A Sims 4 pack that seems to be missing usually falls into one of five states, and each one has a different fix. The pack may be owned but still waiting to download. It may be downloaded but not installed by your platform. It may be installed but switched off in Pack Selection, or your current save may depend on content that is unloaded. Working out which state you are in is faster than reinstalling the game or buying the pack again.
Identify which state your pack is in
Before changing anything, sort your problem into one of these states:

- Not owned on this account: the purchase was made on a different EA Account, a different platform, or never completed.
- Owned but not downloaded: the pack is on your account but has not been pulled to your machine or console.
- Downloaded but not installed: the launcher or console has the files but has not finished installing them.
- Installed but not loaded: the pack is on disk, but Pack Selection has it unloaded.
- Loaded but failing: the game reports the pack as installed, yet its content does not appear or work.
Electronic Arts’ current help guidance for installing and managing packs covers the first four states across PC, Mac, and console. The last state is less common and is handled by repair steps described below.

- Requires The Sims 4 & all game updates. For PC, see minimum system requirements for the pack.
- Develop Parenting Skills – Level up your Sim’s parenting skills to satisfy their child’s needs and influence their behaviors. Gain new abilities through experience and choosing when to discipline bad actions, encourage good behavior, or just let kids be kids.
- Shape Your Sim’s Childhood – The decisions you make influence how your Sim parents and leave a lasting impact on their child’s future. Each choice shapes their personality, affects their traits, influences their family relationships, and guides their path into adulthood.
- Gather your Sim’s family to participate in new activities and spend quality time with each other. Sims of all ages can work together to complete a variety of school projects, express their creativity using construction blocks, or volunteer their time for good.
- Customize your Sims’ looks and their home with new family fashion and build items. Give the kids’ bedrooms extra personality, remodel the kitchen to feel homier, and let your Sims express their sporty or artistic sides with new outfits.
- Open the EA app and select Library, then choose The Sims 4.
- Select Manage, then Manage add-ons.
- Read the list. Owned packs that are already installed appear among the installed add-ons and in the in-game content area. Owned packs that are not yet installed appear as downloadable add-ons.
- For any downloadable pack, select the Download icon on the same screen.
If the pack does not appear in either list, it is not showing as owned on the account currently signed in to the EA app. Check the account before going further (see the entitlement section below).
Check the in-game Marketplace
If you bought the pack through the Marketplace, you can confirm its status inside the game. Open My Collection, then Manage Storage, and look for the pack’s installation status. The in-game Marketplace is available on PC, Mac, PlayStation, and Xbox.
Purchase routes differ by platform. EA’s Marketplace guidance says web Marketplace purchases and downloads apply to PC and Mac, while console players must make Marketplace purchases in-game. Do not follow a web-store workflow on a console, or expect a console purchase to appear on the web.

Console libraries work differently
Xbox
Xbox packs install automatically after they download, unless automatic updates are turned off on the console. If a pack you bought is missing, check whether automatic updates have been disabled. Automatic installation happens after the download; it does not mean the download has already started for every purchase, so a pack bought recently may still need the download to complete.

On PlayStation, the pack must be downloaded manually. EA’s instructions for PlayStation 4 are:
- Open Library, then Purchased, then The Sims 4.
- Select Game Library, then Your Collection.
- Under Add-Ons, select the pack and download it. Installation proceeds automatically once the download finishes.
The menu labels above come from EA’s PlayStation 4 instructions. If your PlayStation 5 or another menu layout uses different names, look for the same Library and Purchased area.

