No—Rockstar has not announced GTA 6 for PS4, Xbox One, or PC. Its official platform listings identify PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as the confirmed launch platforms, with the game scheduled to release on November 19, 2026. If you want to play at launch, plan on using one of those newer consoles; do not treat rumors about other versions as confirmation.
Which platforms are confirmed for GTA 6?
Rockstar’s official listings name PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The platform information available as of October 19, 2026, does not list PS4, Xbox One, or PC. Rockstar’s customer-support page, updated August 18, 2026, also says pre-orders are available for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

| PlayStation 5 | Confirmed for launch | Rockstar lists the game for PS5 and accepts pre-orders for that platform. |
| Xbox Series X|S | Confirmed for launch | Rockstar lists the Series X|S family, not Xbox One. |
| PlayStation 4 | Not announced or listed | There is no confirmed native PS4 version. |
| Xbox One | Not announced or listed | The confirmed Xbox platform is Series X|S, not Xbox One. |
| PC | Unannounced | No official PC listing or release date appears in the reviewed Rockstar and Take-Two materials. |
“Not announced” is the accurate distinction for the unlisted platforms. It does not prove that Rockstar will never release GTA 6 on them; it means there is no confirmed version or date to rely on now.
Will GTA 6 run on PS4?
Rockstar has not announced or listed a PS4 version, so you should not expect a PS4 to run the confirmed launch release. The currently confirmed PlayStation platform is PS5.
#1 Best Overall
- This product contains a download code inside the box — no disc is included. Customer shipments will begin arriving November 12 for pre-load; game is playable starting November 19. Code can only be used by users holding an account for PlayStation registered to the US or Canada.
- Pre-order to receive the Vintage Vice City Pack.
- Grand Theft Auto VI is a single-player experience.
If you own a PS4 and want to play at launch, you will need access to a PS5. Rockstar has not published a PS4-to-PS5 upgrade offer, a specific console bundle, or a price for moving to the newer system in the materials covered here. Check the platform shown on a listing before buying: a PS5 listing is not evidence of a PS4-compatible copy.
This is a statement about Rockstar’s current platform announcements, not a claim that a later PS4 version is impossible. Until Rockstar lists one, a retailer rumor or an unofficial post should not be treated as confirmation.

Can I play GTA 6 on Xbox One?
There is no confirmed Xbox One version. Rockstar’s confirmed Xbox listing is for Xbox Series X|S, so an Xbox One owner should not assume the game will work on their current console.

- STUNNING VISUALS — Enhanced levels of fidelity and performance with new graphics modes featuring up to 4K resolution, up to 60 frames per second, HDR options, ray tracing, improved texture quality, and more
- FASTER LOADING — Quicker access to the action as the world of Los Santos and Blaine County load in faster than ever before.
- ADAPTIVE TRIGGERS AND HAPTIC FEEDBACK — Feel every moment through the DualSense controller, from directional damage to weather effects, rough road surfaces to explosions, and more.
- TEMPEST 3D AUDIO — Hear the sounds of the world with pinpoint precision: the throttle of a stolen supercar, the rattle of neighbouring gunfire, the roar of a helicopter overhead, and more.
- Please note that although this game is Region Free or Region Unlocked and will work on all systems, this is the European version and may differ from the local version in age rating, labeling or instructions.
For launch, the relevant upgrade path is from Xbox One to a console in the Series X|S family. No specific upgrade price or bundle is established by the official platform information here. When comparing listings, make sure they say Xbox Series X|S rather than Xbox One; the similar console names do not mean the game has been announced for both generations.
Is GTA 6 coming to PC?
Rockstar has not officially announced a PC version or PC release date in the reviewed Rockstar and Take-Two materials. The only confirmed launch platforms are PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Reports and leaks about a PC version may circulate, but without an official listing or announcement they do not establish that the game is coming to PC, when it might arrive, or what hardware it would require. If you plan to play at launch, a PC should not be treated as a confirmed option. If you prefer to wait for a possible PC release, keep in mind that Rockstar has not provided a date to plan around.

