Capcom’s launch announcement and later platform listings name Xbox Series X|S as the supported Xbox, and Xbox One does not appear anywhere in the final lineup. Capcom has not publicly explained why it left Xbox One out, so this article separates what the official announcements confirm from what they leave unsaid.
The short answer: Xbox One is not a supported platform
Capcom’s release announcement of December 9, 2022 lists PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC as the platforms for Street Fighter 6, with a launch date of June 2, 2023. Xbox One is not on that list. The official Xbox store page for the game, Buy Street Fighter 6, describes the game as optimized for Xbox Series X|S.

CAPCOM Street Fighter 6 (PS5) | $25.65 | Buy on Amazon |

Maximum Entertainment 34 Sports Games - World Edition (PS5) | $26.97 | Buy on Amazon |
In practical terms, if you own an Xbox One, there is no Xbox One edition of the game to buy or install. The version you can play on an Xbox console is the Xbox Series X|S version.
What Capcom’s announcements actually list
Capcom has published several official platform statements for the game. They do not all say the same thing, and the differences are the main source of confusion around Xbox One.
#1 Best Overall
- Classic Experience Built for a Modern Era: With all core gameplay modes present, plus two brand new modes and enhanced visuals, Street Fighter 6 redefines the classic fighting game genre.
- Distinct Fighting Styles to Master: 18 diverse characters including legendary World Warriors and exciting brand new characters add their own flair to the game at launch, with more to be added post-launch.
- Brand New Game Modes: The Street Fighter franchise continues to hone its skills and redefine the fighting genre with the introduction of three new foundational modes – Fighting Ground, World Tour and Battle Hub.
- In-Game Commentating: Street Fighter’s first-ever Real-Time Commentary Feature, supported with subtitles in 13 languages, incorporates the voices of popular Fighting Game Community (FGC) commentators like Vicious and Aru directly into the game to narrate what is happening on-screen just like a real tournament.
- Two New Control Schemes: Classic Controls returns alongside two brand new options: Modern Controls allow you to perform special attacks with simple button combinations and are designed for players who want to fight without memorizing and practicing special move button combinations first. Dynamic Controls only require a press of the Auto-Attack button to perform attacks and is a great control type to use when you have friends and family over for a quick, casual game.
| Capcom announcement | Date | Xbox One named? | Xbox Series X|S named? | Other platforms named |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Production of Street Fighter 6 Announced! | February 21, 2022 | Yes | Not named in this announcement | Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PC |
| Street Fighter 6 to Launch on June 2, 2023! | December 9, 2022 | No | Yes | PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, PC |
| Street Fighter 6 Sales Surpass 5 Million Units Worldwide! | June 11, 2025 | No | Yes | PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch 2, PC |
The February 2022 list is an early announcement
The February 2022 production announcement named Xbox One among its platforms. That list is the most likely reason readers still find Xbox One mentioned in older coverage. It was published before the final lineup was set, and it does not describe what shipped. The December 2022 release announcement replaced it with the platforms the game actually launched on.
The 2025 update adds Switch 2 but keeps the Xbox list unchanged
Capcom’s June 11, 2025 update states that the original platforms launched on June 2, 2023, and that Nintendo Switch 2 was added later. Xbox One is still absent, and Xbox Series X|S remains the Xbox platform named. Note that this update is a sales announcement, so its platform list is secondary to the launch announcement.

Why Capcom’s reason is not documented
None of the official announcements reviewed for this article explain why Xbox One was left out. They do not cite hardware limits, development costs, or business strategy, and no named Capcom spokesperson has been quoted giving a reason. Any explanation offered elsewhere for the omission should be treated as speculation unless Capcom itself states it.
The June 2025 sales milestone of more than 5 million units sold worldwide does not explain the platform choice either. It describes the game’s total sales and does not address Xbox One.

- Do not expect an Xbox One version to appear on the store, since none has been announced in the official sources reviewed.

- If you are looking at another platform, the official announcements list PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC alongside Xbox Series X|S.
