Yes. EA SPORTS College Football 26 supports cross-play between PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S across four online modes. The setting is enabled by default, but each console manages it differently, and cross-play does not extend to every shared feature in the game.
Which consoles can play together
EA’s College Football 26 FAQ lists PS5 and Xbox Series X|S as the cross-play platforms. It defines the feature this way: “Cross-play allows players to match up against opponents on the gridiron from another platform in certain online multiplayer modes.” PC, PS4, and Xbox One are not listed as cross-play platforms for this title, so a player on those systems should not expect to join a PS5 or Xbox Series X|S match.
Which modes support cross-play
The FAQ states: “In College Football 26, you can play cross-platform in Dynasty, Road to the College Football Playoff, College Football Ultimate Team™, and Play a Friend.” The table breaks down what each mode covers.

What you need before playing across consoles
According to the FAQ, you need the following before you can play with someone on the other console:

- An internet connection.
- A console account for your platform.
The other player needs the same requirements, since both sides must own the game and be updated to match.
How to add a friend on another platform
- Open EA Connect in the game.
- Choose Player Search.
- Search by the friend’s EA ID, or by their platform identifier: an Xbox gamertag or a PSN ID.
What cross-play shares and what it does not
Opted-in players use a shared matchmaking pool and global leaderboards for the supported modes. That is the extent of the sharing the FAQ describes.

- Cross-progression: The FAQ does not establish that progress carries between PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Do not assume it does.
Where to change cross-play settings
- PS5: Change the setting inside the game.
- Xbox Series X|S: Change the setting through the console’s system settings.
- Dynasty commissioners: A commissioner can disable cross-play for an Online Dynasty league in League Settings.
Cross-play is on by default at first launch. Maintenance, server releases, title updates, downtime, or matchmaking updates can affect availability, so an enabled setting does not guarantee that a cross-platform match will be available at any given time.
What EA has and has not quantified
The FAQ says larger matchmaking pools “should reduce wait times.” That is EA’s expectation, not a measured result. EA has not published an adoption figure, a player-pool count, a measured wait-time reduction, or a cross-play usage percentage for this title, so no numerical claim about matchmaking speed is supported.

Launch dates and the earlier announcement
EA’s launch announcement, dated May 29, 2025, said the game would launch worldwide on July 10, 2025, and announced cross-play for Online Dynasty between PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The current FAQ covers more modes and operating details, so use it as the reference for what works now.
This guide reflects EA’s published College Football 26 FAQ. If a later EA College Football edition has launched by the time you read this, check that edition’s own FAQ before assuming its platform and mode lists match.
