What the $49.99 launch price meant
On May 8, 2025, 2K announced US launch prices of $49.99 for the Standard Edition and $59.99 for the Deluxe Edition on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. 2K President David Ismailer described an audience for compelling stories that do not require “massive time commitments,” positioning a linear, polished narrative game as a complement to persistent games. The lower-than-some-new-releases price aligns with that focused proposition, but the announcement does not provide a pricing formula or claim that the game cost less to make.
Why Hangar 13 chose a linear story
