Official sources do not confirm that Shaymin can be caught in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s DLC. The official overview of The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero does not name Shaymin among its new or returning Pokémon, and no official page reviewed for this article says otherwise. Whether Shaymin can be moved into the games through Pokémon HOME is a separate question, and it also cannot be settled from the official material available here. The only reliable answer is to check Shaymin’s own entry in HOME.
What the expansion’s official overview says
The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero is a two-part expansion for Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet. Its official description highlights new areas, new Pokémon, and familiar Pokémon returning to Paldea. Shaymin is not listed in that overview.

That silence matters, but it is not proof either way. Official summaries name the headline Pokémon, and a species can appear in the expansion without being mentioned in the marketing copy. It is also possible that a Pokémon appears in the story or in a particular area without being singled out. Treat the overview as evidence that Shaymin is not a featured addition, not as confirmation that it is absent from the game.

The phrase “Shaymin in the DLC” can mean two things, and the official material supports different conclusions for each.

1. Can I encounter or obtain Shaymin in the expansion?
Nothing official reviewed here confirms this. The expansion’s description does not name Shaymin, and no official statement about a Shaymin encounter, event, or gift was found. Until Nintendo or The Pokémon Company names Shaymin in connection with the expansion, the honest answer is that it is unconfirmed.
2. Can I move a Shaymin into Scarlet or Violet through Pokémon HOME?
This depends on the species, and the general rule is clear. Pokémon HOME allows a Pokémon to be moved only into games in which that Pokémon appears. So a Shaymin can be sent to Scarlet or Violet only if Shaymin is listed as compatible with those games. Pokémon Support points players to the Pokémon’s detail page and its “Games it can travel to” section, or to the connected-games display in the Nintendo Switch version of HOME, to confirm this. The official guidance does not state Shaymin’s own compatibility, so it cannot be confirmed here.

How HOME decides where a Pokémon can go
HOME compatibility is set per species and per game, not per expansion. A Pokémon can be eligible for a base game and not for a later release, or the reverse, so checking a Pokémon’s entry is more reliable than inferring from the game’s name or from a general HOME update.

This also means that a HOME update adding compatibility for one game does not automatically open every Pokémon for that game. Pokémon HOME version 3.2.1 added compatibility with The Indigo Disk, the expansion announced by The Pokémon Company on December 14, 2023. That announcement confirms the connection between HOME and that DLC. It does not say which species are eligible, and it does not address The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero.

How to check Shaymin’s compatibility yourself
- Update Pokémon HOME to the latest version available for your device before checking, since compatibility changes arrive through app updates.
- Open HOME and locate a Shaymin in your boxes. If you do not own one, the check cannot be run from your account, and you will need to obtain a Shaymin in another game first.
- Open that Pokémon’s detail page.
- Find the “Games it can travel to” section. If the section lists Scarlet or Violet, the transfer is supported for that game. If it does not, the transfer is not supported.
- If you use the Nintendo Switch version of HOME, you can also check the connected-games display there, which Pokémon Support describes as an alternative route to the same information.
A Pokémon that lists Scarlet or Violet as a destination can be moved there. Confirm that the listing covers the specific expansion you are playing, because the base-game listing alone does not answer the DLC question.
