The Forsaken campaign is no longer playable because Bungie moved it into the Destiny Content Vault (DCV) when Destiny 2 Year 5 launched on February 22, 2022. Bungie said the move would make room for The Witch Queen and its new content, while helping the studio update the game more quickly. The campaign’s removal did not remove every Forsaken-era activity or item.
Why did Bungie vault the Forsaken campaign?
Bungie’s DCV model cycles some destination and activity content out of Destiny 2 to make room for new experiences and support faster game updates. In its Year 5 announcement, Bungie said vaulting Forsaken content would create space for The Witch Queen, its Throne World destination, weapon crafting, a Legendary campaign option, the Glaive weapon archetype, and the four planned seasons beginning that February. Bungie’s Year 5 announcement and its DCV explanation give that public rationale; they do not identify a Forsaken-specific technical constraint or provide further detail about Bungie’s internal decision.

What Forsaken content is still available?
The campaign was not the only Forsaken-era content, and its removal did not erase everything associated with the expansion. Bungie said the Tangled Shore would also be vaulted, while the Dreaming City would remain available. The surviving content Bungie lists in its Forsaken Pack guide is separate from the campaign:
- The Last Wish raid
- The Shattered Throne dungeon
- More than 20 Forsaken Exotic weapons
These activities and items do not provide access to the removed story missions. Bungie’s Forsaken Pack guide describes the Pack’s content; the Year 5 announcement distinguishes the vaulted Tangled Shore from the Dreaming City, which remained.

Does buying the Forsaken Pack restore the campaign?
No. Bungie’s guide describes the Forsaken Pack as access to surviving content, including the raid, dungeon, and Exotic weapons. It says the campaign was free for all players only until February 22, 2022, and does not say that buying the Pack restores campaign access. Check Bungie’s Forsaken Pack guide for the content it covers.

Bungie’s current DCV page still lists the Forsaken campaign among the campaigns moved to the Vault at the start of Year 5. Bungie says vaulted content may potentially return, but the page does not announce the campaign’s return or give a date. Its separate August 2022 announcement that Destiny 2 expansions would no longer be vaulted is a policy change for expansions going forward, not confirmation that previously vaulted Forsaken campaign content has been restored. See Bungie’s DCV page for the current listing and policy notes.