- Build the perfect home: Construct the home of your, and their dreams by planning its layout, choosing furnishings, and altering the landscape and terrain

- Play with life: Control the rich and entertaining moments of your Sims’ lives from their relationships to their careers
Confirm ownership and the account
Ownership is tied to the account that made the purchase. Before assuming a pack is missing from your game, check these in order:
- Confirm you are signed in to the EA Account that bought the pack. A second EA Account on the same machine or console is a common cause of this.
- For a purchase made with real money, open the order history on the account and confirm the order completed.
- On console, confirm the console account is linked to the EA Account that owns the pack.
- Restart the game or sign out and back in to the platform. A recent Marketplace purchase may not show until you are online.
Do not buy the pack again until these checks show it is not owned. A second purchase does not fix a wrong-account problem and may create a refund request.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsCheck whether the pack is switched off
An installed pack can still be unloaded. From the Main Menu, open Pack Selection and confirm the pack you need is selected. Pack Selection exists so players can choose which packs load, which can free resources without uninstalling anything. It is supported on PC, Mac, and console.

Unloading a pack has consequences for saved games. EA warns that unloading removes that pack’s content from a save, including hair, clothing, traits, objects, worlds, or gameplay features. A save with unloaded content may show a missing-pack warning. If you continue and save while content is missing, the save can be damaged in ways that are not reversed by reloading the pack later.
When you need to keep the original save intact:
- Back up the save file before loading it again, and keep the backup in a separate folder.
- Re-enable the pack in Pack Selection and restart the game.
- Load the save and confirm the content is back before playing or saving.
Repair downloads, installs, and launcher faults
If a download stalls, or the pack shows as installed while the game still cannot use it, work through the launcher steps in order:
- Clear the EA app cache: in the EA app, select Help, then App Recovery, then Clear Cache.
- Check connectivity and server status: connection problems can interrupt installs. EA’s general troubleshooting page suggests checking EA app server status before changing local settings.
- Repair the game: in Library, open the three-dot menu on The Sims 4 tile and select Repair.
These are general EA app steps. They do not prove that cache or file damage caused your particular missing pack. An EA Forums thread from October 2026 describes a case where the EA app showed Sims 4 DLC as installed but the game would not load it. That is a single, case-specific report, but it shows that a launcher status message alone does not confirm that content is usable. If the pack still does not work after repair, the pack state checks above are the next step.

Match the symptom to the branch
| Symptom | What it most likely points to | First check |
|---|---|---|
| Pack missing from Manage add-ons on PC or Mac | Not owned on the signed-in account, or a different EA Account was used | Confirm the EA Account and order history |
| Pack listed as downloadable | Owned, but not yet downloaded | Select the Download icon in Manage add-ons |
| Pack on PlayStation not appearing | Owned but not downloaded, since PlayStation requires a manual download | Library, Purchased, The Sims 4, Game Library, Your Collection, Add-Ons |
| Pack on Xbox not appearing | Download did not complete, or automatic updates are turned off | Check the console’s automatic update setting and the account link |
| Missing-pack warning on one save only | Required content is unloaded in Pack Selection | Main Menu, Pack Selection |
| Missing content across every save | Pack unloaded or not installed, rather than a single save issue | Pack Selection, then Manage add-ons |
| Installed status but content does not work | Launcher or file fault, or a case not explained by the steps above | Help, App Recovery, Clear Cache, then Repair |
The test that separates the branches is whether the problem affects one save or the whole game. A warning on one save usually means that save depends on content that is unloaded. A pack missing from the account list usually means ownership or download status, and the launcher steps only help once the pack is owned and selected.
Evidence limits
EA’s guidance identifies these causes, but it does not say how often each one occurs. No published figure shows what share of missing-pack problems come from each branch, so treat the order above as a logical sequence, not a ranked list of likely causes. The steps reflect EA’s help pages current as of October 2026; menus and labels may change with later app updates.

Here’s how it works (October 2026); EA app support, Games that won’t download, install, or load in the EA app (October 2026); EA Forums thread, [CURRENT ISSUE] Sims 4 DLC shows as installed, won’t load in-game (October 2026, a single case-specific discussion).
EA Help describes Pack Selection this way: “Pack selection is a feature that lets you customize which Packs you want installed.” Read the phrase alongside the save warning above: choosing a pack to be installed or unloaded changes what your saves can use.
