctly matched add-on, contact the publisher with the game edition, disc region, account region and any error message. For persistent Store or license problems, contact PlayStation Support and include purchase details plus a screenshot or video of the message.
Why common “fixes” do not solve the region message
- Changing the console’s country, language or time zone: These settings do not change the country recorded on the PlayStation account.
- Using a VPN: A different network address cannot make a foreign Store catalog, voucher or disc license valid for the account. It can also complicate payment and account-security checks.
- Buying a foreign voucher: Sony requires the voucher and account Store regions to match.
- Restoring licenses: License restoration can fix a purchased item that is not being recognized, but it cannot add a game that is absent from the account’s regional catalog.
- Switching users on the same console: A second user has its own account region. Installing the game under another account does not transfer ownership or alter the first account’s Store.
A decision checklist
Work through these questions in order:
- Is the message attached to the base game, a disc add-on, or a voucher?
- What country/region is shown in Account Management or the PlayStation App?
- For a base game, does the publisher list a release or restriction for that country?
- For disc content, does the disc’s licensed region match the account region?
- For a voucher, does the code’s Store region match the account region?
- For a completed add-on purchase, is the transaction on the right account, is the download installed, and have licenses been restored?
- After those checks, is the remaining problem controlled by the publisher or by PlayStation’s Store and account systems?
This sequence keeps three separate issues from being mixed together: a regional Store catalog decision, disc-and-add-on compatibility, and voucher redemption. It also prevents spending money on a code or add-on that the account cannot use.

Contact the publisher
Use the publisher’s support channel when the game is third-party content, the country-specific release information is unclear, or a correctly matched disc and add-on do not work inside the game. Provide the exact edition, disc region, account country and the date and wording of the error.
Contact PlayStation Support
Contact PlayStation for account-region questions, voucher validation, transaction problems, Store listings that should be available, or licenses that remain missing after the documented troubleshooting steps. Include the account’s Store country, purchase receipt or transaction ID, console model, game edition and a screenshot or video. Do not send your password or full payment-card details.