What console do I need for GTA 6?
For the announced launch, you need access to a PS5 or an Xbox Series X|S console. Which one makes more sense depends mainly on the system you already own and whether you are willing to change ecosystems.
- Already use PlayStation? A PS5 is the confirmed PlayStation option. Rockstar says GTA 6 “plays best on PlayStation 5,” but that is Rockstar’s own positioning, not a published independent comparison with Xbox.
- Already use Xbox? The confirmed choice is a Series X|S console. Xbox One is not included in Rockstar’s listing.
- Own only PS4 or Xbox One? You will need access to a confirmed newer console to play at launch. The official information does not establish the cost of upgrading.
- Choosing between the two ecosystems? Consider which console you already use and the cost of moving to the other one. Rockstar has not published comparative frame-rate or resolution figures that would support a performance-based buying decision.
Both platforms have standard and ultimate editions listed. The official information does not provide a basis here for comparing their prices or included content, so check the current platform and retailer listing for those details rather than assuming the editions are identical in every respect.
When does GTA 6 release, and what comes in the physical version?
Rockstar’s release announcement states that Grand Theft Auto VI will release on Thursday, November 19, 2026. Rockstar customer support says the physical version contains a download code and does not include a disc. “Physical” therefore describes the package, not a disc you can insert to install the game.

For digital copies, Rockstar says pre-loading begins at local midnight on November 12, 2026—one week before the announced launch. That is a stated start time for pre-loads; it is not a promise that every player’s download will finish by launch, since the available information does not specify download sizes or connection speeds.

Before ordering, confirm that the listing is for your intended console. This matters especially if you are buying a physical package as a gift: the package supplies a download code, and the recipient will need the matching confirmed platform and a way to download the game.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What performance and PC requirements has Rockstar published?
Rockstar’s statement that the game “plays best on PlayStation 5” is promotional wording, not an independent benchmark or a detailed comparison against Xbox Series X|S. The official materials covered here do not give frame-rate targets, resolution targets, or PC system requirements.

That leaves several practical details unconfirmed. Do not choose a console on the assumption that one has a particular frame rate or resolution, and do not buy PC parts based on unofficial minimum or recommended specifications. Rockstar’s platform and pre-order information also does not establish a storage requirement. Check the final system and store information when Rockstar publishes it, and verify that you have enough free storage and download capacity before launch.
How can I check a GTA 6 listing before buying?
Use the platform and format printed on the specific listing rather than relying on a headline, rumor, or general description of the game.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems- Match the platform to your console. The confirmed choices are PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. A PS4 or Xbox One listing is not supported by Rockstar’s current platform announcement.
- Check whether it is digital or physical. Rockstar says the physical version includes a download code, not a disc. Make sure you are comfortable with a code-based package before purchasing it.
- Confirm the edition. Standard and ultimate editions are listed for both confirmed platforms. Read the current listing for the price and included content; do not infer those details from the edition name alone.
- Use official announcements for new platform news. A PC, PS4, or Xbox One version becomes confirmed only when Rockstar announces or lists it. No such announcement is established by the official information summarized here.
- Check download readiness closer to launch. Pre-load is scheduled to begin at local midnight on November 12, but storage requirements and download size are not stated here. Verify those details with the final platform information before relying on a particular setup.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the Xbox Series X|S listing include Xbox Series S?
Yes. The Series X|S name refers to the Xbox Series console family, so Series S is included in the confirmed platform listing. That does not extend support to Xbox One.
Can I play GTA 6 on a PC through cloud gaming or remote play?
The official platform information covered here does not announce cloud gaming or remote-play availability. A PC being used to access a stream would not be the same as an announced native PC version.
Will my GTA V progress or purchases carry over to GTA 6?
The reviewed platform and pre-order information does not establish any transfer of progress or purchases from GTA V. Do not assume that ownership or progress carries over unless Rockstar publishes specific details.
Can I give someone the physical edition if they do not have internet?
Rockstar says the physical package contains a download code rather than a disc. The available information does not say that the package can install the game without downloading it, so it should not be treated as an offline disc copy.
