Yes. F1 25 supports cross-play on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, and players can turn it on or off in the game’s settings. Cross-play lets you race against players on another listed platform in online modes. It does not carry over saves, purchases, or progression, and PS4 and Xbox One are not on EA’s list of supported platforms.
Which platforms support F1 25 cross-play
EA’s F1 25 Help article, “How to use cross-play in EA SPORTS F1 25,” names three platforms. The table below sets them against the two older consoles people often ask about.

If a friend is on PS4 or Xbox One, cross-play with them is not part of EA’s stated support. Check EA’s current Help article before assuming otherwise, because platform lists can change after a game’s launch.
Which F1 25 modes include cross-play
EA lists these modes as having cross-play:
- F1 World
- Ranked Mode
- Unranked Mode
- Local Multiplayer
- Leagues
- Custom Lobbies
EA describes these as online competitive modes. The list tells you which modes the cross-play setting applies to. It does not mean every feature in the game works across platforms, so treat the list as the boundary rather than a general promise.

How the cross-play setting works
Cross-play is a player-controlled setting. EA’s guide describes it this way: when cross-play is set to Enabled, you can race players from other platforms in online modes. For example, if you play F1 25 on PlayStation 5, turning on cross-play lets you race against players using Xbox Series X|S.
Disabling the setting limits matchmaking to players on your own platform. Cross-play is therefore an opt-in choice on each account, not something you have to set up with a friend.

Turn cross-play on during first launch
- Start F1 25 for the first time and go through the setup screens.
- When the Cross-play option appears, set it to Enabled.
- Confirm the choice to finish setup.
Change cross-play later
- From the main F1 25 menu, choose Settings.
- Select Crossplay.
- Toggle the setting to Enabled or Disabled.
The label in the game is “Crossplay,” the spelling EA uses in its menus, even though the Help article writes “cross-play.”
Playing with a friend on another platform
EA’s tips article, dated May 27, 2025, explains how to connect with a friend on a different platform. It does this through Player ID rather than a platform friends list:

- Get your friend’s Player ID.
- Open the Player ID screen in F1 25 and enter your friend’s Player ID.
- Join an online lobby or game session.
- Choose Invite Friends.
This route works for adding a cross-platform friend to your EA friends list. Once that connection is made, the invitation step is what gets you into the same session.

- Confirm that Crossplay is set to Enabled in Settings on your console or PC.
- Confirm that your friend has also enabled the setting. A disabled setting on either side limits matching to the same platform.
- Confirm that both of you are on a platform EA lists: PC, PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series X|S.
- Confirm that the mode you are queuing for is on EA’s cross-play list above.
What cross-play does not cover
Cross-play governs multiplayer matchmaking and invitations. EA’s materials do not establish that save data, purchases, or progression move between platforms, so do not assume a PS5 career will appear on Xbox or PC. Cross-buy is also not covered by these sources. Check EA’s current platform pages before buying a second copy for a different system.
