NYT Connections is released at midnight in each player’s timezone, so “today’s puzzle” can mean different local dates at the same moment. To find the right answers, match the puzzle’s date and number—when shown—to the answer page, and check the publisher’s timezone convention.
Why your Connections puzzle may not match someone else’s
The New York Times Games Help Center says the daily Connections game is released “at midnight in your timezone.” Midnight arrives at different moments around the world, so two people comparing the game at the same time may be on different local calendar dates. One might call a puzzle “today’s” while another is still playing what they call “yesterday’s.” That does not, by itself, mean either person has the wrong puzzle.

“Today” is therefore an unreliable identifier when you are comparing answers across time zones. A dated guide may also define its day using a reference timezone rather than your local one.

- Open Connections and note its date and puzzle number, if displayed. Use those identifiers rather than the word “today.”
- Find a guide labeled with the same date or number. Daily answer pages may include both. For example, TechRadar’s September 29, 2026 guide identifies that day’s puzzle as #1206: TechRadar’s September 29, 2026 Connections guide.
- Check the guide’s timezone note. The nyt.today guide says its current-day shortcut follows the U.S. Eastern Time calendar day. That is the guide’s convention; the NYT’s stated release rule remains midnight in the player’s timezone.
- Compare the date and number before using any hints or answers. If either identifier differs, you may be looking at a different daily puzzle.
Where to find an older Connections puzzle
The NYT says its Connections archive includes puzzles dating back to June 12, 2023, and is available to All Access and Games subscribers. Check the NYT Games Help Center’s Connections information for current access details.

What midnight means for your streak
The Help Center warns that finishing a puzzle after midnight local time can break a streak and start a new one. It says streaks are counted based on the puzzle played on its release day. If your streak status matters, follow the current in-game or Help Center guidance rather than assuming that a puzzle completed after local midnight will count toward the previous day.
