The right place to look depends on which one you mean. The Start menu folder is not where saves are stored; the Documents location described here applies specifically to The Sims 4.
Which EA folder are you looking for?

These are separate locations with different purposes. Looking in Documents will not find the Start menu shortcut, and the Start menu shortcut does not contain game saves.

If the EA folder is missing from Windows Start
EA’s cache instructions list this route for Windows 10 and 11: open Start > All Apps, find and expand EA, then choose App Recovery > Clear Cache. The folder is a way to reach recovery—not a required place to store game files. See EA’s cache-clearing instructions for the current steps.
You can also open the EA app, open its menu, and choose App recovery > Clear cache. On macOS, EA’s guide gives the route Help > App Recovery; there is no Windows Start menu path on Mac.

Cache clearing may help if games appear to be missing from the EA app Library, but EA says it does not resolve service outages. If you cannot find the Start menu shortcut, try the in-app recovery route instead. The absence of a shortcut alone does not establish why it is missing.
If you mean The Sims 4 folder in Documents
EA’s backup and reset guidance identifies Documents > Electronic Arts as the parent location for The Sims 4 user data. The game folder is typically Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4. EA’s FAQ also uses Documents > Electronic Arts when describing save-file transfer on Mac. These instructions are specific to The Sims 4; they do not establish that every EA game creates an Electronic Arts folder in Documents.

If you do not see it, check the Documents folder the game actually uses. Documents may be redirected or synced through OneDrive, so the active folder may be in a different path. An EA Forums community guide discusses this possibility; treat it as community guidance rather than official EA policy: Managing OneDrive.
What to do if saves or files seem to be missing
- Check the active Documents location. Look at the folder’s location and check whether Documents is redirected to OneDrive before concluding that files are gone.
- Search for another copy. Look for an existing The Sims 4 folder or backup before moving, resetting, or deleting anything.
- Preserve the files you find. Make a separate copy before troubleshooting. EA’s backup and reset guide explains how to copy data back into the game folder and test files individually.
- Do not count on EA app cloud storage to restore a missing save. EA’s The Sims 4 FAQ says the game does not support EA app cloud storage for saves.
What information will identify the right fix?
The exact reason a folder is absent cannot be determined from the question alone. To narrow it down, identify your operating system and EA game, say whether you mean a Start menu shortcut or a Documents folder, and share the path you checked. If you are looking for The Sims 4 files, a screenshot or the Documents folder location can help reveal whether OneDrive is involved.
