Roblox keeps asking you to install when the website cannot detect or launch the Roblox app already on your computer. Roblox Support calls this an “Endless Install Loop” and lists the desktop causes as a Roblox or other program still running during installation, corrupted temporary files, a firewall blocking Roblox from starting, and other corrupted Roblox files. In most cases the fix is a short set of checks, not another download of the installer.
What the endless install prompt means
Roblox’s desktop troubleshooting page describes the symptom as “Endless Install Loop – player is directed to install Roblox, even after they have done so” (Roblox Support, General Desktop Roblox Issues). In practical terms, the website is not confirming that a working client is present, so it keeps offering the installer. Running the installer again repeats the same handoff unless something underneath changes.
Roblox lists four desktop causes for this loop:
- Roblox or another program was still running while the installation was in progress.
- Temporary files are corrupted.
- A firewall is preventing Roblox from starting.
- Other Roblox files are corrupted.
Work through the checks below in order. Each step rules out one cause before you move on to the more involved fixes.
Restart and launch the app directly
Roblox says a reboot may be enough to solve Roblox or Studio problems (Roblox Support, General Desktop Roblox Issues). Restart the computer, then open Roblox from your normal app location (the Start menu on Windows, or Applications on a Mac) instead of clicking through the website prompt. If the app opens and runs, the website handoff is the problem, and the steps below address the browser side. If it still does not open, keep going.

Clear browser temporary files and cookies
Roblox’s website guidance recommends clearing temporary internet files and cookies for the browser you use to launch Roblox, then restarting and trying again (Roblox Support, General Website Issues). Only the browser you launch Roblox from needs this.
- Close the browser completely, including any background windows.
- Open the browser’s privacy, history, or clear-browsing-data settings and clear cached images and files and cookies.
- Restart the computer and open Roblox again.
Clearing cookies signs you out of other websites, so expect to log back in to those services.

Check firewall and security software
Roblox states that security software can block Roblox from starting (Roblox Support, General Desktop Roblox Issues; Roblox Support, How Do I Reinstall the Roblox Software?). Open the firewall or security software you already have, look for its allowed-programs or exceptions list, and confirm Roblox is permitted. Allowing Roblox in software you already own is the official route; you do not need to add another security product to fix this.
Reinstall Roblox correctly
If the earlier checks fail, reinstall. Roblox says reinstalling should replace deleted or broken files, but a partial or interrupted reinstall can leave the same problem in place, so follow the sequence carefully (Roblox Support, How Do I Reinstall the Roblox Software?).

- Close all other programs. Roblox’s reinstall page says: “Make sure all other programs are closed when reinstalling.”
- Run the reinstallation using the instructions for your platform on Roblox’s reinstall page.
- If the prompt continues, uninstall Roblox, restart the computer, and install it again following the platform instructions.
Check the browser and its extensions
Browser state can interfere with both the website and the launch from it. Roblox’s connection and website guidance points to the same basic checks (Roblox Support, General Connection Problems; Roblox Support, General Website Issues):
- Use an updated, supported browser.
- Review the browser’s security settings for anything that restricts launching external applications.
- Disable extensions one at a time, especially ad blockers, and retest after each change so you can identify the one that matters.
Roblox’s Launcher Plugin support page includes browser plugin steps that may be out of date (Roblox Support, Roblox Launcher Plugin). Confirm they apply to your browser version before following them.

Mac-specific checks
On a Mac, the official troubleshooting page separates an installed-app problem from a website-to-app handoff problem (Roblox Support, Mac: Troubleshooting).
- Confirm Roblox appears in your Applications folder and in the Dock.
- Launch Roblox from the Dock. If it opens, the installed app is working and the problem is in the website handoff.
- If the website launch fails and Safari is involved, try a supported alternative browser.
When to contact Roblox Support
If the loop continues after these steps, Roblox asks for the following when you contact Support (Roblox Support, Contact Us). Having them ready shortens the exchange:

- Your device model
- Your operating system version
- The steps that reproduce the prompt
- Any recent changes to the computer, browser, or security software
What these steps cannot establish
The cause of the loop depends on your device, operating system, browser, and how Roblox was installed, and the title does not reveal any of them. The steps above cover the official desktop and Mac routes, but they cannot pinpoint your specific cause without those details. Roblox does not publish how often this loop occurs, so no frequency figure applies. The remedies are settings and software actions; none of them requires paying for a tool.
