Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThere is no single confirmed cause for Satisfactory crashing on PS5, and no official fix that is guaranteed to stop every crash. What works is a safe, low-impact sequence: update the game and the console, test whether a fresh save behaves differently, check whether other games also crash, and only then reinstall or report the problem. Each check below is designed to rule something out, so you can tell whether the crash is tied to your save, your display settings, your console, or the game itself.
What the official sources do and do not establish
Before running through the checks, it helps to know what the available guidance actually supports. Coffee Stain’s official Satisfactory support pages cover console-specific settings and bug reporting, but they do not list a crash cause or a PS5 crash fix. Sony’s general PS5 guidance on game freezes and crashes recommends updating software, testing whether the problem follows a single game, reinstalling, and contacting the publisher. Sony’s error-code page for CE-109573-5 gives its own set of restart, reinstall, and database steps.

- Established: Satisfactory’s official FAQ states that Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) is not supported on console and recommends turning it off on the TV and the console if you are having issues.
- Established: The same FAQ lists graphics mode frame-rate targets: Quality at 30 FPS, Performance at 60 FPS, and Balanced at 40 FPS on supported displays. These are performance targets, not crash remedies.
- Established: Sony states that resetting the console erases all data saved on console storage, so backups come before any reset.
- Not established: Any crash-rate statistic or prevalence figure for Satisfactory on PS5. The official pages reviewed do not publish one, and forum reports should not be treated as a measure of how many players are affected.
- Not established: That any single step below will stop the crash for you. Treat each one as a test with an expected outcome, not a cure.
The 10 checks, in order
The order matters. The first checks cost nothing and change nothing on your console. The later ones involve deleting data or contacting a publisher, so they come last.
Software and game updates (checks 1 and 2)
- Update Satisfactory. Go to Game Library, highlight Satisfactory, press the Options button, and select Check for Update. Sony recommends checking for the latest game version when a title crashes. If an update installs, launch the game and repeat the action that caused the crash before changing anything else.
- Update PS5 system software. Go to Settings > System > System Software > System Software Update and Settings > Update System Software. Install any available update, then restart the console before testing again.
Confirming the install and testing your save (checks 3 and 4)
- Confirm the download finished. If you bought Satisfactory digitally, make sure the download and installation completed. An interrupted install can leave the game in a state that behaves unpredictably. Sony’s crash guidance lists this check for digital titles.
- Start a new game without your existing save. Choose New Game rather than loading your current file, and play through the point where the crash happens. This is a diagnostic test. If the new game runs without crashing, the existing save may be the trigger. If it crashes anyway, the save is probably not the cause. Do not delete your original save to run this test; keep it intact so you can return to it.
Display and console-wide checks (checks 5 and 6)
- Check whether other PS5 games crash too. Launch a different game and play it for a while. Sony says problems across more than one game can point to a console issue, which makes a system-level fix more likely than a Satisfactory-specific one. If only Satisfactory crashes, continue through the list.
- Turn off VRR on the TV and the PS5. Satisfactory’s FAQ says VRR is unsupported and recommends disabling it if you have problems. Check the setting on the PS5 under Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output, and disable VRR on your television separately, following the television manufacturer’s menu. Re-test after changing it. If the crash stops, you have a display-related workaround, not a guaranteed fix; if it continues, the setting was not the cause.
Restart, reinstall, and error-specific steps (checks 7 to 9)
- Restart the PS5. Sony lists a restart among its steps for error CE-109573-5. Use Power > Restart PS5 from the Power menu rather than just closing the game, so the system fully reloads.
- Delete and reinstall the game. Only do this if the earlier checks did not resolve the crash. Before deleting, back up any saved data you cannot afford to lose to USB storage, and confirm your cloud save status. Sony’s general crash guidance and its CE-109573-5 instructions both include reinstalling. To delete, go to Settings > Storage > Console Storage > Games & Apps, select Satisfactory, and choose Delete. Then reinstall from your Game Library.
- If the error code is CE-109573-5, rebuild the database. Turn off the console completely, then hold the power button until you hear a second beep to enter Safe Mode. Connect your controller with a USB cable, choose Clear Cache and Rebuild Database, then select Rebuild Database. After the rebuild, check for system software updates as Sony directs. This step is error-specific PS5 maintenance, not a diagnosis of the game, and it is not an assured cure for every game crash.
Escalation (check 10)
- Report a Satisfactory-only crash. If Satisfactory is the only game affected and the earlier checks fail, record the steps that trigger the crash, the error message, the time, and whether a new save behaves differently. Then submit a console bug report through the route Coffee Stain links from its support FAQ, choosing the Console version and the relevant categories. Sony also recommends contacting the publisher when a single game is affected.
Steps to avoid early
A factory reset is the most disruptive option and should not be an early step. Sony warns that resetting erases data saved on console storage. If you reach that point, back up first, and only proceed if the earlier checks have failed.

Possible patch fix: confirm before relying on it
A community-maintained Satisfactory wiki lists patch 1.2.3.0, dated June 11, 2026, as fixing a PS5 crash related to UFGBluperintFunctionLibrary. The wiki page could not be opened to verify that detail, so treat it as unconfirmed. Check the official patch notes from Coffee Stain before relying on it. You can see the wiki entry at Patch 1.2.3.0 on the Official Satisfactory Wiki, but it is not an official source.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Connection and multiplayer issues are a separate problem
Satisfactory’s FAQ covers multiplayer connectivity and PC firewall and port settings, but nothing reviewed establishes those as causes of a local PS5 crash. Work through the checks above first. Only troubleshoot connection settings if the symptom is a disconnect or a failure to join a session.
