The closer you get to its hiding place, the stronger the signal. Use the room’s changed music to identify the right room, then move between likely hiding spots and watch or feel for the strongest cue.
How Gooigi’s vibration helps you find a Boo
Nintendo Life’s Boo-finding guide describes two linked cues: Gooigi visibly wobbles, and a rumble-capable controller pulses as you approach a Boo’s hiding place. The cue grows stronger as you get closer. The room’s music also changes when you enter the room where the Boo is hiding.
Treat the music change as a broad location clue, then sweep around possible hiding spots in that room. Compare the strength of Gooigi’s wobble or controller rumble as you move; the strongest cue points you toward the Boo. The visible wobble is useful even if you cannot feel rumble.

What to check if the controller does not rumble
The in-game wobble and the controller’s tactile rumble are separate ways to notice the clue. If the rumble is missing or feels weak, check the console setting first:
- Open System Settings > Controllers and Sensors > Controller Vibration.
- Turn on Controller Vibration and check whether the signal is detectable in-game.
Nintendo notes that vibration intensity can vary by game and controller. If vibration still seems weak or absent, Nintendo recommends updating the system and controller, charging the controller, pressing its SYNC button once and then pressing another button to reconnect it, and confirming that vibration is enabled.

Can Gooigi’s clue work on Nintendo Switch Lite?
Switch Lite can use HD Rumble with a supported wireless Joy-Con or Pro Controller. You do not need rumble to follow the Boo clue, however: Gooigi’s visible wobble remains an on-screen signal.
