If your Fortress Saga team keeps losing, first identify the mode and where the battle breaks down: heroes or fortress fall too soon, or your team survives but cannot deal enough damage. Those problems call for different fixes. Match your lineup to the encounter, shore up survival or fortress support when needed, and choose an HP- or attack-focused build only if your account has the progression to support it.
Diagnose the loss before changing your team
There is no single lineup established as best for every stage and mode. Kamigame’s composition guide, updated October 1, 2026, treats early stages, bosses, idle play, Arena, and guild battles separately. Start by checking the mode and the point of failure rather than copying a tier list wholesale.
- Your heroes or fortress die first: inspect frontline durability, healing, shielding, and fortress HP support before replacing the team with more damage dealers.
- You survive but cannot finish: consider whether the encounter needs more damage and whether your chosen build has the progression investment it requires.
- A recommended hero is missing: substitute based on role—preserve a frontline that can hold and support for fortress damage—rather than treating the named lineup as mandatory.
This is a practical way to apply the guides’ distinctions, not a universal in-game diagnostic rule. A precise fix depends on your mode, opponent or stage, owned heroes, advancement, equipment, and when the fight turns against you.
Choose a lineup for the mode and heroes you own
Early-stage example
Kamigame’s October 1, 2026 early-stage example lists Ungula, Violet, Iris, and Hoya. It presents a fortress-centered approach and advises keeping a durable frontline and fortress-damage support if those picks are unavailable. Treat this as one guide’s example, not a tested universal best team; the same guide has separate formations for other modes. Use rankings as a planning aid, not a complete team
Pocket Gamer’s tier list is an editorial snapshot updated September 16, 2026 for version 2.1.02. It adds Anubis and places a broad group of heroes in S+. The article describes role-specific strengths, including Violet’s summons, Malleus’s cluster control and Machina support, and Styria’s healing, shielding, and passive HP increase. Pocket Gamer says its list is based on the Japan game adapted to the global server; it is not an official ranking or a personalized lineup. Early access to top-ranked picks may also be limited, so a lower-rarity hero you already own can be more useful than planning around an unavailable one. Kamigame’s newer October 1 guide mentions a Lumiel pickup banner, another reason to check current availability before building around a particular hero. The guides do not establish that every lineup performs identically across server regions.
Decide whether an HP build fits your account
If survival or fortress durability is the problem and you have unlocked Harmony Sanctuary, the HP-focused route is the more accessible option described in Kamigame’s June 2, 2026 build comparison. The guide recommends one or two tanks or healers, heroes with HP-boosting passives, and characters that strengthen or heal the fortress. Use that guidance to address a durability bottleneck, not as a promise that HP alone will solve every fight. The right lineup still depends on the mode and which heroes and support options you have.

Build for hero attack only when progression supports it
Kamigame describes the hero-attack route as advanced and lists these guide-reported conditions:

Check the current in-game systems and guide before investing; if your account does not meet the listed progression, the article does not establish that an attack build is the better choice for you.

Use role, mode, investment level, survival-versus-damage need, and roster access together. A tier label alone does not tell you whether a hero solves the reason your current team loses.
